Welcome to this meditation on moksha,

Inner freedom through the wisdom body.

Begin by taking this time to find stillness.

Let the body settle into a position of rest.

Let the ground hold you.

Let the joints soften.

The edges of the body soften.

The lines of the face smooth and over.

Gently bring your awareness to the breath.

Notice the inhale and the exhale.

Let the breath soften the edges of your awareness.

Allow the outer world to fade away.

Allow your senses to withdraw.

Begin the journey inward.

In yogic and ayurvedic philosophy,

We walk through life guided by four aims known as the purusharthas.

Dharma,

Living in alignment with truth and purpose.

Artha,

Gathering the material resources needed to live and serve.

Kama,

Experiencing joy,

Pleasure,

Beauty,

Relationships.

Moksha,

Liberation,

The remembering of who we truly are.

When we live with awareness,

Dharma,

Artha,

And kama become stepping stones,

Not distractions from the path to moksha.

Moksha is not a final reward.

It is not something far away.

It is a moment-by-moment return to your essential nature,

Whole,

Unconditioned.

To glimpse moksha,

We pass through the layers of self,

From the physical to the energetic,

To the mental,

Until we reach vijnanamaya kosha,

The sheath of wisdom and intellect.

This is the seat of discernment,

Of clear knowing,

Of inner guidance.

It is here that illusions of the mind begin to fall away.

Here,

We listen for the truth beneath the noise,

And gently invite into your awareness something you feel bound by,

A belief,

A habit,

A way of being that no longer serves you.

Without judgment,

Observe it like a cloud passing through the sky.

Ask yourself,

What keeps me from feeling free?

What would it feel like to release this?

Let the question rest.

The answers may come as words,

As feelings,

Or as silence.

Often,

We seek freedom through control or achievement.

But moksha is not effort.

It is release.

It is not escape.

It is a return.

Through the clarity of the vijnanamaya kosha,

We remember that freedom does not mean nothing binds us.

It means we no longer identify with the bindings.

Repeat silently or aloud,

I am not my thoughts.

I am not my thoughts.

I am not my past.

I am not my past.

I am not my roles.

I am not my roles.

I am not my pain.

I am not my pain.

I am awareness.

I am awareness.

I am spaciousness.

I am spaciousness.

I am all ready for you.

Let these words ripple through your whole being.

Imagine now the light of your awareness shining beyond all layers of your being.

Beyond body,

Beyond mind,

Beyond breath,

Beyond thought,

Pure,

Quiet,

Limitless presence.

This is moksha.

It is not somewhere you go.

It is who you are.

Stay here for a few quiet breaths.

Feel into that spaciousness.

Nothing to fix.

Nothing to solve.

Just the freedom of being.

Begin to bring the breath back into awareness.

Gently feel your body held,

Supported.

Bring some movement to the fingers,

To the toes.

To the wrists,

To the ankles.

Noticing any sounds in the space,

In the distance.

The quality of air.

Any scents or aromas.

And as you return,

Carry this inner freedom with you.
