Begin by simply allowing yourself to be aware of this present moment,
But only this present moment.
There is no future,
No next moment.
There is no past,
No previous moment.
There is only what is present.
Become fully,
Vividly aware of now.
What is the current experience?
Now notice the energetic charge of the body and mind.
Is there tension,
Restlessness,
Agitation?
And be honest with yourself.
We cannot hurry our way to inner peace.
Instead,
Just be fully honest with the reality of your experience of the body and mind.
What is here now?
We often find that the body and mind resists peace,
Resists relaxation,
Resists the present moment.
And just for this meditation,
Do not be frustrated by this resistance.
Do not try to get rid of it.
Instead,
Let's use the resistance as the object of the focus of our attention.
Be aware of the resistance.
Recognise deeply that regardless of what the body or the mind says about the present moment,
It remains the present moment anyway.
So don't force yourself to be present.
Instead,
Just recognise it's only ever now.
If the body and mind is resisting presence,
It's doing so in the present moment.
And just notice this with curiosity.
In this present moment,
There is nothing to be done.
There is no activity necessary.
There is nobody you have to be.
Nothing you have to figure out.
Nothing to worry about or predict.
There's nothing to analyse or form an opinion about.
But the body and mind seems to resist this.
How curious.
Why does it resist reality?
Breathing deeply and remaining centred and grounded,
Continue to be interested and curious about this sense of resistance and be honest with yourself.
Recognising you are not fully at peace within the present moment is very powerful.
This is a deep insight.
Pretending to be at peace is not peace.
So going towards the resistance now with your consciousness,
Just pure awareness and drop away any of your tendency towards judgement or analysis and instead just feel the experience of resistance raw,
Intense and immediate.
What is the sensation of resistance?
What form is it taking?
And simply accept that this resistance is present.
Alongside this total and radical acceptance of even the resistance,
Realise that your awareness that is aware of the resistance is not itself resisting anything.
Consciousness does not resist.
It is simply aware of what is,
Even if what is,
Is resistance.
So all is well.
There is simply nothing in the way.
Be interested in the fully allowing and accepting nature of consciousness itself.
Everything that consciousness is aware of,
It has already approved,
Already accepted.
So offer up your resistance into the light of conscious awareness and find there even resistance is transmuted into peace.
In a moment we will be leaving the formal aspect of this meditation,
But even outside of meditation see if it's possible to notice any patterns of resistance,
Any tension or tightness in the body and mind.
And see if it's possible to apply this neutral,
Loving awareness even to resistance and recognise that in time even tension and agitation will soften into pure peace.
Thank you for doing this meditation with me today.
Take care,
Be well and stay present.
