A very big aloha.

I'm Reverend Cindy Palos and I wanted to talk about slowing down.

You know,

It occurred to me how we have become so used to multitasking.

And I think with AI,

We have found ourselves taken to another level.

I can't keep up with what's going on with AI.

I don't know about you,

But it seems like more and more is under the control of AI.

You know,

AI can go pretty fast.

It's pretty amazing,

Actually,

How much AI can cover.

But is it good?

Yeah,

I really have to question.

I know and I can understand the value of AI.

But I do question how much input we can take and how much we can lose by counting on something to do everything for us.

Now,

It hasn't come to the point where AI can meditate that I know of.

And I also have seen what's happened is how we're speeding up everything and trying to do more and more and more with the use of what we have available to us.

Just for example,

What you would do when you're driving,

You obviously can now have your phone connected and many people talk on the phone or have other things going on the phone while they're driving.

And you'll notice that,

I'm pretty sure,

I live on Maui and it's like,

Oh,

It's much,

Much slower than when you go to a city on the mainland where people are driving in traffic.

But you do see here,

Even here,

More and more people wanting to go faster.

And faster.

And losing their temper if you're going even 10 miles over the speed limit isn't enough for a lot of people anymore.

And it's kind of funny because usually you land up at the signal at the same time or maybe a minute or two earlier.

But it's the energy of,

I'm in a hurry,

I'm in a hurry,

I'm important,

I gotta do this,

I gotta do that.

And there's a lot of that going on in the world.

I see this in an interesting way when you travel.

Because as fast as you can go,

You get to an airport and you're gonna be sitting there a lot of times these days for hours and hours.

In fact,

They say,

What,

Two hours you get to the airport,

Two hours ahead of time.

If it's kind of a smaller trip,

Three hours if it's going to Europe or going abroad.

And it's fascinating how you rush,

Rush,

Rush to get to the airport,

Go through all that stuff.

And then you sit,

Sit,

Sit,

And you wait,

Wait,

Wait,

Wait,

Wait.

So it's,

It's,

That's I think one of the perfect examples of speeding up and having to slow down.

And seeing how you can fill your time,

You know,

In that,

That space,

That space of waiting.

Now I think that space,

It is a perfect time to really,

To be able to just relax and to set your mind and to reset your mind if you've been very stressed.

I mean,

Anyone can tell of the stress level of people in line at airports.

There's such a major stress level going on,

My gosh,

That you really have to deprogram a little bit before you get on that plane.

Well,

Then there's those who don't,

There's those who drink.

And you've seen what's been happening with people losing it on airplanes,

My gosh.

People who get angry and people who have,

A lot of them I really do think have been drinking too much.

But,

But it's,

It's kind of I think a reflection of our time,

Of what's going on.

I think a lot of people when they're stressed do drink or use other forms of escaping because they can't slow themselves down.

They can't deal with being able to take their mind and put it in a better state.

Naturally,

They have to do it artificially and that can be,

As you noticed,

Rather dangerous.

And so what we're seeing with the speeding up and the situation where not,

People do not understand how to relax or how to be still or how to just be present,

Where it's become,

I think,

Rather dangerous at times.

And there's,

There's so many signs.

To me,

There's many,

Many signs out there where this has become a problem.

And I think that if you are a person who meditates,

If you are a person who understands the value of going within,

You are having to deal with this.

You're having to understand this.

You're also learning how you can de-stress,

Relax,

Go inside,

Take time to just be.

And this is a,

This is a great gift.

This is an amazing gift to be able to do this.

I mean,

I think it's very valuable to start your day this way.

And I think it's also very valuable to end your day this way.

And there's ways you can even re-bring that energy that you have in morning meditation or other times of meditation to be with you and to recreate it at times when you need it during the day,

Maybe right,

Maybe around lunchtime or some other time that might be stressful.

We have created an amazing amount of stress at work.

And I don't think it's good for people.

I'm sorry,

I'm old school.

I've been around a long time.

I think the level of intensity that we're creating for people is not natural.

And I think that's why we've been seeing so many problems.

Now,

If you add to that what we've seen with like here,

The fires that happened,

And of course,

Los Angeles and other places where the fires happen.

Now,

How do people under that kind of stress,

Going through what they've gone through,

Have to deal with still being able to function in a working situation while dealing with that kind of intensity with stress.

