Aloha,

I'm Reverend Cindy Palus and I thought I'd talk about celebrating yourself today.

Going through a time where we celebrate holidays,

Christmas,

New Year's,

All kinds of celebrations going on.

And at the heart of all that is how do we really celebrate ourselves?

Now there's a lot of people who do have this giving nature,

Always trying to give and do more and more and more.

And if you go to what is at the heart of that,

People who give a lot really are loving people who also want it at heart,

I believe,

To be appreciated and loved in return.

And there's only one issue with this that I'd like to talk about is that sometimes we never can get enough appreciation and love unless we have that self-love,

That part that we're going to celebrate today.

You know,

It's came up recently and has been coming up with Facebook and Instagram,

How they have found that young women have been very depressed because they don't fit the image of what they see when they follow some of the people on Instagram or Facebook who look better than them.

And it's an impossible situation.

I remember when a lot of these people are completely photoshopped,

Made up,

And a lot of them are bots,

Making them super popular with millions of followers.

And the likelihood most people ever get that is very,

Very,

Very,

Very slim to nothing.

But we know that this level of beauty and attention and being a star and like is really not reasonable.

But still,

I do believe people do get influenced in social media by that.

But part of you has to realize that you're setting yourself up for letting yourself down because not a lot of those people are trying to promote their real inner qualities,

Right?

And people who are spiritual people really are trying to promote in themselves the good,

The light,

The love that's there.

And that's not the standard for a lot of people in media.

So we have to realize that some of these things in life that we see that are taken as accomplishments and ideals are really very unrealistic.

Now,

We also have to realize that there's a lot of issues that people have in their home life and their social life that really can also cause low self-worth.

There are so many people who have come from abusive relationships or a home life that was abusive,

Which breeds unfortunately low self-esteem as well.

And when you have that in your life,

Then you're setting yourself up to also continue living in that way as we know.

I mean,

It's a cycle that goes on.

They have found that three in,

One out of three women have been in a physically abusive or domestic violence situation,

And that causes very low self-esteem.

They've even found that people with single family homes sometimes have low self-esteem.

Emotionally distant parents can do this as well.

But I would like to bring up a point that isn't often talked about,

Except maybe in the spiritual you are people,

Is that the ego is involved here as well.

The ego is a trickster and the ego can,

I know a lot of people think ego means that you think yourself is better than another person,

But really and truly,

Often that is not the case.

The ego many times will actually keep you from allowing you to celebrate and recognize your strengths.

And I have to always go back to that wonderful Marianne Williamson quote that actually has often been quoted as and misquoted as from Nelson Mandela,

But she said it.

Marianne Williamson said,

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light,

Not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves,

Who am I to be brilliant,

Gorgeous,

Talented,

Fabulous?

Actually who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

You are a person who has no place in playing small,

Playing small does not serve the world.

There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We're all meant to shine as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us,

It's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,

We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,

Our presence automatically liberates others.

What a wonderful quote.

That's probably a good one to keep on your meditation table or someplace close to say,

Thank you Marianne Williamson for that because it is so,

So true.

Now there are other things you can do that can make you feel good about yourself.

You can keep a gratitude journal,

Things that you are grateful for about yourself.

You can think about things you're good at.

You can also challenge any of those negative thoughts that might come up.

I have these situations that occur in my life because I'm in an ego-based business and radio as a DJ.

There's a lot of people who I work with that really base their entire identity on their ego and they don't like other people who challenge their ego.

It's the truth.

Ego doesn't like to be challenged,

Right?

So I have to always go back to myself and meditation and go back to the truth.

I also have to have friends who make me feel good about myself.

It also helps to volunteer and help others so you do feel good about yourself.

You know,

You have to realize that unfortunately in the times that we've had over the last 21 months of COVID,

A lot of people have been having increased anxiety and depression.

And they have done studies that have found people have been eating more,

Drinking more,

Smoking more because they hide themselves in those things that you hide in when you don't feel good about yourself and when you are angry and frustrated.

