Just Sleep Guided Meditation
This is a very peaceful and slow-paced practice for sleep, using a hypnotic type of visualisation to help relax the body and ease the mind. Including facts about how you fall asleep during the meditation may help with experiencing such sensations. This can be used before or as you fall asleep.
Transcript
Welcome to this calm and peaceful guided meditation for sleep.
Deciding to listen to this meditation is an indication of your desire to drift off deeply into a soothing and healing restful sleep.
By laying in a position that you personally find comfortable,
You can begin to allow your breathing to automatically calm by itself.
As you continue to listen and as your mind drifts off,
You will experience a very relaxed body and a quieter mind.
With everything quiet and distractions minimised,
Your brain waves slowly shift into the alpha state.
With your eyes closed,
Any change to the air around you,
Any soft sounds or light changes are noticed by the brain.
As you breathe more calmly with each consecutive breath,
Your awareness is lowered and your body begins to relax.
You may notice that some thoughts may linger,
But this is natural and will eventually fade off soon.
Take notice of the effortless rise and fall of your chest and abdomen area.
On each outward breath,
Your mind starts to become disengaged from anything,
Drifting towards more satisfying positive thoughts.
The calm pace of your natural breathing allows your head to sink down into your soft pillow.
With your awareness fading off and away from anything external,
You now only observe yourself from within.
The energy that you may feel inside may be a pulse or a wave which begins to smooth out,
Levelling your emotions,
Feelings and thoughts.
Trying not to focus too much on my voice or anything else that you may hear,
Allow your mind to drift wherever it feels comfort.
Only external sounds only allow the relaxation you feel to deepen.
Just being in this moment without attaching to anything will help to fall asleep more easily and faster.
Making your body become softer,
Your energy inside smooths out,
Allowing your chest and shoulders to dissolve into a looseness.
Now possibly experiencing light sleep,
The first stage of restfulness,
Your brain waves slow down even more.
As you continue to let thoughts go without acknowledgement,
Your heartbeat starts to slow,
Initiating the first phase of sleep.
You may experience a drifting in and out every now and then.
As you slip off,
Just go with it.
Allow your mind and body to rest.
As everything calms down and inner peace becomes the forefront of your hazy awareness,
Your breathing deepens even more.
Every muscle now relaxing,
Deflating into a melted spot in the position that you are laying in.
A detachment from your body may be felt as you enter into sleep.
Feel as though you are being rocked gently back and forth by your breath,
Each time going even deeper into a more relaxed state.
With the temperature of your body naturally cooling,
So too does your thinking process.
Now a slow integrated transition into sleep.
Feeling cooler,
Your chest receives each breath as an invitation to go even deeper.
Your arms now feeling heavy,
Your forearms,
Wrists and hands now resting from the lack of stimuli.
As your mind floats off into sleep,
It allows your body to rest and automatically heal.
Floating down the gentle slide to sleep,
Your subconscious can now rationalise with your inner self.
You need sleep to give your mind and body a break from all the stimulus you experience,
To allow perspective and to develop in your own personal way.
Thinking gives space between thinking.
More often than not,
We associate the things we see and hear with ourselves.
Sleep brings wellbeing to our internal selves,
Much like eating and breathing,
It is there to nourish.
Your immune system depends on your mind and body,
Hibernating each and every night.
Sleep keeps you well.
As you sleep,
Tissues,
Fibres and muscles are repaired,
Rejuvenated through the quiet time of rest.
What happens behind your closed eyelids is an internal reset,
A detoxifying of the mind and body.
Relax more now as your abdomen loosens,
Slipping further into a fully relaxed state.
From your muscles softening to the heaviness you may feel,
You are spending time well earned to look after yourself.
From the chemical reactions that help level out a feeling of wellbeing,
To thoughts that need not be there,
The sensation all becomes one.
That one sensation you now experience is rest,
A break from movement,
A sense of closure from today.
As you drift down,
Feel your mind and body float into the sanctuary of sleep.
Feel shoulders,
Neck and head freely release today by becoming loose,
Soft and settled.
With each consecutive breath being deeper,
Your hands and fingers land softly into their place for the night.
