Please come to a comfortable meditative posture.

And roll your shoulders down your spine.

Rest your hands on your knees or your thighs.

And take some long,

Slow,

Deep breaths in and out.

Feel free to keep your eyes open or close them if you're comfortable.

Just take a few moments to arrive and center into this practice.

Today's practice is called the daily check-in.

This is a tool for you.

Everything is a tool.

The opportunity here is to check in with the parts of you.

To meet yourself where you're at.

And to satisfy the different parts of you that are constantly asking for different things.

Let's start by imagining you as you are right now.

Sitting or laying in meditation.

I want you to imagine that you're outside of your body looking at your physical body.

Your vehicle,

Your shell.

The human meat suit.

And I want you to start by saying,

Physical self,

What do you need from me today?

And listen.

Listen to what comes up.

Sometimes it's a thought,

A voice,

An image,

Even a color.

You know,

Like the color green which tells me get outside,

Go for a walk.

So be present to what comes up for you.

What is your physical body asking for from you today?

And I want you to commit to do that thing.

I will provide one warning.

Something that I do is I like over pack my schedule.

Basically it's like self-sabotage.

When I first started doing this,

I'd be like,

Oh,

My physical body is telling me I need like a 90-minute workout.

And then,

No.

Not right now.

And then,

You know,

As I continue with the tool,

I'm setting myself up to have like 80 different things that I'm doing.

That's going to take me about four hours which then I'm not going to do.

And that sets me up to like be disappointed in myself.

So this shouldn't be big or grand.

Or maybe there's one big thing.

Just notice what's coming up for you.

And then commit to do that thing for your physical self today.

And then thank your physical self for sharing what he,

She,

They need from you today.

Release the vision of your physical self.

Maybe even move or shake a little bit.

And then I want you to imagine your emotional self.

Okay.

For me,

I always see myself as like a six-year-old.

But like remember the big-eye artist?

Like I've got really big eyes with like tears welling up in the bottom.

That's my emotional self.

So imagine what your emotional self looks like.

Form a picture in your mind.

And then see that part of you.

Your emotional self.

And say to your emotional self,

Emotional self,

What do you need from me today?

And then remain open to receive a message.

What is the emotional part of you need today to feel seen or heard?

Allow that message to come through.

And then commit to do that thing for your emotional self today.

Remember one thing for your physical self.

And now one thing for your emotional self.

And thank your emotional self for sharing.

Commit to do that thing.

Doing those things.

And release the image of your emotional self.

And now bring to mind your intellectual self.

Bring into your mind a picture of what your intellectual self looks like.

My intellectual self looks like Albert Einstein.

Every time.

It doesn't even matter.

I'm Albert Einstein.

So see a picture of your intellectual self in your mind.

And then say to your intellectual self,

Intellectual self,

What do you need from me today?

And be open for the message.

Once you have the message of what your intellectual self needs for today,

Please thank your intellectual self for sharing.

Commit to do that thing.

The physical thing,

The emotional thing,

The intellectual thing.

And then let go of the vision of your intellectual self.

And finally,

Bring into mind a vision or an image of your spiritual self.

For me,

I always see.

For me,

I always see like my hair gets really long and flowy.

I'm wearing white.

I basically float.

What does your spiritual self look like?

And now ask your spiritual self,

Spiritual self,

What do you need from me today?

And stay open to receive the message.

Once you have gotten the message,

Thank your spiritual self for sharing.

Commit to do that thing.

And let go of the image of your spiritual self.

Within the teachings of yoga,

There's one question that we ask ourselves repeatedly.

And that question is,

Who am I?

We know you're not your physical self.

And I know that because you would say I am hand instead of my hand.

You would be your hand if you were your physical body.

So you are not your physical body.

You are within a physical body.

So who are you?

This physical body has a nervous system.

Which is your ego.

Which creates your personality.

Which houses emotions.

So you are not your emotions.

We have gotten very used to identifying as emotions.

Identifying as our physical body.

And it's a problem.

It causes suffering.

But you are not those things.

You are not your emotions.

How can you be happy?

If you were happy,

You would be happy all the time.

It is an emotion that you experience.

It is transient.

It comes and it goes.

So you are not your emotions.

You are also not your thoughts.

Again,

You have a body.

The body has a nervous system.

And the nervous system with its emotions and its thoughts are constantly going.

And we misidentify as our thoughts.

I am guilty.

I am stupid.

I am fill in the blank here.

You are not your analytical self.

So who are you?

There are many parts that are intertwined and vying for your attention.

And when you don't listen,

They get louder.

So the idea is not to ignore all of these things,

But to embrace everything.

Your physical body houses whoever it is that you are.

And therefore,

If you would like a good quality life,

Your body is your temple.

Take care of it.

It's your vehicle.

Take care of it.

Only you can't buy a new body.

If you do not pay attention to your emotions,

They will get you.

If you do not pay attention to your thoughts,

They will win.

So every day,

Take some time to check in with yourself.

And see what the parts of you need in order to be,

I see symbiotic,

In order to be in balance.

Thank you for taking a few moments.

I offer you the opportunity to journal what came up for you.

And then head about your day and complete the things you committed to do today.

Thanks so much for listening.
