**Note: If the mind is not really peaceful now, it might not be a perfect moment to listen to this podcast, be aware of the emotions or reactions. Why does the mind fears being empty? Is it that leads to restlessness? This talk is a meditation practice. What one needs to do is listen attentively, without getting stuck in words, examine the mind in silence, no agree or disagree, just look at the mind as it is. Doing so is already a meditation practice.

A very big part of meditation is to understand the issues of attachment deeply,

Thoroughly.

The mind is so easy to be attached to something,

Attached to an image,

A thought,

An idea,

An imagination,

Ideology,

Theory.

They all belong to the thought activities.

That's to say,

The mind is so easily trapped in thoughts.

Look around the world,

Almost everyone is trapped by thoughts in one way or another.

Almost everyone has their own petty issues arising from thoughts.

To meditate is to really understand why the mind is so easy to be attached.

Why are we attached to thoughts?

Why does the mind fear emptiness?

The very attachment manifests the fear,

The avoidance of the emptiness,

Which is a fact not verbally but actually.

All the mental activities are the neural activities.

They are full of dynamics,

Change so quickly.

They can't stay.

That's why they are empty.

But why does the mind want them to stay?

Want the thoughts,

The images,

The ideas to stay in the hope that the mind wouldn't feel empty?

It feels it has something to hold on to.

It doesn't work if it doesn't seek security.

People try to seek security from all kinds of ideas,

Thoughts in the hope to keep the emotions stable.

People derive pleasure from thoughts,

Ideas,

Images in the hope that the pleasure can be the meaning of life.
