A meditation designed to open you up to the possibilities of living your dream life, doing what lights you up and inspires you. We tend to think we have to do the work that our parents did or our teachers told us was the best course for us. Yet so many people yearn to do something different.

This is a meditation designed to help you uncover your dream life.

What does it mean to live your dream life?

What does your dream life look like?

What does it feel like?

You're probably going to need a journal afterwards to write down thoughts and ideas that come up,

As well as any feelings.

And if you could just give yourself 10 minutes of uninterrupted time,

And then either find yourself somewhere quiet to sit or to lie.

Get yourself comfortable.

Have anything that you need to hand,

A blanket if it's a bit cool.

And just take a deep breath in and out.

And in and out.

Just slide out again in and side out again.

Gently close your eyes.

Just wiggle around,

Make sure you're feeling comfortable.

And slowly start feeling relaxation.

Starting in your head,

Muscles in your face,

Your eyes,

Your jaw,

Your neck.

Just relaxing.

Down your shoulders,

Crossed into your arms,

Upper arms,

Forearms,

Into your hands.

The top of your chest,

Just relaxing.

Keep breathing deeply and evenly at a pace that suits you.

In and out.

And as you breathe,

You're getting more relaxed.

And as you relax,

My voice goes with you.

Now the muscles in your chest are relaxed.

Your upper back,

Mid back,

Lower back.

Tummy muscles,

Lower tummy muscles,

The hips,

The thighs,

The knees,

The calves,

The shins,

The ankles,

The feet,

And finally your toes.

So you are completely relaxed and at ease.

If you start feeling a little bit anxious,

Just remind yourself you're in a safe space.

Everything is fine.

Just keep breathing gently and evenly.

We're going to go on a little bit of a journey now,

Using our imagination and not having to move physically anywhere.

I want you to imagine that you're walking along a pathway.

We're going on a forest walk.

You're coming along with me.

It's one of my favorite walks.

I love walking in this forest.

It's so peaceful and so quiet here.

There's birds.

They can hear them.

You might see a squirrel or two scurrying around in the undergrowth.

The sunlight dapples through the leaves.

There's a gentle breeze.

The leaves just slightly rustle.

You can feel the breeze against your skin.

You walk along the path.

It's a level path.

There's no uphill,

No downhill.

You can hear the crunch of the sand under your feet and the occasional leaf or twig as well.

Just going at a slow pace.

There's no rush.

There's no hurry to get to your destination.

Just notice the plants that you're walking past,

Watching the sunlight playing on the leaves.

As you're going along,

Turn a corner and you come to a clearing.

There's a huge tree standing in this clearing.

It is so big that even if you stretch your arms right out wide,

You can't put your arms all the way around this tree trunk.

It probably needs two,

Maybe three people to train hands in order to get around this tree trunk.

There's a bench under the tree.

It looks so inviting to sit in.

You walk up to the tree.

Put your hand on the tree trunk and put both hands on there.

Feel the warmth.

Feel the life of the tree beneath your hands.

Take a deep breath in and out while you connect to the tree.

Imagine that your feet are growing roots,

Joining in with the tree's roots,

Rooting you down into the ground,

Grounding you.

You can lean your body against the tree if you so desire,

Or you can just stay with your hands against the tree.

That's it.

Just relax.

You might even find yourself smiling gently.

That's good too.

Now I want you to take a moment and think,

If I could do anything in the world and still get paid to do it,

What would I do?

You might need to ask the question of yourself once or twice.

What would I do if I could do absolutely anything in the world?

Does anything spring to mind?

Maybe there's two or three things that jump into mind.

That's fine.

Just notice them.

Imagine yourself doing this.

What does your day look like?

What do your weeks look like?

Where are you doing this work?

Does it involve other people?

Are you meeting with them face to face?

Are you meeting with them online?

Are you speaking to them through a voice note?

How are you connecting to them?

What are you doing for them and with them?

Just take some time.

Let your imagination lead here.

There's no it should be this way or it should be that way.

For now we are suspending the reality and the shoulds.

Just allow it to unfold.

You're going to be silent for a few moments so that you can get a good feeling of what it feels like to be living in this dream life of yours.

Where you are,

What you're doing.

Just take note.

You're going to be silent for a few moments.

You're going to be silent for a few moments.

You're going to be silent for a few moments.

You're going to be silent for a few moments.

You're going to be silent for a few moments.

You're going to be silent for a few moments.

I also want you to notice what feelings come up in your body when you think about doing this.

You're not going into reality at this stage.

What does it feel like in your body and where in your body is that feeling sitting?

When you're ready and you've got a really good clear picture of yourself in your dream life,

Step back from the tree.

Withdraw your roots that have gone into the ground that anchored you and grounded you.

Thank the tree for its presence and for supporting you.

Perhaps go and sit on the bench.

Just a few moments to gather your thoughts before you're back into reality again.

Maybe the sunlight is now playing through the leaves some more,

Dancing on the green and the brown,

The breeze gently rustling.

As you glance down,

You notice that there's a ring of mushrooms or toadstools growing around the tree that you hadn't seen before.

Now you know why this is such a magical place,

Why it has such power to invoke these feelings in you,

Why you feel so good being in this place.

When you're ready,

I'm going to slowly count you back from 10 to 1.

When you wake up,

You're going to be refreshed and energized,

Remembering all those beautiful feelings that you had and any other feelings that came up for you while you were contemplating your dream life,

What you were doing,

Where you were.

10,

9,

8.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

Rub your fingers together.

7,

6,

5.

Stretch your arms.

Move your legs a little bit.

4,

3,

2,

1.

Blink your eyes together.

Slowly open them.

Maybe have a big stretch.

You might even need to have a yawn as you stretch yourself up.

And when you're ready,

Get out your journal and write down what you saw,

What you were doing,

What does your dream life involve.