There's so much needed to have that time to recover from a life changing situation that you might have gone through,

Especially if you lost a house,

You know,

Or lost a place to live,

You know,

Or,

I mean,

That is such a life changing thing,

You can't just pretend nothing happened.

And trying to force people to continue on,

Because you need the money more than ever,

Right,

To survive.

It's a recipe for trouble.

I mean,

Anyone could see that this is not taking rocket science to figure out what we're doing.

And so the thing that we have to do is realize,

Again,

For survival,

For understanding,

For communication,

For being able to function,

We really have to take some time to be able to be still.

To take some time to de-stress without trying to do a million things at once.

I mean,

That's what Sundays,

Sundays were originally for.

But you know,

It's okay,

You know,

Some people can't do that because they have to work on Sundays,

Because they need the money,

Because it's taking so much money to survive,

To live,

To rent a place,

To live in a place now.

And so we're going to have to realize how we have to self-regulate,

How we have to take the time,

Whether it's maybe going to a park at the end of the day,

Or finding a way to have a little time.

Now,

Everyone has their own ways of doing this.

I've seen some people,

They do it by watching TV,

You know,

It's like,

They go into this like zombie state,

Right,

Just watching TV.

And I'm not gonna judge it,

It's whatever,

Whatever gets you through the night.

But it isn't the same being a zombie,

In a zombie-like state,

Just spacing out.

Because then what you're doing is you're taking that into your consciousness,

Whatever you're watching,

Or whatever,

That becomes part of your,

Your psyche.

So again,

The importance of just being,

Just breathing,

Just allowing yourself to let go,

Just to let go of all that stress,

Let go of what you think you have to do.

Just think of the words,

I have to do,

I have to do this,

I have to do this,

I have to do this.

It's not a good state of mind to be in,

To have to do all those things,

Right?

It's putting stress on yourself,

A lot of stress on yourself to have to do all that stuff.

And you never know these days when you have to do things,

Who you're dealing with,

And what kind of stress level they're dealing with.

I'm seeing more and more people becoming dangerously on edge.

And so it's almost like you have to navigate pretty carefully the way you do anything these days.

And to be in a very calm and present state of mind in meditation is one of the best antidotes for all of those problems.

And,

And to just be able to breathe.

And you know,

If you practice breathing before you meditate,

That you can use that same breath in your day when there's stressful situations that come.

You can just breathe,

You know,

You learn,

You learn to use that ability to breathe in stressful situations.

It's so valuable,

And it's so easy to get swept up where you might even forget.

I can just pause,

You know,

I can just take a pause,

And I can breathe,

And I can allow myself to get back to center,

And I can get through what I'm getting through.

One way or the other,

You will.

It's okay.

It doesn't seem like it at the time,

But strangely,

You always do.

And to just do that at the end of the day,

What a great gift.

Who knows what you've gone through during the day?

But just at the end of the day,

To allow yourself to breathe,

And to relax,

And to completely get back to your core,

To your center,

To be grateful for your day,

To be grateful for getting through your day.

It's such a great way to end your day,

By being grateful,

By breathing,

Just allowing yourself to go,

Okay,

I made it through the day.

I think more and more,

As things intensify,

And as what we see is going on in the world,

We're gonna have to really,

Really recommend to ourselves daily that we do this,

That we go to our core,

That we breathe,

That we meditate,

That we don't get swept up in the intensity of what's going on out there,

That we don't let getting to where we're going,

Or driving in traffic,

We don't let it disturb us,

Get to us,

You know.

We are in self-preservation mode a lot these days,

And this in the self-preservation is meaning staying in your center,

Staying in your core,

Staying calm,

Breathing,

Relaxing,

Taking time at the end of the day,

Take a walk,

You know,

Take a walk in nature,

Remember what it's all about,

Take the time,

You know,

Just take the time to smile,

Take the time to breathe,

Take the time to be,

To be still,

To be still,

Know that you are God,

Inside there's that God in you.

And I just wanted to encourage that as I was seeing what was going on the other day when I was out in traffic.

I really think that just doing some of those things,

Just taking the time to meditate,

Taking the time to breathe,

Taking the time to de-stress,

Taking the time to be grateful,

Really can make a huge difference in your life.

And I pray you be able to find that center,

That core,

And that ability.

God bless you always.