Many people eat or get depressed at times like this.

So you need to boost your identity and identify with positive things that you have.

Take notes about any negative thoughts that maybe are coming up,

Slipping you into darkness.

Write them down.

Delete that thought from your mind.

Negate those thoughts when they come up.

Those negative beliefs are very,

Very harming and many times from your ego.

And when you have a thought that is negative that you find,

Write down something positive to replace it with.

Something like,

I am a thoughtful person.

I am a good person.

I am a kind person.

Remember that you do have good things that you can celebrate and you can keep a list.

Make a list of five positive things.

Then add to it regularly good things about yourself and say positive affirmations about yourself.

You have to learn to be kind to yourself.

That means being gentle to yourself at times.

To not being self-critical.

Things that you would be to someone that you love be to yourself.

Realize that you have the energy to make that choice and you can choose to recognize what you're good at.

And then you can follow that path and you can celebrate yourself.

Have a day where you celebrate who you are just like your birthday.

You can take a day to celebrate your life.

Take a day to celebrate everything that you have done that is worthy of celebration.

Now let's take a few breaths and go into meditation.

And just be aware.

Breathe in awareness and be aware of how you feel.

How are you feeling right now?

Feel your body.

Feel your head.

And know if there's any place that you hold tension and stress at.

Let's just be aware of that place.

And breathe light and love into that body.

Allow your head,

Your neck and your shoulders to be full of wonderful positive energy.

Light-filled energy.

And go into your heart.

Dwell there in your heart of hearts.

Is there anything that needs to be loved there within you?

Breathe in that part of you and accept that there might be a place that needs to be recognized,

That needs to be loved,

That needs to be healed.

Do you have a place where you have been hurt,

That you have shut off,

That you've closed down due to the pain,

Due to the trauma of life?

Breathe love into that part of your heart.

Breathe light deep into that part of your heart.

Breathe healing and love,

Unconditional love to who you are in your heart of hearts.

Allow yourself to feel the good that you are inside.

Celebrate your heart of hearts.

Breathe that celebration of love into your very being.

Let that love fill your entire body and let that energy fill your entire torso,

Your second third chakra,

All the organs there,

Fill them with love and light.

Feel how they want your love and light and give that love to your body right now.

Breathing deeply in and sending light to all of your organs,

Your stomach,

Your lungs,

Your liver,

Your kidneys,

Everything that's been full of energy that needs to be healed.

Now allow it to feel good.

Celebrate your whole body.

Allow yourself to feel your lower two chakras,

The emotions there.

Is there anything you need to forgive in yourself to let go of?

Breathe the light of forgiveness.

Say,

I love you.

I'm sorry.

Forgive me.

Thank you.

Feel that energy of forgiveness and love,

Feeling all of your lower chakras and your lower back and let your whole body be filled with this wonderful healing light.

Let it extend above you six feet,

Below you six feet,

Around you six feet,

In front of you,

Behind you,

To your sides and realize you are a shining light.

You are a beloved child of God.

You hold in you the power of goodness,

Of love,

Of light.

And take a moment right now to celebrate who you really are.

Celebrate yourself from the highest part of yourself,

Your soul and who you really are.

Celebrate all you've achieved,

All you've accomplished,

How you've gotten through so many hard times,

All that you've done.

Allow yourself to be recognized by you for the gift and the blessing that you are in life.

Feel good.

Ah.

Breathe out,

Just sigh and release anything that needs to be released.

And now slowly come back to your whole mind and your body and your consciousness.

And take the time when you come out of this meditation to make a list of good things about yourself,

Things that you can celebrate about yourself.

And remember to add to this wonderful list of all the good things that you are.

You are indeed a wonderful,

Beautiful child of light.

You are a wonderful being that has so much to offer to the world.

Don't allow anything to be a shadow to that light that you are.

Don't play small.

You're here to be enlightened,

To shine,

To make manifest the glory of God that is within you.

I celebrate you and who you are.

Thank you so much and God bless you always.
