Meditations, Prayers And Stretches For Flying
This is an excerpt from my audio book, "How to Fly With Less Stress." I firmly believe using the tools of meditation, prayers, affirmations, and stretches can make a huge difference when we fly. Here I share a Chapter, on Postive Thinking.

Chapter 2,
Positive Thinking.
Worry is our subconscious fears running out of control.
We think about everything that could go wrong and become victims of ourselves.
Negativity and anxiety can actually cause what we don't want to happen to happen.
Our thoughts have great power so when we dwell on worry,
We're doing nothing but harm to ourselves.
Stress created from worry harms our health and our relationships.
It's as though we're doing a Google search with our mind trying to find everything that could go wrong and our mind will comply until we stop it.
The good news is that we can redirect our thoughts and reprogram where our mind goes.
Experts estimate that the mind thinks between 60,
000 to 80,
000 thoughts a day.
Do you have any idea what you're thinking with those thoughts?
That's an average of 2,
500 to 3,
300 thoughts per hour.
That's incredible.
Other experts estimate possibly a smaller number of 50,
000 thoughts a day,
Which means 2,
100 thoughts per hour.
How many of those thoughts are positive and how many might be negative?
Are you even aware of them?
Do a little exercise and monitor your thoughts for a minute.
Be present and clear without your mind running out of control.
Can you do it?
Just take a minute.
An interesting way of doing this is to be aware of who is being aware while you allow yourself to just be.
It's interesting,
But if you give the mind something to focus on,
It will do what you tell it to do and that distracts it from running out of control.
Give your mind direction.
You can control and direct your mind.
A couple of quotes from ancient times remind us that worry is not a new thing.
Publius Cirrus said,
It's idle to dread what you cannot avoid.
Seneca said,
The mind that is anxious about future events is miserable.
One of the great teachers of the 20th century,
Meher Baba said,
Don't worry,
Be happy.
Here's some ways to think positively.
Visualize.
Visualization exercises refocus the mind from worrying and work as a subtle form of self-hypnosis.
Our thoughts believe what we visualize.
Our thoughts are living things that carry energy and power and wavelengths.
Be aware of what you're thinking.
If you find yourself slipping into darkness,
Try programming positive thoughts into your mind.
Visualize a perfect,
Peaceful spot you love.
See all the details.
Is it outside?
Can you see clouds?
What are the colors?
Are there any particular sounds you hear?
Take a deep breath and actually picture yourself right there in your perfect,
Peaceful spot.
Within a few moments,
You'll find you're feeling that wonderful energy from that peaceful spot.
Feel it.
Breathe it in.
Release the worries of the mind.
Give yourself positive messages.
Clear of fear,
Clear of thoughts,
Clear and here.
I am right here in this moment,
And I am clear.
And I am grateful for just being here.
A happy list.
Make a happy list.
Make a list of all the good things that have happened on your trip.
Feel the happiness and blessings.
Think of what makes you happy.
Smile as you think of what makes you happy.
And look at all of the great things that are these gifts of happiness in your life and give thanks for them.
What makes you happy?
Bring that happiness to you right now.
Be grateful.
The attitude of gratitude works wonders.
Think of all the things that you are grateful for in this life.
Start with being grateful for your life,
For your family,
For your friends,
For your loved ones,
For having food,
For your home,
For being on a trip.
Be grateful for all the many gifts you've been given.
Give thanks for those who have helped you along the way.
You'll find that the attitude of gratitude really makes you feel better.
Miracles happen.
Remember when there's that bumper sticker you'd see everywhere and it said,
Happens?
It used to be so cool.
And then the miracles happen bumper sticker appeared.
We don't know what's going to happen on our trip,
But wouldn't you like to choose to be open to miracles happening?
Miracles are happening all the time.
We just don't realize it.
In fact,
Einstein said,
There are only two ways to live your life.
As though nothing is a miracle or as though everything is a miracle.