The quiet environment inside your mind and body now only encourages more of the tranquility and peace you feel.
As your mind extends out from today and into the night air,
Almost dissolving into sleep,
Your ankles,
Feet and toes become limp,
Weakened by your sleepy intent.
The cooler temperature of night time and of your cooling body soothes and slowly invites you more into a heavily sleep filled state.
The desire now to move is relinquished as you allow every part of yourself to slip further into relaxation.
As you now begin to enter the in between world of awareness and sleep,
Your mind finds comfort in the positives of having a good night's rest.
Feeling increases retention of positive experiences.
Feeling as relaxed as you do right now,
You begin to be in sync with those beneficial thoughts.
Those slipping further and deeper on each and every breath,
Your subconscious sorts your mind,
Placing all the things you have seen and heard into the correct places.
As those areas of your mind are replenished and refreshed with new neural pathways,
You begin to sleep better.
Automatically and systematically your mind is receiving great things that bring a sense of contentedness to every part of you.
Some thoughts fade off as they are no longer needed,
Replaced with new and more positive ways of thinking.
Each breath you breathe as you sleep brings calmness and peacefulness as the oxygen cleanses your lungs on each deeper breath.
As you rest,
You begin to learn about yourself and the experiences you have had today are translated allowing you to relax more and cooling the brain and body.
As you sleep,
Your subconscious will sift through,
Organising what it can take and use as a tool to improve your wellbeing.
Memories are stored,
Filtered away and placed sequentially in an order that helps you maintain perspective.
By performing all these tasks whilst you sleep,
Your subconscious makes it easier for you to concentrate when awake,
Allowing you to focus on the important things you place your energy upon.
As any stress levels are brought down,
Your sleep and internal mind gives room for more productivity from clearer thinking.
Being well,
Like perhaps you are now,
Your health improves as the pressure of staying awake is taken away from your body.
Every organ has time to rest,
Time to rejuvenate.
The quality of the rest you are getting is the softest,
The most pleasing as every part of you relaxes.
Having sufficient sleep is the best way to stay positive,
To keep away negative thinking or even overthinking.
You sleep as easy as can be in this moment.
As you get the rest you so deserve tonight,
Even your interactions and decision making will improve,
Making for better experiences and better outcomes in your waking hours.
Off the back of a quality nights rest,
Your patience with situations and people elevates to a calm observation.
This also includes patience for yourself.
After softening every muscle automatically and clearing your mind as you drift deeper,
Your skin begins to clear away any toxins,
Allowing it to shed and reveal clearer and smoother skin.
Now feel your whole body soften even more,
Perhaps taking a sigh of relief in your acceptance to finally drift off.
In the next breath,
Fill the life giving oxygen travel down your throat to deep within your lungs,
Cleansing,
Clearing,
Purifying and releasing.
And as you naturally exhale,
See in your minds eye all things negative being expelled and sense your chest deflate into a sleepier state.
As the subconscious does the housekeeping,
Whilst you relax completely,
You let go more and more.
See now in your mind,
A notebook.
You have a pen in one hand and begin to write the words,
I am falling asleep.
The paper in the notepad is lined and on each line down,
You write those words again,
I am falling asleep.
As you work your way down the page,
The words you have written above begin to slowly disappear and dissolve.
Continuing down to the last line of the page,
You watch as every single word fades out and away.
You feel a sense of relief,
A feeling of peaceful,
Observant contentedness.
Sliding your pen back to the top of the page once more,
You begin to write those words on the first line again.
Writing the words,
I am falling asleep.
On each consecutive line.
Once more,
You finish the page and the words slowly fade from sight.
Your hand now becoming heavy,
You continue to fill the page once again.
As you write those words again on each line of the page,
Your hand and arm becomes heavier and heavier.
The words fade now as fast as they are written.
As you become sleepier and sleepier,
Your hand and arm being heavier begins the process of relaxing your whole body.
As you continue to write the page again,
Each heavier hand written line becomes harder to focus upon.
Your eyes closing and your breathing deepening.
With each line of the words,
I am falling asleep.
