Aloha,

I'm Reverend Cindy Pollos and I wanted to talk about something that is very basic and very deep and very important.

That is loving yourself.

It's interesting in life how we can be very caring and very hopeful and really love a lot of people,

But sometimes we don't take the time to really explore and dig deep inside and see if we truly love ourselves.

This is a deep practice,

My friends.

It can go back to when you were a child,

When you were a baby,

When you were growing up and how much you were appreciated and how much you felt unappreciated and how much you might have felt unloved.

So it could go,

It could be a lifetime practice,

Believe me.

I'm writing my autobiography and I'm exploring some of these things that I had forgotten for a long time.

And it comes down to how many times we just have to stop and really wonder and dig deep and wonder if we are loving ourselves,

Loving ourselves enough.

Because if you don't really love yourself or recognize that you love yourself,

You might always be looking in another direction and avoiding digging deep enough inside to wonder why,

To really find out why you don't love yourself.

As you would love someone else,

A child or a mother or father,

Someone in your life that you're espoused with.

You have to love yourself.

And it's very easy for women especially,

I think,

To get so involved in giving and giving and giving that sometimes they don't stop enough to really do that deep dive and look within and really take the time in meditation to explore this very key point.

It is a key.

It's a key that unlocks a lot in yourself.

I'm writing my autobiography and it's been quite an amazing experience.

I would recommend everyone do it because you know what?

You really explore these things and you begin to remember things that you might have buried.

You might have forgotten.

You might have not thought about long,

Long,

Long time.

And once you do that,

Boy,

It's like going down that rabbit hole.

It's a little interesting and a little challenging.

But it's important.

I really believe that everyone has an important need to explore what's going on inside themselves to be clear enough to love themselves.

And once you unlock that key,

Once you begin to explore,

You might find a lot of things inside your psyche that were motivating forces you were not aware of.

And it's so important to recognize that and see that.

And it's interesting because I think some people a long time ago maybe were taught or told that it was selfish to be too concerned with yourself and be self-awareness,

That self-consciousness and self-exploration was something that was maybe a negative thing.

But it's not.

It's really not.

And I think people have sometimes gone to extreme in some generations that were younger than mine.

There was a need or a desire for people to do more and be more self-centered.

Now that's another whole issue.

If you are looking and exploring and trying to find out what's really going on in your life,

Is that self-centered?

Well,

It might be called that,

But it's not when you're doing it for the awareness of how you can improve your life,

How you can really kind of do some self-analysis that you would do if you maybe went to a therapist.

And I'll tell you something,

It's very much like that,

But you are your own therapist.

And doing it in that deeper state of meditation can really be guided by your higher self.

And if you really do it with that intention going inside,

Intent on really growing and becoming more aware,

And so you can be more loving and be more kind and be more fulfilled in life,

It's an extremely valuable thing.

It really is.

It's life-changing.

It is truly life-changing.

Now,

A lot of things are not life-changing,

But this deep dive inside yourself and looking at yourself can be life-changing.

So it's a great gift to be able to do.

Now,

How does it work?

How does it work in meditation?

Well,

I think as anything in meditation,

You have to be quiet enough,

Still enough,

And have a direction,

An intent to do this.

And then you follow that inner guidance and you go to that higher place and you're still enough that you allow your higher self to really bring you some seed thoughts.

And I love that term,

Seed thoughts.

Think of that,

How powerful a seed is and how it will grow.

And the higher mind and the higher self works with seed thoughts very powerfully.

One seed thought can last you a long time.

If you take that simple seed thought and plant it and let it grow and see where it takes you,

See what flowers from that.

A lot of times it will maybe take you back to some of the very basics that we all are aware of.

Were you loved enough?

Did your parents treat you kindly?

Did you feel that you were recognized or did you somewhere along the line shut off?

Did you somewhere shut down?

Did you get hurt a lot?

Some of that might come up,

But it's really important because behind that is that inner need to love yourself,

That inner need to forgive yourself,

That inner need to be completely humble enough to learn and accept that you can grow.

And that means going beyond the ego.

That means growing because you really want to be a good person,

A better person,

And a self-aware person.

All of this is on the path that you encounter when you are meditating daily.

Some of you might have found this.

Some of you might be aware of this.

And I'll tell you something,

There's not a lot of people doing therapy that I knew of that are on this path,

But your self,

Your soul,

Your own therapist inside can be your very best friend and your best teacher as well.

And you know,

You just do it in a simple way.

We'll just,

I'm not going to do the whole hour-long thing,

But you just get centered and you breathe and you relax and allow yourself to just be in that presence.

And you just breathe in and you hold your breath for a couple of seconds and you just release and let go.

And just do this for a little bit here where you breathe deeply in and you hold your breath and then you just let go and breathe out.

And feel comfortable as you go deeper into meditation,

Which you will as you breathe in.

And release it after a breath or two,

Just release it and let go.

And after a few breaths,

You'll start to find that you are just following your breath and you aren't distracted and you're just breathing in and feeling that moment of beautiful light and love there at the center and breathing out,

Letting your body speak about what it needs to be cleared of and recognized and light surrounding your body and protection above your body and below your body and around your body and front and behind.

All around you is this wonderful,

Beautiful,

Perfect white light.

Breathing in and breathing out and feeling totally safe as you direct yourself to go to that place inside,

That beautiful place where you have your inner self,

Your higher self that can communicate with you.

And you just greet that higher self as you would greet a beloved.

Just open your heart and allow that higher self to give you some love,

To send you that recognition that you are present.

You are here now.

You are one with your higher self.

It's a wonderful relationship.

It's a lifelong relationship with your higher self.

And as you connect with that higher self,

Listen,

Just really listen to what that higher self can tell you that will guide you,

What you encountered in your life.

You may want to go back to a particular period.

It helps to know where you wish to go,

To find out what occurred in your life and how clear you really are.

And if there's anything that needs to be cleared,

Make the request to show how you can be aware of what you need to recognize,

What you need to face,

What you need to embrace to clear anything that may be lingering there deep,

Deep inside.

Ah,

And just give yourself that space to be there and to be here now with no blocks,

Feeling totally loved by yourself.

Breathe in that love.

Breathe in that light that shines so bright upon you from your higher self and from the highest part beyond the highest self to that one source of all.

And allow yourself the time and space to connect.

Now,

I'm going to come out of the meditation now,

But you might want to just stay there and really commune with that part that's there deep inside that might have some messages for you,

Might have some memories,

Might have some gifts of awareness.

So slowly,

Slowly,

Slowly allow yourself to be in that presence as you come out of this particular time together.

And I bow in very,

Very deep gratitude for you for being willing to explore that inner truth,

That part of you that is so in need of love and recognize you are that love that can give that love to yourself so you can give more love to all those around you.

I send you my deepest love and gratitude.