I choose to think everything is a miracle.
Dwell in,
I can.
As the world becomes filled with an increased energy of those who think,
I can't,
It seems to be harder to just make it through the day.
Take a moment to dwell in,
I can.
Come back to the fresh place of anything is possible where you can believe a new.
Breathe it in,
Believe it,
Say it to yourself right now.
I can.
I can.
You can.
Right or wrong?
Is your mind dwelling on everything that's going wrong?
When you find yourself thinking about the things that are wrong or what might go wrong,
Stop,
Delete that thought.
Take a breath,
Clear it away.
Realize what you're doing.
Program your mind to always watch it and make a list of all the things that have gone right.
You might be surprised at how many things have gone right.
And every time you slip into what's wrong,
Stop and think about what's right.
Make a bridge.
See if you can build a bridge.
Gain some objective perception between what's really you and what's a fantasy and what's a mask you might wear and what's your ego.
Get to that point of the real you.
Take a moment and go to that place of the real you.
The image we convey to others may not be who we really are,
But we cannot hide what's inside.
And it's what's inside that will determine how we understand what we digest and how we deal with it all.
Take a couple of breaths.
What is your authentic self?
Give that real self your power,
Your energy.
As you dwell in your authentic self,
Choose that this is where you want to be.
Make a bridge.
Cross over the illusions of the fantasies and ego and dwell at that place where you really are in your authentic self.
On this journey of life,
There are lessons that can carry us over that bridge.
Be grateful for that bridge to the real true you.
Make a decision to be your authentic self on this journey.
Rewards.
Give yourself a reward for traveling.
You know what makes you feel good and what you like.
Maybe it's a membership in an airport lounge or a box of chocolates,
A Kindle,
Or maybe getting those noise killing headsets.
Giving yourself a reward for your travels can make you feel better.
We give children and pets rewards,
So why not give yourself a reward?
What reward would you like to give yourself?
If you find your inner child throwing a fit and screaming and yelling,
Give it a reward.
Restore.
Take a moment,
A very clear moment to just breathe in a restorative breath.
Breathe a deep,
Feel it entering into your being with all kinds of wonderful restorative energy throughout all of your cells.
It's a breath full of total calm.
Let this breath come into your body,
Into your mind,
Into your emotions.
Let it fill you completely with peace.
Be in this peace.
Dwell in the stillness.
Breathe in three complete breaths.
Say to yourself,
I am calm.
All is well.
I am at peace.
All is well.
I am restored and renewed and regenerated.
I breathe this peace in.
I breathe in the calm.
I feel this gift of renewal.
I am regenerated and restored,
And I am aligned with the perfect power of God's light and love.
Thank you,
God.
Release the fear.
There are many issues that can cause fear of flying.
Here are a few.
Fear of the unknown.
Being in an enclosed or crowded space if you're claustrophobic.
Being idle for a long period of time.
Being impatient.
Not wanting the loss of personal freedom.
Many of these issues can be addressed and helped by self-hypnosis.
It is very helpful to go into a centered place within and ask yourself,
What am I afraid of?
Wait a moment to hear your inner self give you an answer.
Listen to that inner child.
Respect it.
And then calm it down.
Ask for complete calm to come to you.
And recognize that answer and accept that you are okay.
This is just a secret fear.
Read some positive affirmations here and try some meditation.
And know that you will get where you're going and everything will be all right.
Joy.
Joy.
Travel with the joy of the unknown.
The world is your stage and the play has just begun.
There are so many cultures and different ways of life than we are from.
So bring a willing heart and bring an open mind and let love and understanding guide you on your journey.
Do the best to do your part to play your role on that stage of life.
We are here to learn new lessons in life.
And part of the joy of travel is learning how we can all live together.
We're all joined as one on this planet.
So have a blessed journey.
Look forward to your trip and travel with joy to the unknown.
And you might find we can all live as one.