Your eyes close heavier and the focus you have on the nib of the pen is now unclear.
Straying and drifting,
Floating and sliding into sleep.
Your awareness fades,
Your arm lays heavily resting and your eyelids remain closed.
Sleeping deeply now.
You have no desire to move your hand or arm anymore.
Your eyelids now heavy.
Give your mind and body every excuse to fall asleep in this moment.
You try to peer out towards the paper and your hand,
But your desire has now shifted towards sleep.
Every part of you relaxed as can be,
Your mind quiet.
You find yourself falling asleep.
Closing down for the night,
You remember the words of what you have heard in the last few minutes,
Now allowing your mind and body to replenish,
Rejuvenate and sleep.
Every part of you,
Down to a molecular and cellular level,
Begins to bring peace.
Now as you begin a sleep of the highest quality,
Your body begins to feel lighter,
From the freedom of relaxation that your body experiences.
There is no need to think about anything,
There is nothing to do in this moment,
Except to allow the free flowing state of sleep to relax you further.
That lighter sensation can be felt firstly in your toes,
Where a coolness begins to give each individual toe a loosened and very comfortable feeling.
The feet and the tops of your feet start to cool down now,
Easing any aches or pains.
Up to your ankles,
That cooler sensation encompasses each ankle,
Like a massage,
Feeling lighter and more relaxed.
As you continue to deepen this tranquil moment in breathing those automatic and refreshing breaths,
Feel that coolness in your calf muscles which now spread down for the night.
Eliminating thoughts altogether now,
Your mind drifts further into that sleepy state,
Feeling lighter.
The dull sensation of cooler muscles can be felt behind your knees and thighs,
Resting ever so lightly on the soft sheets below.
A sense of floating now becomes apparent as you drift and follow your own individual sleep path in your mind.
Your hips and abdomen now too feeling cooler,
Any anxieties or worries fizzle away as your lower back settles into the most comfortable position,
Floating deeper down your path to sleep.
Sensations of any kind are fading away.
Breathing deeper and longer breaths,
Your chest and rib cage relax completely from the coolness which is sent upwards.
Down deeper,
Each breath rests your body more,
Your mind and consciousness now entering sleep.
Starting to follow your path to sleep,
Your mind enters a safe dark room,
Where as you deepen your state,
Positive images will begin to show themselves.
You are relaxed,
Safe and very comfortable.
Your breathing now in sync with the rhythm of sleep,
Your shoulders lose all tension,
Sinking downwards with the coolness experienced.
All the while as your body continues to let go,
You feel lighter,
As though floating on air.
Your thoughts,
In the forms of dreams,
Will shortly begin to be seen,
With the ever decreasing awareness of the world outside your body.
Feeling quiet,
Calm and relaxed,
You hear no sound,
You see no light,
Your mind floating on its own consciousness,
Ready to receive replenishment.
As the light sensation of coolness reaches your neck,
Your head tilts lazily into the position it so chooses now for the night.
That cool effect now felt on every one of your face muscles,
Allows every muscle to relax,
Your cheeks drooping downwards,
Your lips unpursed and your jaw loosened.
As the feeling of coolness reaches your eyelids,
Your brow relinquishes all energy.
Feel quietly comfortable,
Resting,
Healing,
Replenishing and sleeping.
Every awareness now fades out as you enter the best night's sleep you will experience.
Letting go more now,
Feel your mind elevate to positivity and your body to float on the lighter sensations of peace that you now subconsciously observe.
Counting down from 5 to 1,
On reaching the number 1,
You will allow yourself to fully let go.
5.
Beginning to sense the environment of sleep within your mind.
4.
Sensations of your body begin to fade away.
3.
Every muscle relaxed as can be.
2.
Your mind and body resting now for the night.
1.
Quickly letting go,
You float on through to sleep.
As you continue to breathe more deeply through the state of sleep,
You will progress through the stages of rest in your own individual way.
Trust in the sleep that you experience and receive that sleep with a peaceful and calmer mind.
Let go now.
Allow every blissful process to deepen your state of sleep.
Breathing calmly,
You are safe,
Relaxed,
At peace and asleep.
Thank you.
