Hello,
I'm Claire and this meditation for you uses the flow and rejuvenating energy of the rivers.
It can be useful if you're feeling stuck,
Hopeless or powerless at this time of anxiety.
Wishing you the very best in your practice.
Making sure you're safe and comfortable,
Whether sitting or lying,
I invite you to gently shut your eyes.
Allow your attention to fall away from the head and shoulders,
Back down into your body as if through your eye sockets and spend a moment bringing your focus,
Attention and intention into the interior of your body.
Breathing in and out in your own time,
In your own rhythm.
Allowing the outside world to fall away and the reality of your presence in the here and now to fill your being.
Breathing in and out in your own natural rhythm.
Literally noticing the pressure of your body as it touches the support of the earth,
Aware of the space over your head.
Coming into the here and now,
Your body,
This time,
This space.
And now I invite you to bring your imagination to the banks of a river,
Your river.
It may be a bubbling stream or the banks of a wide,
Stately,
Softly flowing river.
It may be a place you know and have been to.
It may be completely imaginary.
Please be open to receiving whatever image comes to you.
It may well vary each time you practice this meditation.
Trust yourself.
Your inner self knows what it needs.
I invite you to imagine sitting by it,
Lying by it.
You may be trailing your hand if it's close like a babbling brook or admiring it from the bank.
Taking some time to be with the river's flow.
As you breathe,
Allow yourself to feel the movement,
Whether it's bubbling and eddying around little rocks or flowing smoothly.
Your river flows from one side to the other,
Never-ending.
Sitting by your river,
Feeling its flow.
And now taking a situation which feels immovable or in which you feel stuck and anxious.
Imagine folding it up into your hand as if scrunching a piece of paper and throw it far into the current.
Maybe a feeling,
It may be a situation,
It may be a long-term pattern,
But there's some anxiety there.
You don't need it.
Allow yourself to see that stuckness floating away.
And you can do this again and again.
So whether the anxiety is rooted in a specific situation or is a long-term feeling,
Name it,
Notice it,
Put it in your paper and allow yourself the power and freedom of scrunching it up and giving it to the powerful forces of your river to carry it away.
You can do this again and again.
This anxiety,
That situation,
This worry,
That seeming block.
Don't judge.
It's okay.
Give it all away.
And when you feel you have come to a natural close of giving to the river,
Take another rest.
Allow your imagination to go where it wants.
Maybe you want to walk or dance by the river.
Maybe you want a picnic.
Maybe you want to stretch out and have an imaginary nap.
We are in magic time.
Take as long as you need.
It's your time.
Enjoy.
Slow.
Letting go.
Allowing the ongoing currents to move on and on.
Allowing the situations in your life to be movable.
To be fluid.
To have flow.
You can always pause this audio and take as long time as you want to enjoy your time by the riverbank,
Enjoying its fluidity and flow.
But now if you're ready,
Coming back to the breath,
Coming back to your body.
Emerging your out breath with the flow of the river.
Breathing in.
Breathing out and letting go.
Breathing in.
Breathing out and letting go.
Enjoying the power of letting go.
Enjoying the feeling of continual movement.
Everything taking back control.
And as I bring this practice to an end,
Know that the river's flow is there for you whenever you need it.
Thank you so much for practicing with me.
I look forward to next time.
Goodbye.
