
Overcoming Sensory Overload
Many people can experience Sensory Overload. It can also be especially enhanced if you're an empath, or have autism and even Fibromyalgia. There are ways you can deal with this. One way is to meditate. It feels good and it's good for you.

Aloha,
I'm Reverend Cindy Palos,
And I thought I'd talk about a subject that really involves so many people,
But especially people who are very sensitive,
Who might have some forms of autism and empaths.
Empaths as well are certainly subject to sensory overload.
S sensory overload happens when you're just getting too much information.
You're getting too much input from your senses.
They say five senses,
But you know what?
We have so many more senses than five senses.
When we are so involved with computers,
With our phones,
Of course our cell phones,
From TV,
From everything that we have pinging and binging and getting to us,
It can really get to the point where it's too much.
When you go into that kind of overload,
It's all of a sudden like,
Well,
You can shut down,
You can freak out,
You can just do a lot of things to try to escape it.
But if you're not really aware consciously of what's going on,
And you don't have any inner warning signal,
Then you could be getting into some dangerous territory,
Especially if you're in relationships with people who don't understand why you're doing what you're doing.
They're saying that so many people say that there's health conditions that can also be influenced by this,
Besides autism.
There's traumatic stress syndrome,
Doesn't that make sense?
Fibromyalgia was one I found about,
And I have had fibromyalgia,
And I never put the two and two together.
There are things you can do.
There are many things actually you can do.
One of them is by meditating.
Yes,
You guessed it,
Meditation.
The other is breathing,
Conscious breathing exercises,
And physical exercising,
Without your headphones,
Without your distraction of your phone,
Just exercising.
And diet,
Of course,
Can make a difference as well.
Think about how diet is used by us subconsciously to fuel us up,
To get us through things.
You may drink extra coffee,
Caffeine,
Sugar,
To make us feel better when we're feeling like we don't feel good because we're overloaded.
We have this amazing system,
And our whole being and our mind is an amazing functioning system,
And it wasn't really designed to be in the overwhelm and overload that we have created for it in this day and age with computers.
In fact,
Our mind is a lot like a computer.
What happens when you're trying to do too much on a computer,
Right?
I mean,
Sometimes you're just overloading your computer,
And it just shuts down.
And of course,
If that happens,
You get upset.
You may lose information,
And the same thing can happen with you when you're overloaded.
So you have to be able to learn how to be calm,
Focused,
And relaxed.
And it's very interesting that if you go into this path learning that you can deal with this and taking action to actually make a difference in the way you deal with it,
That you start to feel like you're not as overwhelmed because being overwhelmed can make you anxious.
It can trigger anger,
Frustration,
And depression.
And all of these things are really not good for your entire body.
It's also very bad for your relationships,
Right?
And it's very bad for your,
It could be your jobs as well because you don't quite know what's going on,
But you don't like it.
You don't like being overwhelmed.
How many people during the holidays just feel or say,
I'm so overwhelmed?
Because if you have a regular schedule,
Which is already a lot,
And then you add another layer onto that,
Which may be buying gifts or having to go to parties or a lot of things that you do during the holidays,
Mailing out cards or sending out gifts,
Standing in line with the post office,
A lot of those things can add to your anxiety.
And what happens when we're trying to do things that take time?
Well,
Many times you'll be,
How many times have you been in a line at a post office and you see everyone on their phone trying to deal with things,
Right?
So even when you're in a line,
You're connected and you're not able to escape stuff.
And it might really help to do a few things.
As I said,
Make a list of what you are feeling and find a way to keep a journal,
To find ways that you're dealing with it and actually track how you think you're doing.
You do this when you go on a diet many times,
Right?
You keep track of all the foods you eat,
You know,
You keep track in your life,
Right?
You can keep track of how it works when you feel good after you exercise.
And by realizing,
By taking a walk without distractions,
You can really feel better and you can let go of all that overload.
And you can do even more than that.
You can just breathe and relax and just clear out all the overload that's in your entire mind and body and emotions.
And in meditation,
You can do exactly the same thing.
You can start your meditation by just going into trigger states to know that you're going to feel good.
You can sit down and if you're using an app like Inside Timer,
Which I do,
Put that app without being too close,
Somewhere out of your reach.
So just in case something pings or something bings,
You won't respond.
This is your time to be still.
This is your time to let go of all that overload.
This is your time to feel good,
To breathe,
To let your mind be at peace.
And there is the ability to find that inner peace when you meditate.
So let's just do some of that.
Let's just go to that wonderful place of peace inside.
And just do a scan here.
Just be aware,
Mindfully aware of what's going on.
When you are mindful and aware of what's going on,
You really might feel that,
Okay,
I can step back and not be involved.
I can be the objective observer.
And when you're in that wonderful space,
You're not reacting,
You're watching,
You're noticing,
And you're allowing yourself to be in a good place,
Which we're doing right now.
So let's just take some deep breaths.
