What if overwhelm is wisdom?

No don't go,

Please stay and listen.

Because here's something that's going to change your view of overwhelm and might bring you a little bit of ease.

We've been taught that overwhelm is telling us we need to do more.

If we just got through the list,

If we just cleared all our tasks,

If we just got ahead even,

That feeling of overwhelm would go away.

Can you hear your inner critic backing all of this up?

Telling you that you should be able to cope better than you're doing so.

Telling you that you shouldn't feel overwhelmed.

You should be on top of it all.

Overwhelm is not a sign of failure.

Overwhelm is a wise nudge inwards.

Guidance for you to look inside.

It's not your body saying too much to do and if you just get it all done you'll feel better.

It's really your body saying too much thinking and a lot of that thinking you might have noticed is coming from that inner critical voice.

The voice that just keeps saying you're not enough,

You're not doing enough,

You're not earning enough,

You're not being enough,

You're not doing enough for your family and friends.

You're just not enough.

It's time to stop listening to that voice.

I invite you to breathe right now.

Just breathe in and out and pause in between.

In and out.

In and out.

In and out.

And feel your feet on the floor and your body supported if that's the case.

My invitation is to soften.

To soften rather than strive.

You can do that every time overwhelm shows up in its fairly predictable way.

You can just pause.

You can soften and just take the next step.

Overwhelm isn't saying you're broken.

It's your system speaking to you from a place of love.

Your clever system.

Your amazing,

Wonderful system.

Just letting you know that you're thinking a little too much.

Remember just pause and breathe and feel what's there.

Much love.
