Sometimes there feels so much pressure when we say the word sleep.
So let's change it.
Instead of going to sleep,
You're going to let go.
And what if we said,
Let go and drift.
Drift into a place you need to be for you right now.
And that place doesn't have to follow any rules.
How you let go doesn't have to follow any rules either.
It doesn't have to be the same way other people let go.
It doesn't even have to be silent or still.
Remember when you listen to yourself,
You hear what you need.
But often we listen to other people and to their rules and expectations.
But they aren't for you.
So you can stop listening to them if they don't feel right.
What do you need to let go of?
I'm going to help guide you to simply let go of the day.
Let go of the week.
Just let go.
As I guide you on a scenic journey to the depths of where you choose to go.
And you can either listen to my words or you can simply allow my words to wash over you.
Like raindrops would slide off a leaf.
And you can choose to close your eyes and take a deep breath now.
And you can allow yourself to do that when you feel ready.
You'll know when it's time.
So if you want to,
Let go.
And it's one of those days where you're all tucked up.
The rain is gently falling,
Watering nature around you.
And find yourself laying under a cabin porch,
Enclosed at both sides but open at the front.
There,
There is the biggest,
Coziest huge chair that you've ever seen.
And you can either sit up in it or it can recline back as far as you like.
There you can pull over your most perfect cover for you.
Perhaps it's a thin,
Cool blanket or a big,
Billowing duvet.
There is a chill in the air.
But your body temperature is perfection for you right now as you simply rest and listen to the rainfall.
Around you is lush green foliage surrounding the canopy you're under.
Every now and then you can feel a breeze gently brush over your face.
Notice your cozy cover as it hugs you tight or loose,
Light or heavy.
Keeping you perfectly at your ideal temperature.
Every breath you take offers you a deeper connection to your inner requirements.
Nothing more needed,
Other than you.
Come as you are.
However you are right now is enough.
You're always enough.
Just allow your whole body to relax if you can,
But also only if you're ready.
And I wonder as you let go and rest if you can just imagine the most wonderful relaxation coming over you.
From the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
Maybe you can imagine it as a light.
Or a sensation.
A lightness or a heaviness.
What's right for you?
How would you like to feel?
And imagine that feeling of rest and recuperation.
Sometimes we hold our body in a way that we don't even realize we're holding it.
I really want to invite you to physically allow that to drop.
Let go.
Allow your muscles to let go.
Allow that part of your body to smooth out.
It's okay to let go.
You can have permission to do that from yourself.
And as your scalp and forehead relax.
I wonder if you can relax your eyes and your eyelids.
And physically allow again them to let go.
To smooth out.
And then moving down to your cheeks and ears.
Let go.
Allow them to also smooth out.
Relax and rest.
And then your mouth and chin.
Allow it to drop.
You can either rest your tongue on the bottom of your mouth or you can gently press your tongue onto the roof of your mouth.
Just behind your teeth,
Whatever feels right for you.
Smooth your cheeks out,
Your jaw,
Let it go.
And then moving down to your neck,
Let go.
And then your shoulders,
Such a place to harbour tension,
Allow them to drop down.
Physically recognise the tension you might be holding onto.
And for now,
No,
You don't need to hold onto it right now.
Let go.
And then allow the tops of your arms to drop down.
Rest the bottom of your arms,
Your elbows,
Your wrists.
Let those muscles loosen.
Relax the tips of your fingers,
The palms of your hands.
Feel how heavy or light your arms feel,
Whichever feels best for you.
And your chest relaxing.
Those comfortable heartbeats,
Perfectly beating for you,
Just for you.
Relaxing your stomach,
Another place where we hold tension,
Physically allow those stomach muscles to loosen.
To let go.
To flatten out.
And then moving down to your hips and waist.
Let go.
Allow them to loosen and relax and rest.
Relax your muscles in your bottom,
Around your groin,
Around the sides of your buttocks.
