Hello and welcome and today's word is self-discipline.

Now,

Have you ever set a goal and felt highly motivated in the beginning?

Your goal was living your best life.

You got everything down on paper,

All those great words and those vision boards and the excitement grew and then suddenly something distracted you and before you knew it,

The project was left on the side and you came back to it hours,

Days,

Weeks,

Months later.

If you were lucky,

In many cases we start a project,

We get distracted and we totally forget to complete it at all and here we see the power of self-discipline.

Self-discipline is linked to taking action and it is the most important part for living your best life.

Three parts are important.

One is getting clear on who you are today and why you are who you are.

Number two is all about rewriting some of the beliefs so that they're aligned with you and you get clear on what your ideal future looks like,

Feels like,

Sounds like,

What your behaviors would be like.

You get really clear on all of those things and then number three is taking action and getting self-disciplined in order to do that.

Without number three,

Nothing will come into fruition and if it does,

It will be a lucky moment.

It won't be due to your work or your intention so we need to really get there.

The intention part of manifesting is the first part but action really is a big part of bringing everything together.

Self-discipline is really what divides the world between those who achieve and those who don't really achieve very much.

If you want to live your best life,

We need to get into some really healthy habits and self-discipline is going to be a massive help to you in the future.

Studies show that self-discipline is a stronger predictor of academic success than intelligence and equally,

I would absolutely verify from my coaching practice room,

I would say that self-discipline is one of the absolute strongest predictors of a person achieving the best life that they want to live because we have things to learn.

We have things to unlearn.

If we're not yet living our best life,

We've got to unlearn things and that's going to take discipline and sometimes a little bit of discomfort.

Discipline helps us move through discomfort.

So another statistic that I find quite an interesting one is around people with high levels of self-discipline tending to have better mental health in general because they experience less stress and less regret.

So people with a lack of self-discipline but people who also have dreams often spend their times regretting the fact that I want to have my own business and I wish I could travel the world and yet they don't have the discipline to actually do it and they then spend time ruminating over the loss of the dreams that they didn't achieve and it was self-discipline that was the issue.

So number one action step for getting a bit more discipline into your life,

Set small achievable goals and commit to following them through daily.

Now this comes down very much to that morning routine,

Having three points I want to do in a day or maybe even five,

Making sure that they're actually doable and that they get done and when it comes to a list,

So I often have 10 things on my list but I really love that feeling of ticking things off,

I make sure that five of them are very easy quick wins so that when I get bored or irritated I can quickly go to one of those things and get them quickly done and I still get that sense of achievement and discipline.

Number two,

Removing temptations.

Self-discipline is much easier when we're not distracted,

You're sitting in a lovely cabin in the forest with your notebook and a cup of tea and a pen,

It's much easier to be self-disciplined than when we have shopping malls luring us in and we have friends who want to go for coffee and we have perhaps children and pets and tv and phones and partners and whatnot.

So remove temptations wherever you can at least for certain chunks of the day.

Again,

We don't need to be self-disciplined every moment but build it into your life.

Develop that morning routine is my third advice to you and it can be fun and beautiful,

It can be based in your head or in your body or a bit of everything and I don't think a morning routine has to really last more than 10 minutes.

I can do three minutes of exercise,

Three minutes of deep presence meditation and then I can spend three or four minutes writing down my plans for the day and I'm already done and if I do longer of that,

Fantastic,

But if I don't,

It's a great place to start.

We're going to end on a quote today by Abraham Lincoln,

Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.

Choosing what we want now vs what we want most… Great to keep in mind! I saw 2 donuts in the thumbnail instead of an apple in one hand a donut in the other until just now! Lol! I love how many tips you packed in such a short audio clip!
