Whenever we feel pain or tension in our bodies, we tend to focus on it. In this meditation we use the power of the subconscious mind to decrease the intensity of any pain we may be experiencing. We switch the focus to the comfort we feel in our body and increase those feelings instead.

Welcome to this relaxing meditation.

The purpose of this meditation is to induce you into a peaceful,

Relaxed state,

More relaxed than you've ever known yourself to be.

Go ahead and close your eyes.

Bring your awareness to the state where you learn best.

The deep state of relaxation,

Coupled with intuitive awareness,

Allows you to access the subconscious mind.

Begin to scan your body and relax any muscles that are carrying tension.

Unclench your jaw and let your chin drop to your chest.

This will relax you even further.

Focus now on your breathing.

Breathe at a pace that feels best for you.

As you scan your body,

Bring your attention to the area that has been causing you any pain or discomfort.

Bring all of your attention to this area.

Rate the pain you are feeling on a scale from 1 to 10.

Once you get this number,

You'll have a starting point to improve how you're feeling.

Once you get this number clear in your mind,

Go ahead and focus on your breathing again.

Breathing in,

Feeling the air enter your nose,

Throat,

And moving into your lungs,

And exhale completely.

Notice where your inhale meets your exhale.

Now imagine in your mind a stovetop with dials that control the level of heat.

You can control the knobs by turning them left or right,

Adjusting the temperature.

Now imagine that this knob is controlling your level of discomfort.

The knob is the feeling of discomfort,

And you are in control.

Imagine reaching forward and grabbing the knob.

Now turn it to the left,

The pain decreasing as you turn it.

Are you able to experience turning down the intensity of the pain?

Great.

Continue to turn the knob lower and lower.

You can bring it all the way to zero.

Now grab for another knob.

This is the opposite,

And controls your level of comfort.

Sometimes we become so focused on the problems and pain that we forget to notice the comfort.

There are plenty of parts of your body that are completely comfortable.

After focusing on the parts of your body that are comfortable,

You become even more deeply relaxed.

You're in a state of peace and tranquility.

Focus on your hands.

They are feeling so comfortable resting on your lap.

Turn this knob to the right.

Your hands are feeling more comfortable.

Keep increasing the level of comfort.

Choosing to focus on your hands.

You have the power to choose to focus on the comfort or discomfort,

And to control its intensity.

Just moments ago,

You were focusing on the pain and discomfort.

And now,

You are focusing on the comfort and peace.

This is a process that you have created all on your own.

A valuable experience of being able to turn down the intensity of discomfort,

And increase the level of peace and comfort.

We know,

Of course,

That anything we think can become a reality.

Everything that exists first comes from our own thoughts.

When you end this meditation,

You will find it easier to turn the knob down on discomfort.

Anytime you feel pain or discomfort,

Simply imagine turning that knob to the left.

You are decreasing the level of discomfort.

You can also turn up the level of comfort,

And choose to focus on that.

You can do this at any place or time.

You don't need to be in a meditative state for this to work.

Now that we have practiced this process of controlling our level of discomfort,

It's time to come back into the room.

Back to a state of awareness.

Allow yourself to become more aware as you take some deep breaths.

In through your nose,

And exhale completely.

Re-enter the room,

Knowing you have all the power within you to control how you feel.
