Welcome to this meditation to help support you when you are on your period.
You can start this meditation by getting yourself into a comfortable position.
If you'd like you can lay down on your back,
Maybe taking a pillow underneath the knees to help soften the lower back or you can take the soles of the feet together and allow the hips to open.
Coming into a reclined butterfly position.
Once you've found the position that feels most comfortable for you,
You can roll the shoulder blades down the spine.
Then guiding the hands onto your lower stomach.
You can gaze gently towards the sky or close down the eyes.
Feel the connection between your hands and your lower stomach.
Feel the warmth of the hands.
Feel the gentle rise and fall.
With the breath.
At this time of our cycle we are encouraged to slow down.
It's important to look after ourselves,
After our bodies,
To tune in and really notice what it might be that we need at this point.
It might be that we need more rest.
That we need more self-compassion or care.
Perhaps we need more alone time.
This is your invitation just now to honour what it is that you need.
To respect that.
This time during our meditation is your time just to be.
Allow yourself to be supported by the surface beneath you.
Allow yourself to soften a little bit more.
It's okay to rest.
It's okay to look after yourself.
With the hands connected to the stomach,
We're going to start to slow our breaths down and deepen our breaths.
So let go of any breath that you have just now.
And take a slow inhale through your nose,
Breathe to the hands.
Hold the breath at the top.
And then slowly let the breath go through the mouth.
Inhaling deeply.
Exhaling deeply.
Holding.
Exhaling completely.
Inhale breath.
Exhale breath.
Inhale.
Hold.
Exhale.
Inhale.
You can allow your breath to soften again.
To come back to a natural rhythm and a natural pace.
I'm going to offer some affirmations that you can repeat quietly to yourself either in the mind or maybe a whisper or just softly speaking them aloud.
You can take which affirmations resonate and leave which ones don't.
I am patient and loving with my body,
Even on days I might feel in pain.
Even when I feel heavy or bloated,
I am patient and loving with my body.
Even when I feel bloated,
I carry light and beauty within me.
Even in discomfort,
I choose to meet myself with compassion and grace.
Any bloating does not define my beauty or my worth.
My body deserves love in every shape and state.
I honour the need to slow down.
I support my body and myself through this time of the month.
I acknowledge and accept the feelings I may have right now.
I honour rest and accept when I need it.
I let go of any judgment I have towards myself.
I let go of any tension I'm holding on to within my body.
As I shed through my period,
I also shed what no longer serves me.
I lovingly look after my body.
I am gentle with myself.
I accept how I feel.
I appreciate my body and everything it does for me.
I honour this time in my cycle.
I practice care to myself.
You can also repeat any words of affirmation it might be that you need to hear right now.
Sometimes when we get to this point in our cycle,
We can feel a little bit more self-critical.
It might be that our emotions feel a little bit more intense.
Maybe there's other things like physical aspects such as bloating or maybe our skin breaks out and that can bring up some frustration.
But just know these things are okay.
We don't have to judge ourselves for them.
We don't have to criticize ourselves,
Compare ourselves or beat ourselves up for anything that is natural.
Your body works so hard to allow you to experience life in the way that you do.
So even if you might feel bloated or in pain,
Can we take a moment to appreciate that our bodies are trying to do their best to work for us?
Can we let go of any war we have against our bodies and instead work with them?
Honor them.
If you'd like to continue lying where you are,
Being where you are,
I'll encourage you to just take the time to rest.
Take the time to be still.
How can you care for yourself a little bit more?
Maybe it's putting on the comfiest clothes you have,
Taking a warm bath or shower,
Making yourself a chamomile tea or getting a hot water bottle.
And throughout the rest of the time that you are at this stage of your cycle,
Maybe take moments in your day to ask yourself what you need and what your body needs.
And allow yourself to honor that.
Thank you so much for joining me for this short meditation.
I'm wishing you all the best.
Have a wonderful rest of your day.
