Welcome to this mindfulness meditation focusing on nervous system healing.
Today we will focus on bringing the body and mind to a place of safety,
Rest,
And rejuvenation.
I will be guiding you through a breathwork exercise and visualization to help you feel comforted and calm.
To begin,
Take a moment to bring some awareness to where you are right now.
How does your body feel?
How does your mind feel?
Are your feet on the floor?
Find a position where you feel supported and able to relax.
As we settle in here,
Happiness,
Sadness,
Grief,
They may seem have a place here.
As we deepen our breathing,
Allow your exhale to extend.
And exhale as though you are breathing through a straw.
Stretch your exhale and let it go.
Keep breathing and using a longer exhale.
This type of breathing allows us to tap into our parasympathetic nervous system where we relax,
Repair,
And recover.
Continuing with our breathwork practice,
As you inhale next,
Pause at the top of your inhale and sip in a little more air.
This breathing practice is called the physiological sigh.
Another method of bringing balance back to the nervous system.
Again,
Together,
In through the nose,
Through the nose,
Through the nose,
Through the nose,
Through the nose,
Through the nose.
Sip at the top.
Whatever feels most nourishing to you.
Allow yourself to fall into a pattern with this breath and have dozens of different species of plants thriving all around you.
This,
In a way,
Is your nervous system.
An internal ecosystem that is always being tended to,
Fosters your growth,
Protects you,
And nurtures you.
What types of flowers do you see here?
What types of trees?
Give yourself a moment,
As you continue breathing,
To wander around the garden your mind has created for you.
As you walk through these vast,
Lush grounds,
Run your fingers over the leaves,
Flower petals,
Bark,
And grass all around you.
The different textures of the plant life and how they all coexist in harmony.
Sink your fingers into the soil beneath your feet and let the earth hold you.
If we imagine our nervous system as this garden,
Think of how you would tend to it.
Would you come here each day to water the flowers,
Prune the trees,
Enrich the soil?
Take another moment here to bask in the sunshine around you and think of ways your internal garden might like to be tended to.
We spend a great deal of time tending to others,
To the world around us.
And while this is very important,
We sometimes forget to tend to ourselves.
May this visit to your own garden serve as a reminder that you too are deserving of love and care.
I will leave you for a few moments to sit,
Walk,
Relax in this ecosystem of yours and bask.
As we come back to this present moment,
Let us pause to reflect.
How do you feel?
How has it changed from when we began?
Take another moment here to think into how your mind,
Your body,
And your soul feel.
As we bring this meditation to a close,
I invite you
