Deep, diaphragmatic breathing is one of the most powerful tools we have to destress. However, many people get confused about how to breathe deeply into their diaphragm and may do it incorrectly. Other people may get even more stressed out if they try to force deep breathing. Unfortunately, some people conclude that diaphragmatic breathing "just doesn't work for them." "Invitational diaphragmatic breathing," a term and idea that I have coined, aims to bypass these roadblocks. This diaphragmatic deep breathing practice invites you to gently relax all muscles around your breathing, so that you may breathe more deeply into your diaphragm in a natural way without force.
