This meditation encourages deep acceptance of reality through a gentle yet disciplined focus on the simple awareness of what is already here. Allowing awareness to become fully neutral and accepting of the present naturally quietens the mind as there is no need for the activity of analysis or attempting to change anything. This is based on the Zen principle of ‘Shikantaza’ meaning ‘Just Sitting’, accepting the present moment without any technique and instead simply Being frees the seeker from searching for the right method or practice, instead pointing the meditator to the raw and immediate experience of reality and a discovery of one’s natural state as unattached consciousness.

Just,

For this time,

Forget all about spiritual practice.

Forget all about meditation.

Forget about trying to find inner peace.

And forget all about spiritual awakening.

Instead,

Open your awareness to the space around you in this present moment.

Whatever your experience is in this present moment,

Simply is as it is.

Just,

For this time,

Don't get involved in the experience,

Just observe the experience.

Don't try to make your experience more peaceful,

Do not try to awaken this body and mind,

Simply observe as it already is.

Just,

This really is it.

There is no more than this.

There is no less than this.

Simply observe the reality of your current experience in the here and now,

And just be the awareness that is aware of this experience.

And do no more than that,

Just be.

The mind may say,

This is too simple,

Or this is boring,

But just be okay with the simplicity and be okay with the boredom.

There are far worse states to be in than bored,

So being bored is okay.

Just observe the boredom,

Observe the simplicity,

Observe the complete lack of any practice,

The absence of any method or technique.

Just observe the raw,

Pure simplicity of being in the here and now.

Let reality be the guide here.

The experience of your body,

Your mind and the world is the pointing here.

Just observe what already is and allow reality itself to reveal itself to you.

With its immediate,

Simple,

Clear nature.

There is nothing to do other than remain persistent and disciplined in your refusal to get involved in any element of experience.

Be stubborn.

This is all there is.

Be as though the space that you are in is the entire universe.

There is nothing outside of this space.

This is it.

Allow yourself to include the experience of the body and mind within this sense of being reality.

As though you and the space around you is the entire universe,

Nothing outside of this.

Whole and complete.

Recognise that this reality has an automatic nature.

The energy is unfolding according to its own natural laws and rhythm,

Whether you are involved or not.

So,

Simply stay uninvolved.

Without any practice,

Technique or method.

Just be the witness observing the automatic unfolding of reality.

In a moment,

We will be leaving the formal aspect of this meditation.

But see if it's possible as you begin to move and shift and join back in with the usual daily activities.

That whether you are involved or not,

There is a beautifully automatic quality to the unfolding of reality itself.

Take moments throughout each day to simply let go.

And notice if a deep sense of inner peace automatically develops.

Thank you for doing this meditation with me today.

Take care,

Be well and stay present.
