Hello,
My name is Paige Mitchell and welcome to the Time Management Activity Audio.
I will be guiding you while composer Ross Boyd provides gentle background music.
Make sure you're in a space where you will not be disturbed and safe.
Because this is a timed meditation,
I will guide you throughout,
No need to set an alarm.
Before we begin,
Make sure to have something to write with and a piece of paper.
Please pause this audio and press play when you are ready.
Let's begin by making yourself comfortable.
Perhaps you're sitting in a chair or you're on the floor.
Have your pen and paper in front of you and have your hands resting on your lap or comfortably on the side.
Allow yourself for a few moments here to just relax and close your eyes.
You made a decision today to refocus and get organized with your life and priorities.
Take a deep breath in,
Hold and release.
Now take your notebook or journal and at the top of the page,
The very first thing to write down is this question.
What is my biggest challenge I am experiencing with time management?
How do I feel as it relates to time?
Perhaps it's a feeling of overwhelm or the belief that time always escapes you.
Write down your answers of the struggles and challenges you're facing with time management and really be honest with yourself here.
The next thing you're going to do is brain dump a list of tasks that need to get done.
Write this down as if it's a long laundry list of things to do.
When you're finished,
The next thing you will write is four separate statements.
The first one is do it now.
The second statement is schedule a time.
The third statement is who else can help me?
The fourth statement is eliminate it.
Now assign each statement with a symbol.
Feel free to make yourself a key at the bottom of the page with different symbols such as a square or star or if it helps to add colors or highlight,
Do whatever works for you.
Now I want you to review your list and place one of the four symbols next to that task.
For example,
If you have a task that can actually wait until next week,
It's really not that urgent,
Put the schedule a time symbol next to that bullet and so on.
Use your judgment on what's appropriate for each symbol and task.
Take a few minutes here to decide what is a priority right now?
What can you schedule out?
Who can help you?
Or how else can you delegate this task?
And lastly,
Can this task actually be eliminated?
Ask yourself if this task really holds any value or is this just a task that's distracting you from your true goals?
When you have finished assigning the symbols or colors,
Circle the priority,
The ones that you labeled do it now and take action.
Rank in order of importance.
Now you know what you need to do.
As this recording comes to a close,
Remember you can always use this activity to take a quick review and notice when you're feeling overwhelmed,
Write it all out.
Time is just a construct.
You can always organize and refocus and get back to what's really important to you.
Before you continue on with your day or night,
Remember you are resilient,
Creative,
And resourceful in finding new solutions for yourself.
Thank you so much for joining me today.
