When we're struggling because we feel at odds with ourselves in some way,
One of the best things we can do is get in touch with the compassionate mentor,
The one that's always there for you,
The one that's always here for you in this moment.
So let's take some moments now to get in touch with this ever-present,
Unconditionally loving presence,
Beginning by taking three of the longest and deepest inhalations and exhalations you've taken yet today.
And then visualize for a moment,
Just briefly,
A time in your life in which you were struggling.
Could have been today.
Might have been a long time ago.
What's important is that it's something that feels easily accessible without being too intense.
So not choosing one of the most severe experiences of struggle that you've ever gone through,
But perhaps just a time that you felt cut off or overwhelmed,
Depressed,
Shut down,
Isolated in some way.
Maybe cut off from yourself and others.
As a way of accessing the compassionate mentor,
Go ahead and imagine that this part of you having this experience was quite young.
Really see them there,
Going through whatever they're going through.
What do you notice about their experience?
And now,
Instead of hovering over this experience,
Watching it from afar in a sense,
I'm going to invite you to move into this experience.
And I want to ask you one simple question.
From here,
What do you need?
Visualize and feel now the presence of a being who has loved you your entire life.
This may be someone you know,
May be an archetype,
It may be a ball of light.
There's no right answer.
Let the imagination be free.
This presence,
This being sees you,
Knows you,
Accepts you,
Loves you.
Allow yourself to be infused like a sponge,
Absorbing the presence of this unconditional love.
Even if you are visualizing an actual person from your life.
Note that this is all happening within you.
This unconditionally loving presence is not separate from you.
No matter what costume,
What outfit this mentor is wearing.
Check back in with this question,
What do I need?
Perhaps it's to know that I'm loved unconditionally.
Perhaps it's to know that I'm held and supported no matter what.
Perhaps it's to know and to feel that I'm not alone.
That alone is a figment of the imagination.
That this unconditionally loving presence is always available.
Again,
Drink it through the pores of your skin,
Through the membranes of the lungs.
Allow the presence of love to infuse your entire being.
Feel the way in which there's nothing outside this.
For this mentor,
This ally that loves you,
Sees you,
Knows you,
Everything is embraced.
Freed from the world of likes and dislikes,
Approval,
Disapproval,
Right and wrong.
This mentor simply loves.
Allow yourself now to rest in this love,
As this love,
For as long as you like,
In silence.
Continuing to invite and allow love to infuse all aspects of your being.
Resting in love,
As love.
