The pain release process is probably the deepest process that we use in the Walters Method.
It takes you from feeling uncomfortable in some way,
Scared,
Angry,
Jealous,
Ashamed,
To a state of deep peace,
Opening to your sense of oneness,
Connectedness,
Love,
Acceptance.
It's one that you can use for yourself and I've put this here for that reason.
But if as you do it you find you get stuck on a layer,
You can't drop through to what's beneath,
Then I really do encourage you to reach out.
If you're guided through this a time or two by a trained practitioner in the Walters Method,
You will then find it much easier to do by yourself.
So here goes.
Seat yourself on something supportive,
Feel your feet firmly on the floor and your bum and back supported by the chair.
Bring your attention to your breath.
Notice the movement of your ribcage as you breathe.
And with each out breath,
Just feeling yourself settle a little more deeply into the chair,
Become stiller.
You can let your shoulders relax and release,
Letting all that tension go like steam.
And feeling the shoulders drop a little.
Let your brain relax too,
Let your brain soften and release tension.
Again,
Like the shoulders,
Just let the tension release like steam.
All the busyness,
All the angst.
And let your brain drop a little,
Sink to the bottom of your brain case and spread a little.
And now bring to mind an event or a person who's,
Or that is causing you emotional discomfort,
That makes you feel bad in some way,
Might make the event or memory,
Might you feel angry,
Upset,
Mortified,
Desperate,
Shamed,
Jealous,
Vengeful.
Just bring an event that's taking you away from your peaceful,
Grounded,
Loving self into something less comfortable,
That's basically taking you out of that state.
And as you play the memory or the event or bring to mind the person,
Just notice how it makes you feel.
Notice the bodily feeling.
You might even put your hand on where you feel it.
Just notice the physical sensation.
We're not interested in the story around the event,
The person,
Just notice how it or they make you feel.
And now focusing on the feeling,
Just imagine turning the feeling up as if there were a dial on it.
You can turn the feeling up to 10,
Up to max,
And then off the scale.
And just say to yourself internally,
I allow this,
I accept this,
And I surrender to this and let the feeling have you,
No resisting,
No analyzing,
No avoiding,
Just sit in it and let it have its way with you,
Fully feel it.
And now you may notice there's a feeling under,
There's another feeling here now.
Again,
Notice where in your body it is and sit in this feeling,
Allow it to be felt and fully internally expressed.
So you may want to howl,
Rage,
Roar,
Sob,
Sigh,
Just surrender to this feeling,
Sit in it and let it have its way with you.
And you can repeat internally,
I allow this feeling,
I accept this feeling,
And I surrender to this feeling.
Be still in it,
Open to it,
Let it have its way with you.
And now bring your body,
Bring your attention back to your body and notice what is here now.
It may be another uncomfortable feeling,
Or it may actually be pleasant now,
You may find it's more peaceful,
More quiet,
More still,
Or even just a place of emptiness,
Whatever is here is welcome,
There's no judging.
Just allow this now,
And it may be another negative layer,
We'll call negative an emotionally painful layer,
Just allow this too if that's what's here.
Again,
Sitting in the feeling and with the feeling,
Saying internally,
I allow this,
I accept this,
And I surrender to this,
And open and let it have its way with you.
And now drop deeper to what's beneath,
What's deeper,
What is here now?
Whatever is here,
Just saying again,
I allow this,
I accept this,
And I surrender to this.
Be still,
Open to it,
Let it have its way with you.
Let it annihilate you.
Sometimes despair comes up,
Or another devastating emotion,
Just the same,
Just allow it,
You may believe it'll kill you,
It'll destroy you,
Just surrender and let it have its way with you.
It is just a thought,
Let the feeling wave through,
Wash through,
Be fully felt,
Surrender to it,
And drop deeper to what's beneath,
And allow this,
And then notice what's here now.
Allow this,
Accept this,
Surrender to this,
And as you drop deeper,
You may notice what you're dropping into has no boundary,
It's infinitely deep beneath you,
It's boundless in front and infinite behind.
It stretches to all sides,
And it's sky-like,
Space-like above,
And it's within as well as without.
Just sit in this,
Allow this,
Be this,
Rest here.
And deepen further,
Knowing this is your true nature.
You can rest in this,
Like resting in the depths of a boundless,
Bottomless ocean,
And any events in life happen way above from the surface,
Barely perturbing this,
And if anything does perturb this,
You just drop right back into this peace,
This openness,
This stillness,
This acceptance,
This love,
Whatever name you have for it in this moment.
Be still.
You can slowly bring your awareness back to your body on the chair,
And open your eyes,
Noticing that this peace,
This calm,
This oneness,
Stillness is here,
Even when you open your eyes,
And you can open your eyes into this now,
And continue your day.
Thank you.
