We begin by letting our awareness descend into the space of the body,
Attending to the sensations and gradually letting go of all the tension,
Connecting to the natural stillness of our body,
Natural silence of our speech,
And natural spaciousness of our mind.
Then we mentally take refuge,
Relying on the Buddha,
Dharma and Sangha as the outer objects of refuge,
And our own basic goodness with its qualities as the inner source of refuge,
Generating the motivation of bodhicitta,
Aspiring for full awakening for the benefit of all sentient beings.
To begin purification,
We think of the general and specific negativities that we want to purify and generate a sincere sense of regret,
Which has nothing to do with guilt and is a thoroughly virtuous state of mind.
We don't want to be polluted by the negativities of body speech and mind.
We don't want our negative karma to ripen as suffering,
Or to limit our ability to help others.
And for this reason we desperately want to purify right now,
Relying on our outer and inner sources of refuge.
Then we visualize ourselves in an empty form of light,
Luminous,
Weightless.
And within this empty form,
Within our own body,
We visualize the three syllables of om,
Ah,
And hum.
White om at the level of our brow,
Red ah at the level of our throat,
And blue hum at the level of our heart.
With a strong wish to purify the negativities of our own body,
All the negative karma that we have created with our bodies,
As well as all the negative imprints created under the influence of ignorance,
We imagine that the white syllable om releases an endless stream of white light.
This white light fills our body,
Completely purifying all the obscurations and negative karma related to the body and to the delusion of ignorance.
With that we recite the three syllable mantra om,
Ah,
Hum.
In the.
We imagine and feel that our body has been completely purified,
All the negative karma of our body has been purified,
And our body can now only bring benefit to ourselves and to other sentient beings.
It obtains all the essential qualities of an enlightened body,
So that every time sentient beings see us,
They only gain benefit.
Then with a strong wish to purify all the negativities related to speech and to the delusion of attachment,
We focus on the red A at the level of our throat.
As we recite the three syllable mantra,
An endless stream of red light emits from the syllable and fills our body completely,
Purifying all the obscurations and negativities related to speech and the delusion of desire and attachment.
Om Ah Om We feel that our speech has been completely purified,
And from now on can only bring infinite benefit to sentient beings.
With a strong wish to purify the negative karma of our mind,
A negative karma related to the delusion of aversion,
We focus on the blue syllable HUM at the level of our heart.
As we chant the mantra,
An endless stream of blue light comes forth from the syllable,
Completely pervading our body and purifying all the negativities of our mind,
Especially those related to hatred and aversion.
Om Ah Om We generate a strong determination to only use our body,
Speech and mind wisely.
And then imagine that from all the three syllables simultaneously,
Three-colored light radiates and fills the universe with compassion and wisdom.
First it purifies the outer universe and transforms it into a pure land,
And then it touches each and every sentient being,
Purifying all their defilements and negative karma related to body,
Speech and mind,
Establishing them all in the state of Buddhahood.
Then the lights return and dissolve into us.
Om Ah Om Om Ah Om Om Ah Om Om Ah Om Om Ah Om The HUM then dissolves from bottom upwards and disappears into all pervading emptiness.
We simply abide in that unfabricated state.
Then we take a moment to rejoice in all the specific positive actions we've done throughout the day,
All our positive qualities and aspirations,
Thinking of specific examples and actively generating the joy.
How wonderful,
How amazing.
And then generate the resolve to act skillfully for our own benefit and the benefit of all sentient beings.
Finally,
To conclude the practice,
We dedicate all the positive merit we've been able to create throughout the day and throughout this practice to the great awakening of all sentient beings and all the secondary positive aspirations we might have.
