Hello,
My name is Claire Downham.
Welcome to this meditation,
Discovering the Calm Within,
A three principles meditation on innate well-being.
The first thing I'd like you to do is make yourself comfortable.
Find yourself a place where you will not be disturbed,
A place where it's quiet.
Sit or lie down in that place,
It's entirely up to you.
Now,
As you find yourself feeling much more comfortable and relaxed,
I want you to begin by closing your eyes and now take a few deep breaths.
You can breathe in through your nose and then breathe out through your nose or mouth.
It's completely up to you.
Now,
Bring your attention to the present moment.
Notice any sensations in your body.
Maybe you feel the urge to move a little,
To relieve some discomfort.
Make sure that you are deeply rested and comfortable.
Perhaps notice where the thing that you're lying on is supporting your body.
If your feet are on the floor,
You might notice that.
If your back is supported by something,
You might notice that feeling of support.
Allow that to bring you into the present moment.
Just observing things that are really there,
That are really happening.
And now take your attention back to your breath.
There's no need to do anything about your breath.
All you need to do is just observe it.
Just bring your focus of attention to it.
Notice that rise and fall of your chest perhaps.
Or maybe you can feel the breath as it enters and leaves your body.
Notice now that feeling of relaxation and calm through your whole body.
And just enjoy that for a moment or two.
And now I want you to visualize a calm,
Serene space within yourself.
Just notice where that is in your body.
Get the sense that that space is a space that's always available to you.
Feel that that space of calm is your connection to Universal Mind,
One of the three principles.
That it is always available to you.
That you can always access it.
That that is who you really are.
The power of consciousness,
Another one of the three principles,
Is allowing you to observe all of this.
It's bringing it all to life.
Just remember how important that awareness is to you.
Just notice that space within you.
The space of calm.
The space of relaxation.
The space of intuition and connection to Universal Mind.
And now for a moment,
Just begin to observe your thoughts.
The third principle.
Just observe them for a moment.
Watch them going across your mind.
Notice their randomness.
Notice what comes to mind.
Notice your psychology playing out.
And now reflect back to that space inside you.
That space of calm and tranquility.
Just feel how wonderful and settled you feel there.
And now take your observation back to your thinking.
Notice the difference.
Notice how it can seem as if you are observing your thinking from that wonderful place of calm inside you.
Feel yourself.
Experience yourself as the observer of your thinking.
Notice your thinking and then notice that calm space inside you.
Notice your thinking and then notice that calm space inside you.
Notice how you are observing your thinking from that space.
That you are that space.
That you are not your thinking.
Sometimes in all our lives,
Our thinking seems like the most important thing.
It tells us stories.
It leads us into comparison.
It judges.
It criticizes.
It goes flying off into the future.
There are some things that the mind just does.
There are some types of thinking that are just part of being human.
That that's not who you really are.
Notice the thinking again going across your mind.
And now reflect back to that place of calm.
Remember that you always have this space of calm.
This serene space within yourself.
And you can access that any time you need it.
You can retreat to it any time you want to.
It's really that easy.
It's always there.
Always inside.
Waiting to be accessed.
Now,
Just observe that feeling of calm and feel it spreading over your whole body.
Embrace the feeling of calm as it washes over you.
As it releases any tension in your body.
Really enjoy this feeling of calm.
Enjoy accessing this calm in this moment.
But know that you do not need this practice to do that.
The calm is always available.
It's always possible for you.
You don't need to do anything.
But this practice is helpful in helping you to relate differently to your thinking and to see that space of calm within you.
This practice is just a reminder of what is true and what is always available to you.
So you may wish to come back to it again and again.
Just as a reminder.
But what you'll also notice is that day in and day out,
You increasingly find it easy to access that place of calm without needing to do anything.
To drop into it.
To drop out of your thinking.
To become the observer of your thinking and to drop into calm.
It's always available.
It's who you really are.
So now it's time to end this meditation.
To come back into the present moment and to enjoy the rest of your day knowing that this feeling of calm is always available to you.
So I'd like you just to give your fingers a wriggle and your toes.
Begin to bring your awareness back into the world around you.
What's happening.
The sounds in the room.
Take one great big deep breath.
And whenever you're ready,
Just open your eyes and come back into enjoying your day.
Remember that you can come back to this meditation again and again to remind you of the truth of who you are.
To remind you of your innate well-being.
And that you are peace,
Love and wisdom.
Sometimes your thinking will guide you away from that.
But it's getting easier and easier every day.
To access that calm inside.
My name's Claire Downham.
I'm the Queen of Calm.
Thank you so much for meditating with me today.
