Hello and welcome and today's word is movement.
Have you ever felt stuck physically,
Mentally or emotionally?
Movement is the antidote to all stagnation.
Now when we talk about movement we tend to think immediately about the physical body and the physical body is of course extremely important for our general health but it's also important to move our physical body if we want to move emotions.
So very often when we get to a point in our life where we're feeling stuck emotionally or mentally,
By moving our body we can change our state and we can totally change the way that we feel.
And when we understand that emotions are stored around the body,
Every cell is holding information.
The fascia is storing emotions from our past,
Memories from our past.
When I feel stuck and I'm not sure on a way forward,
The best thing I can do is really twist and turn or dance or walk or allow my body to move in the way that I need it to.
And perhaps just by asking myself how do I move through this feeling of stuckness,
My body will surely answer in whatever way it needs to move for to feel less stuck and to move forward in a fluid way mentally,
Emotionally and physically.
So where in your life might you be stagnant right now?
It may be that you feel your body is stiffer than it should be or could be.
It may be that your mind is going round in circles.
That's not a place of flow,
That's a place of stagnation.
Or it may be that you feel emotionally stuck in a certain emotion of frustration or sadness or disappointment or wanting to surge forward but not knowing how.
Bruce Lee,
Who was more than a martial artist,
He was of course a great movie star,
He preached the philosophy of movement both physically and mentally.
His belief that we must be like water teaches us to adapt,
Flow and never remain rigid.
And of course there are similar stories,
For example,
Not to be the oak tree but to be the bamboo because it's the bamboo that will survive in very,
Very heavy winds more than an oak.
David Goggins,
Once overweight and stuck in a dead-end job,
He transformed himself into an ultra endurance athlete and navy seal through sheer willpower.
His story proves that movement,
No matter how small,
Leads to radical change.
But he also underlines the importance,
Of course,
That without mental agility it would be difficult to create physical agility.
Many studies have been done on the importance of movement and they show often that just 10 minutes of movement a day can improve our mental clarity,
Our mood and our longevity.
10 minutes.
10 minutes of moving,
Flexing,
Stretching,
Dancing.
It's not long,
Is it?
Movement also increases neuroplasticity.
Your brain literally rewires itself for growth and adaptability.
Imagine that.
And the longest walkable distance on earth spans from South Africa to Russia,
Over 13,
000 miles.
So if you are feeling very,
Very keen to get moving and go for a walk,
That could be the most challenging walk of all.
So three action steps for today to really bring movement into your life.
Think about starting for a morning routine to move your body daily.
Dance,
Stretch,
Walk.
Any movement is progress.
A body in motion stays in motion and when we move in life,
Life moves through us.
Number two,
Make one small decision today.
Take action on something you've been procrastinating on.
Send the email,
Make the call,
Take the first step,
Pick up the phone,
Whatever it is.
Get movement,
Especially if you have a situation with a friend or a loved one where stagnation has set in.
Be the bigger person.
Just get things moving.
You can have the heavier conversation once flow is back in play.
And number three,
I encourage you to change your environment if you're feeling stuck.
Shift your physical space.
Equally,
If you're in a place,
In an office for example,
Or in a home relationship where you're feeling stuck,
You can also escape by going into meditation and you can go off to your happy place,
Your dream place,
Your safe place,
Your place of adventure.
Everything happens inside our heads,
So let's take advantage of that for the better.
You may also want to rearrange a room in your home or just go outside or go for a walk.
And today we're ending on a quote by Martin Luther King Jr.
You don't have to see the whole staircase,
Just take the first step.
