Join me as we continue this journey of Awareness. In order to meditate, to still the mind, we first must be able to observe the mind and understand it. In come the senses. Our senses are a part of the thread of our thought patterns. Our senses help us experience the outside world, then we internalize these sensory experiences with thoughts, and those thoughts provoke emotions. Begin exploring all of these sensations with this 10 minute guided meditation.

Welcome to the Sense Awareness Meditation.

Please find a comfortable seat where you can remain for the duration of this meditation.

Take a few grounding breaths to settle into your body and release anything not serving you right now.

We will be bringing our attention to the senses.

The five senses are our spirit's link to the physical world.

We experience and then internalize this world through sight,

Sound,

Smells,

Taste,

And touch.

Let's explore the senses now.

First blink your eyes open and take a moment to scan the room.

Begin to take in everything that you see.

Notice shapes,

Colors,

Light,

Dark.

What do you see around you?

Blink your eyes back closed and now begin to listen.

Pay attention to every sound that you hear.

Are there other people around you making noise?

If you were at home is someone in the kitchen?

Expand your listening beyond the home out into the street?

What sounds do you hear outside?

Maybe dogs barking,

Horns honking,

The sounds of the city,

Or the sounds of nature?

Bring your attention now to your nose.

What do you smell in the area surrounding you?

Do you have a candle or incense or essential oils going?

Maybe there are smells coming from the house somewhere else,

A different room.

Pay attention to any smells coming in.

Now bring your attention to the top.

What do you taste?

Any sensations from anything you drank or ate before this meditation?

And finally turn your attention to your entire body.

What can you physically feel?

Are you sitting in a chair or on the ground?

Maybe you are lying down.

Fully absorb and notice everything touching your body.

What clothes are you wearing?

Are they warm or light?

Soft or stiff?

Tune in to every surface of the skin and what you can physically feel.

We experience the world through these five senses.

Then we internalize the experiences.

Then we process how we feel about these experiences with our emotions.

Now take a few minutes to simply sit in your senses,

Noticing the sensations.

You might feel emotions popping up based on what you experience.

Allow all of this to flow just sitting in observance and in presence of your senses.

You take a deep breath to bring yourself back.

Take a moment to sit with anything that came up during this observance of our emotions attached to our senses.

Now bring more awareness to your senses as you move through your day,

Not just letting them blindly guide you through the physical plane,

But pausing to appreciate the emotional awareness that your senses can bring to you.

Thank you for meditating with me.
