Welcome to this meditation focused on samana vayu,
The subtle energetic winds of the body that's located predominantly in the solar plexus region.
This is a subdosha of vata,
Air,
And other elements.
Vata dosha being the energy of motion,
Of movement.
And samana vayu being the motion and movement in the digestive region.
The energy that governs digestion,
Assimilation,
And balance within us.
Energy that moves towards the center.
We'll begin to deepen our connection with this energy.
And beginning with making ourselves comfortable.
Coming to land into a support beneath you.
And really allowing yourself to relax into that support.
Making any adjustments that will allow for you to be a little more comfortable.
And then settling into some stillness.
Relax the forehead.
Release the jaw.
Soften the throat.
Lighten the chest.
Relax the belly.
Relax the abdomen.
Relax all the digestive organs.
Take a deep breath in through your nose.
Feel your abdomen expand.
Retain this breath.
Now exhale through your mouth.
Releasing any tension,
Toxins,
Or worries.
Inhaling deeply again.
Retain the breath.
Exhale fully.
There is an invitation to create a hand gesture,
A mudra,
That can deepen your connection with samana vayu.
If you would like,
You can relax the hands,
The wrists,
The elbows.
Bring the tips of all four fingers,
Index,
Middle,
Ring,
Little finger.
Bring them all together and bend them over to touch the tip of the thumb.
Creating a little oval.
Relaxing the hand down,
Maybe on your thighs or beside the body,
Facing upwards.
You can do this with both hands.
Now shift the attention to the back of the head.
Now shift the attention to the back of the hands.
Now shifting your attention to abdomen,
To the solar plexus,
To this center of personal power and digestion.
How are you absorbing and assimilating everything that you're taking in?
Deepening this connection with samana vayu increases your discernment,
Fosters trust in those gut feelings,
Consolidates what you've taken in.
Breathing softness and ease into the belly.
This energy that draws towards center balances and harmonizes all your internal energies.
Inhaling,
Feeling your abdomen expanding.
Exhaling,
Imagining heaviness and discomfort,
Leaving your body and dissipating into the air.
Breathing in to create harmony,
Breathing out to alleviate discomfort.
Picture yourself in a calm,
Peaceful place.
It could be a forest,
A river,
A lake,
A garden,
A beach.
As you breathe in,
Absorb the peaceful energy of the space,
Assimilating this peaceful energy,
Allowing it to fill you with calm,
With clarity.
Now,
Either internally or aloud,
You can repeat the following.
I am balanced and centered.
Samana vayu flows through me,
Harmonizing my energy.
I trust my body's wisdom.
I am balanced and centered.
Samana vayu flows through me,
Harmonizing my energy.
I trust my body's wisdom.
Begin to bring your focus back to the breath,
Noticing the gentle rise and fall of your chest,
Of your abdomen.
Feeling the whole body relax and at ease.
You can relax the hand gesture,
Release the mudra,
Bringing some movement to your fingers,
To your toes.
Bringing your awareness back to the space around you.
Softly,
Gently,
Open your eyes.
Notice how you feel.
Softly,
Gently,
Open your eyes.
Notice how you feel.
Carry the sense of balance and inner harmony with you.
Remembering Samana vayu is always within you,
Guiding and supporting.
