Insight The Aramaic Version Of The Lord Prayer
I have found great value in studying the original version of the Lord's Prayer. It is very different from the later translations. I realize the power of the later translations since they have been said so often, but I recorded myself going back to saying the original version daily. I did a piece with a well-recognized Indian Musician, which I found interesting and wish to share.

Aloha.
I'm Rev.
Cindy Paulus,
And for a long time I have been finding that the Aramaic version of the Lord's Prayer has been really resonating with me.
It's probably been about 10 years that I have explored this.
In fact,
I really have been enjoying quite a bit of understanding how the Aramaic version of many parts of the Bible actually were very different from translations that happened through time.
You know,
Every society,
Every time a new country and a new place come in and a new religion starts from an old one,
There's different versions that happen.
So,
Going back to the source as a resource,
I have found to be very,
Very helpful.
Now,
The interesting thing that I have found as well is that even with the Aramaic version of the Lord's Prayer,
There are many versions of that in the translation.
It just shows you,
As an example,
What can happen when you have translations.
There's people who will interpret words in different ways.
I have been using one version that resonates with me for quite a while,
And it's one I've gone back to,
And I literally say it every single day.
It makes me aware of many things when I say it.
I find it to be a little more all-inclusive,
And it doesn't have the sexism that happened through time with the versions that occurred,
Where they then separated women in a lower place than men,
And then that carried through in many ways in the translations,
Because this version says,
Father,
Mother of the Cosmos.
And it doesn't just say Father,
You know.
It says,
Father,
Mother of the Cosmos,
Which is a beautiful thing,
And it brings it up to a high level when you say,
Father,
Mother of the Cosmos.
It,
For me,
Reflects immediately that highest place of the combination of energy that is a Father and Mother as one of the Cosmos.
And then it says,
Shimmering Light of All.
What a beautiful,
I mean,
I've always loved images,
And when I have the term Shimmering Light of All,
I immediately am drawn to how beautiful that Shimmering Light of All might be.
My gosh,
It's so fantastic.
Focus your light within us,
And again,
That brings it to that point where that beautiful light,
That wonderful light,
That Shimmering Light of All can be focused right there within you.
Focus your light within us as we breathe your holy breath.
And again,
All my life I've studied how powerful breath is.
Breath sweeps mind.
It does.
Breath sweeps your mind.
And when you're focusing that light,
That Shimmering Light of All into your breath,
You're breathing in that energy that is from the highest source of all in your breath.
What an amazing image and gift that you have that you could breathe in that light that is the Shimmering Light of All right there into your breath that's a Father and Mother of the Cosmos.
And you can breathe it in,
And you can breathe it out.
It's a wonderful,
Wonderful gift to be able to focus that light within yourself.
Focus that light within you as we breathe your holy breath.
Enter the sanctuary of our heart.
Now,
Isn't it nice to be able to think of your heart as a sanctuary?
I mean,
What an amazing image of being able to see your heart as a sanctuary.
Now,
We've seen amazing temples.
We've seen amazing churches in honor of God.
But what if your heart was the sanctuary?
My gosh,
What an amazing thing right there within you.
Oh my gosh,
Focus that light within you.
You know,
Into that sanctuary that is your heart.
Into the sanctuary of our heart,
Uniting your heart with the One.
You know,
That heart of you is uniting with the One.
Oh,
Such beautiful imagery.
You know,
I mean,
This is all part of the Aramaic version of the Lord's Prayer.
So I have taken these words,
And I have shared them at times with others.
And I shared it with a wonderful musician I know who's one,
I don't know,
He's done so many,
So many fantastic projects.
And I've done about eight or nine albums combining with him.
But in this one piece,
I'm going to take that section where I say a version of the Aramaic Lord's Prayer,
And he puts it to some music.
And it kind of carries that power of having the music with the words,
Which is so nice,
You know.
And there are,
I have found that there's one or two people that have actually created a musical piece of the Aramaic,
Kind of the version of the Lord's Prayer.
They didn't resonate with me 100%.
I mean,
There's something so beautiful about the Our Father that is because of the way the music was done.
I mean,
You can find it done so many,
So many thousands of ways.
But it's a beautiful piece of music that carries it so well.
And I haven't yet been able to find the Aramaic version of the Lord's Prayer done like that.
So I speak it.
And in this piece,
I have it done by a friend who actually put some music that is,
He's got an Indian background.
So he had a more Indian version of this,
Which I will include with this.
And it just makes you aware that how everyone has their own version that relates to them.
And the gift behind that is the fact that we are uniting within ourselves,
Some connection.
And in this version,
Connecting yourself with the highest energy,
The Father and Mother of the universe,
Right?
And to be able to have that beautiful bridge that you can connect your inner self with the Father and Mother of the universe,
Is one of the most powerful things you can do.
There's all kinds of ways of worshiping.
There's all kinds of ways.
I mean,
Really thousands of ways of meditation and prayer.
But the idea behind it is to have that opening to that beautiful sanctuary within yourself where you can have that beautiful energy flow that is from the source of all within you.
And when you have that happen,
Amazing things can occur because you're not limited.
You're not limited at all.
We tend to underestimate ourselves and that power within.
And it's just because we have doubts,
You know,
But it's always good to let the doubts go,
To let that energy flow from the highest source within you.
And I really do pray that you can do that.
So,
I'm going to go over the Aramaic version of the Lord's Prayer here again.
Starting from the beginning,
Father,
Mother of the cosmos,
Shimmering light of all,
Focus your light within us as we breathe your holy breath,
Enter the sanctuary of our hearts,
Uniting within us your sacred rays.
Let your heart's desire unite heaven and earth through our union.
Help us fulfill what lies within the circle of our lives today.
Forgive our secret fears as we forgive the secret fears of others.
Let us not enter forgetfulness,
Tempted by false appearances,
For from your astonishing fire comes the eternal song which sanctifies all,
Renewed eternally in our life and throughout all creation.
Now,
I've always ended it with the phrases I've learned here in Hawaii,
Which is a mama,
A mama,
Ua noa,
The prayer is freed.
Because it just is a nice ending to a prayer,
It's releasing that prayer.
So,
I'm going to play you now something that I did with a friend,
A piece of work that,
He's from India,
He's a wonderful musician.
He's done many,
Many albums and he did a version with Indian music behind it and I thought it'd be rather interesting to hear it done in that way.
Again,
I send you my deepest blessings and the way to connect with that shimmering light of all,
That wonderful gift of being attuned to the Father and Mother of the Cosmos.
Bless you always.
Father,
Mother of the Cosmos,
Shimmering light of all,
Uniting within us the sacred rays of your power and beauty.

Thank you love Cindy! I remember one of the very first tracks on Insight timer I listen to was another one of your Aramaic prayers and it was so beautiful to me then and still is now. I also appreciate the expression of mother father God. Love and blessings to you!
