In this meditation, we reflect on dharma—our true path and purpose—through the lens of the yamas and niyamas, the ethical foundations of yogic living. By embodying principles like ahimsa (non-harming), satya (truthfulness), and santosha (contentment), we align our actions with inner integrity and outer harmony. As we sit in stillness, we ask: "What does it mean to live in alignment with my deepest values?"

Welcome to this meditation to support the discovery of your Dharma,

Your unique path and sacred purpose in life.

Your Dharma is not something you must invent.

It already lives within you.

This practice is about making space to remember,

To reconnect and to realign.

Find a comfortable seat or maybe a resting position on your back lying down.

Taking this time to make any adjustments to allow yourself to be a little more comfortable,

A little more at ease.

You can soften the gaze or close down the eyes,

The body settling,

Allowing the breath to begin to slow and settle.

With each inhale,

Receiving steadiness and ease.

And with each exhale,

Releasing effort,

Retention.

Inhaling ease,

Exhaling effort.

Inhaling stability,

Exhaling tension.

Bring your full attention to your breath.

The breath is not just air but prana,

Your life force.

Healthy pranic flow provides the clarity and wisdom to see your purpose clearly and to follow it with strength.

Breathe in clarity,

Breathe out confusion,

Breathe in presence,

Breathe out resistance.

With every breath,

Feel the subtle energy within you beginning to move,

Cleansing,

Softening,

Guiding,

And dharma represents your right path.

How you show up in the world in alignment with truth and service.

Your dharma is multi-layered.

There's social dharma,

Your roles and responsibilities within community,

In relationship,

In society.

There is personal dharma,

Your inner truth,

Your unique gifts,

And the way your soul longs to express itself in this lifetime.

Bring your awareness to your heart center,

This space in the middle of your chest.

Visualize a gentle light in this space,

The middle of your chest.

Gentle light at heart center.

Steady,

Radiant light.

Silently ask yourself,

What is mine to do?

How am I being called to serve myself and others?

What is the next true step on my path?

Letting images,

Words,

Sensations,

Or impressions arise.

Let the wisdom of the breath carry insight from the depths of your being.

Now imagine yourself walking along a path,

Beautiful,

Clear,

Uniquely yours.

As you walk,

You pass through stages of life,

Seasons,

Roles.

You see your social responsibilities,

Your personal longings,

Your spiritual growth as companions on this journey.

You are exactly where you are meant to be.

Learning,

Evolving,

And walking toward deeper alignment.

To walk your dharma path with integrity,

You must be clear and steady within.

The yamas and the niyamas,

The ethical and personal disciplines,

Are the foundation for self-discovery.

The yamas guiding your relationship with the world,

Non-harming,

Truthfulness,

Non-stealing,

Moderation,

Non-grasping.

The niyamas guide your relationship with self,

Purity,

Contentment,

Discipline,

Self-study,

Surrender.

As each of these practices deepen,

They clear away the mental and emotional fog that cloud your purpose.

They refine your vision so dharma can reveal itself naturally and unmistakably.

Now bring to mind something in your life that feels aligned with purpose.

It could be small or grand,

Perhaps a way of serving,

Expressing,

Or being.

Hold it in your heart like a flame.

Let your breath gently stoke it,

Your prana,

Fueling your purpose.

Silently repeat,

I walk in alignment with my dharma.

I walk in alignment with my dharma.

My purpose is already unfolding.

My purpose is already unfolding.

I trust the path that rises to meet me.

I trust the path that rises to meet me.

Now begin to return to the breath.

Feel your body.

Feel the support beneath you.

Feel the calm clarity throughout your being.

Dharma is not about perfection.

It's about listening,

Honoring,

Living in truth,

With your next breath.

Bow inward to the spark of purpose that lives within you.

May you walk your path with trust,

Grace,

And deep presence.