Let the tension go.
Let it smooth out.
And then your thighs.
Let the muscles in your thighs let go and loosen,
Feeling loose and comfortable.
Then your knees.
Let your legs feel light or heavy.
And that relaxation moves down into your calves and shins.
Let those muscles spread out,
Loosen.
Down to your ankles,
Maybe you want to circulate your ankles and then let them go.
The tops of your beautiful feet,
Your heels,
Your toes and the soles of your feet.
The area which connects you to the ground.
Relax.
Let go.
Let go if you're ready and let go if you want to.
Let go of the pressures of life.
The pressure of too many demands.
When all you want to feel is free.
And you want to stop.
And put those heavy bags down.
And take away the baggage.
The stress,
The pressure of modern life which can feel too much,
Too overwhelming.
And sometimes we don't feel good enough.
Strong enough,
Brave enough.
Enough in general.
When the expectations of our life take us on a journey far,
Far away from our inner realities.
And then we are left there stranded.
Unable to get back home to our internal self.
But sometimes if we just stop and rest and get back there we can find ourselves again amongst the jungle of life to reconfigure,
To reexamine what we need for us.
For ourselves.
So that you can stay safe and well.
And sometimes the way we do that is by letting go.
Letting go of the pressure.
Letting go of the day.
And resting.
Be what it will that rests.
But your form of rest.
You know,
The one that's right for you.
And sometimes as we want to rest our mind is whirling round and round.
And as you rest and let go I wonder if you can see.
Next to you is a box with a lid and a key.
And in any way you want,
Lift that lid up and put your worries in there.
Don't worry they'll still be there whenever you want them next.
If you want them next.
Blow them in.
Imagine they're pieces of paper you put in.
Any way you want,
Any way you choose is the right way.
There are no rules here.
And when they're in there,
Close the lid and lock the box.
And clear your mind if you can.
If you can't,
No pressure.
And as you rest and stay warm and cosy,
Can you imagine being in the most beautiful place in nature that you've ever been to?
The most magical place,
It's almost not real.
Untouched earth.
As you walk barefoot,
There you are just being you.
Just you being you.
Reconnecting with the first place on earth.
Being grounded and present,
You're there.
Just see around you.
Perhaps the sun is shining.
Perhaps the rain is falling.
Are there snowflakes in the air?
Is the ground frosty and crunchy?
Are there orange and yellow autumn leaves?
Are there drops of dew on the end of each blade of grass?
What do you love for you?
Is the air filled with the scent of fresh spring flowers like daffodils and tulips?
Or is there a gentle smell of a distant log burning stove emanating from a chimney on a tiny log cabin?
Lose yourself in the magic of your imagination.
If you can't think of anything,
That's okay.
Invite the stillness.
Listen to the words or drift away.
It's your choice.
Just wander where you will.
Let go of the day.
Let go of the week.
For a time to let go is like giving permission to the ocean not to be watched.
For the roses not to be judged for blooming later than others.
A time for gentle,
Caring kindness.
Like at night when the stars remind you that they're there.
And just because you can't see them in the day,
It doesn't mean they're not present.
It's just not their time to be seen.
Letting go is a way of not being needed for now.
A time for switching off.
For temporarily shutting down.
A time of no judgement,
Of no rushing.
A time of nothing.
I wonder where you are.
Where you have chosen to be.
Wherever you are.
Be there.
Be present in the dream.
Allow your rest to wash away broken feelings.
Tired tears,
Heavy hearts.
Drift away.
Let go.
Let go into where you need to be.
Be your rest.
Allow self care and self kindness to wash over you like those beautiful gentle breezes.
Allow your body to let go and flow like a beautiful stream.
Flowing and flowing where it will.
Letting go of the day.
Letting go of the night.
Letting go of the world.
Just being you.
Calm.
Gentle.
Resting.
You are precious.
You are deserving of this rest.
You are worthy.
Let go.
Drift where you will.