Let's get comfortable,
Shut out the outer distractions,
Let it all go and know that you're in a wonderful,
Safe space right now.
A wonderful place of peace.
And believe that,
Okay.
Believe that this is a wonderful place where you are safe,
Where there's no outer distractions,
There's no one needing you or wanting you that can get to you right now.
You're in your place of peace.
Let's breathe in.
And hold your breath for a couple of counts.
And just breathe out.
Release as you breathe out.
Calmly breathing in,
Aligning yourself,
Your body,
Mind,
And soul,
And breathe out and releasing anything that may be infringing on your state of peace.
Breathing in,
Holding your breath for a second,
And breathing out and letting go,
Just letting go,
Letting go.
Nothing to do here,
But just be aware of your breath.
Breathing in,
Being still,
And breathing out.
And now allow yourself to close down anything that may be there in your mind that may be kind of left open that may be trying to crawl back into your consciousness.
Is there anything that you need to let go of right now that may be going,
I need your attention,
I need your attention.
Like,
Oh,
Let that go.
Just close that box off and just like,
Okay,
That's all good.
Let it go.
Everything in your feeling or your ego that may be feeling like it's been having a hard time or wanting attention.
Just recognize that that happens and just say,
It's okay.
It's all right.
I'm here.
Everything's okay right now.
And breathe that in and hold it and release it,
Release it,
Release it.
Breathing in and knowing everything is in a good space.
And right now within you,
You have so much space that's freed up to just be here now.
Breathing in that energy that allows you to just be.
And breathing out and letting go of any tension that might've been left over in your body.
Let your head be clear.
Let your neck be released of any tension or muscles there that are kind of tight.
Just let that go.
Breathe in and feel that letting go and go to your shoulders and let that energy all go and feel your shoulders coming down.
Breathing in deep into your torso,
Filling your heart with wonderful space,
Love,
Filling your heart.
Going deeper as you breathe into your heart.
Take a breath of love,
Hold it and release it and let any tension there,
Anything that's hurt there go.
Going to go deeper and deeper into your heart.
Just breathing love into your heart.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Connecting with your emotions and allowing all of that heart energy to spread to all of your emotions,
Till you feel that love light filling all of your body.
Breathing in and allowing the energy going down to your solar plexus and let your liver and your kidneys and your stomach and your pancreas and your spleen,
Anything that has been overloaded with tension,
Just fill it with light and love.
Breathe in and just let it be all full of good,
Wonderful energy and light through all of the cells of everything in your organs.
Feel the healing energy balancing there.
And breathing in again and going deep into your second chakra.
Are there any hidden feelings you haven't dealt with?
Any fear,
Any anger?
Just see it.
Let it know that you're okay.
Sometimes your emotions don't realize you are okay and they hold a space there in your body.
Just let any of that go,
Feeling good,
Sending energy and love to all of your pelvic area.
And breathing in and sending love to the base chakra,
That fire energy there,
Just send it love.
And let that love go down your thighs,
Either the far thigh and then into your knees,
The right knee,
The left knee,
Sending that energy down to your calves,
The right calf and the left calf,
Going deeper and deeper into your ankles and into your feet.
And allow any energy that you've held onto to go into the earth,
Completely seeing that go and being released.
And now see a wonderful field of protective light from the bottom of you and your feet all the way going up and up and into your base of your spine and up your spine,
Into your head and beyond.
And now send it above your head area and you are now dwelling in a protective,
Wonderful healer of light and love.
And that light and love out in front of you and behind you to either side of you and you are now completely in a wonderful field of light and love and all is well.
Just breathing now and dwelling in that place where your objective observer can be free of any stress by just being in that safe space,
The place where you do not have to react or engage.
You can just be present in the spirit of your own energy field and bathe in that energy and allow that energy to fill you with a wonderful knowingness,
A knowingness that you are here right now and in this very moment all is well.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Relax.
Go deeper,
Deeper in and deeper out.
And now from that space,
That wonderful space of your objective observer,
How do you see yourself feeling?
Is there anything you need to send love to?
Anything that's left there that might need some attention and a little more love?
If so,
Send that energy of light and love to whatever needs to be dealt with and let it be healed.
Let yourself feel that good energy of the love coming and healing you.
Breathe in deep and just breathe out.
How do you feel?
Allow yourself to feel good.
Just feel good.
Let a smile come to your face.
Let peace come to your space.
Breathing deeply in and slowly come back as you breathe out.
Come back into your conscious awareness.
Come on back into your body and your mind and your energy field.
Let yourself feel restored,
Renewed,
Rejuvenated.
And we're slowly coming out of meditation and know that you can write down anything that may have come to you so that you can further that and deal with that and your life and in your meditation.
And allow yourself to bring this wonderful feeling,
This feeling good into the rest of your activities and the rest of your day or the rest of your night.
I thank you from my heart and soul for being present and being aware of how you can go to that wonderful space inside and overcome the overwhelm by just being in the moment present there within.
