Hello,
And welcome to our practice of Buta Shuddhi.
We're going to start our practice by finding a comfortable seated position,
Making sure that the shoulders are aligned over the hips,
And that the ears are aligned over the shoulders,
Finding that alignment so that the head,
Neck,
And trunk are all in one straight line,
Feeling the weight of your body grounding down,
And at the same time feeling your energy rise up.
In this place of balance and connectedness,
Allow yourself to close your eyes.
Begin to focus your attention at Muladhara Chakra,
The abode of the earth element at the base of the spine.
Visualize here a yellow square surrounded by four petals.
In the center of the yellow square,
Visualize the Kundalini in the form of a sleeping serpent.
Its body is as brilliant as a thousand flashes of lightning.
From here,
You will begin to create a root lock by squeezing here at Muladhara Chakra,
Engaging Mula Bandha,
Drawing that energy inward and upward.
Allow your mind to reach the central point in the region of this root lock.
The presiding force of this chakra is contained in the Bija mantra of the earth element,
LAM.
Finally repeat,
Not less than 16 times,
The seed syllable,
LAM.
Focus your mind on the Kundalini Shakti that resides at Muladhara as you repeat the mantra,
LAM.
Orth.
Now visualize the Kundalini energy awakening and traveling upward until it reaches Svadhisthana chakra,
The abode of water.
The water element is held here just above the root of the genitals in the sacral center.
Visualize in this space an ocean blue circle with a white crescent moon in the center.
This circle is surrounded by six petals.
Maintain this image in your mind's eye.
The presiding force of this chakra is contained in the bija mantra of the water element,
Vam.
Mentally repeat,
Not less than 16 times,
The bija mantra for the water element,
Vam.
Now visualize the upward traveling Kundalini Shakti until it reaches Manipura chakra,
The abode of fire at the navel center.
Visualizing here a red triangle.
This triangle is enclosed in a circle of 10 petals.
Maintain this image.
The presiding force of this chakra is contained in the bija mantra of the fire element,
Ram.
Mentally repeat,
Not less than 16 times,
The mantra of the fire element,
Ram.
Visualizing now.
Now the upward traveling Kundalini Shakti until it rises up to meet Anahata chakra.
This is the abode of air at the heart center.
Visualizing here at the heart two smoky gray interlocking triangles.
These triangles are encircled by a 12 petaled lotus flower.
In the space at the intersection of the triangles,
Visualize jiva,
The individual soul in the form of a flame.
The presiding force of this chakra is contained in the bija mantra of the air element,
Yam.
Mentally repeat,
Not less than 16 times,
The mantra of the element of air,
Yam.
Now the upward traveling Kundalini Shakti.
Now,
Visualize the upward traveling Kundalini Shakti in which the individual consciousness has dissolved until it reaches the Shuddha chakra,
The abode of ether at the base of the throat.
Visualize here a sky blue circle that is surrounded by a 16 petaled lotus flower.
The presiding force of this chakra is contained in the bija mantra of the space element,
Yam.
Mentally repeat,
Not less than 16 times,
The mantra of the space element,
Ham.
Now,
Visualize the upward traveling Kundalini Shakti.
Visualizing now the upward traveling Kundalini Shakti rising up until it reaches Ajna chakra,
The center between the eyebrows.
This is the home of the mind.
This chakra consists of a yellow triangle surrounded by a circle.
A bright white flame is enclosed in the triangle.
Outside the circle are two radiating petals.
With this image at the third eye,
Mentally repeat the mantra,
So ham.
The Visualize now the upward traveling Kundalini Shakti until it reaches Sahasrara,
The thousand petaled crown center,
The abode of the primordial spiritual master,
Pure consciousness.
At this center,
All colors,
Forms,
And shapes dissolve.
This chakra is beyond the realm of mind and therefore beyond the realm of imagination.
When you experience the center,
It consists of countless rays of light,
Radiating white light.
However,
So that the mind can conceive it,
It is often visualized as a thousand petaled lotus with a pinkish aura.
However it comes to you now,
Maintain this image at the crown and now mentally repeat the mantra,
Hamsa.
One thing,
O reinforcement,
That is not social GI,
They maintain the power to get to zero.
Keeping the consciousness at Sahasrara chakra,
We will begin three cycles of pranayama.
These cycles will require you to retain your breath after the inhalation.
For the first cycle,
While repeating the mantra yam,
The bija mantra for air,
Begin to inhale deeply through the left nostril.
While inhaling,
Visualize the smoky color in the left nostril.
Then close both nostrils at the top of the breath.
Retain the breath while repeating the seed syllable yam.
Imagine your whole heart region is filled with the air element,
Drying up all toxins and impurities in the body.
And then exhale out the right nostril,
Repeating the mantra yam.
Closing the left nostril as you inhale through the right,
Repeat the bija mantra of the fire element ram.
During the second cycle,
Visualize a bright flame of light in the right nostril during the inhalation.
Close both nostrils now at the top and retain the breath while repeating ram.
Imagine the light consuming all the impurities that were dried up during the first cycle.
And then slowly exhale through the left nostril,
Repeating the mantra ram.
During the exhalation,
Visualize the light emanating from the heart region and exiting through the left nostril,
Taking all impurities with it.
Finally,
Closing the right nostril,
Inhale through the left nostril,
Repeating the seed syllable vam,
The syllable of nectar,
Which is also the seed mantra of water.
After completing the inhalation,
Retain the breath and concentrate on ajna chakra,
Feeling the nectar slowly flow through all of the chakras here and bringing that subtle divine force with it to fill your whole body.
During the retention,
Repeat the mantra vam and then exhale through your right nostril,
Repeating the mantra vam.
When you've completed these three cycles of pranayama,
Let your consciousness descend toward the lower chakras.
Remember,
The kundalini shakti swallowed all of the elements,
Energies,
And issues associated with each of the chakras as it traveled upward.
Now,
As it travels downward,
Those elements and energies re-emerge,
Purified now by the kundalini shakti.
The mind is left at the ajna chakra.
The space element is left at the throat.
Social consciousness and the air element return to the heart.
The fire returns to the navel center.
Water returns to the pelvic center.
The earth element returns to the base of the spine.
Finally,
The kundalini shakti rests again at the muladhara chakra.
This completes our bhuta shuddhi practice.
Namaste.
