Breath & Affirmation Practice
This meditation is for centering, achieving a sense of purpose, and creating abundance in your life.
Transcript
I wanted to start off by saying that anyone can reach inner peace through meditation.
We all need to take time away from the intellect in order to tap into that deep knowingness that will guide us to the life we want.
Meditation is the key to help us tap into that knowingness.
So that being said,
Take a moment to make sure you won't be disturbed while practicing this meditation.
Put your phone on airplane,
Shut your door,
Whatever you need to have a few moments of quiet.
You want to be comfortable,
And it's perfectly fine to sit in a chair,
Cross-legged,
Or on a pillow.
The main idea is just to be comfortable,
And your spine should be erect.
Your mind's going to wander.
In fact,
You might get distracted during this meditation,
And welcome to the club,
Because everyone's experienced the mind being distracted.
And just remember to bring your awareness back to the meditation.
So let's get started.
So close your eyes,
And your breath is key to helping your body and mind relax.
So just in your own way,
Begin to smoothly increase your inhales and your exhales.
And as you breathe through your nostrils,
Slowly just sense your breath,
Not just moving through the nostrils,
But moving everywhere in the body.
And sense your breath moving towards your hands and your feet,
As though your body was an empty vessel.
As you exhale,
Feel as though the vessel's just being emptied.
And if you get distracted,
Just bring your attention back to the breath.
Without straining,
You're doing your best to move toward a complete inhale and a complete exhale.
And as your breath becomes more smooth,
Your mind becomes more quiet.
So continue this for about another minute,
And have the sense that you're sending the signal to the mind and to the body to just relax.
So let's get started.
And just let your breath begin to flow on its own without you shaping it.
Just watch your breath rise and fall through your nostrils.
And see the breath rising and falling,
Two separate streams,
Ascending and descending through the left and the right.
And sense the apex of that movement is the point right between your eyebrows.
So more or less,
The stream of the breath is forming an upside down V,
Two lines of breath intersecting between the eyebrows.
And just for another moment or so,
Watch that breath move and remain effortless.
Just feel that very gentle sensation,
The sense of the two lines of breath meeting between the eyebrows.
And just let your breath begin to flow on its own without you shaping it.
And just watch your breath rise and fall through your nostrils.
So you might begin to feel a sensation or an awareness between your eyebrows that's growing,
Expanding.
In addition to being mindful of your breath,
There's kind of a presence or even a light between your eyebrows that's starting to grow.
And without trying to visualize anything,
Just feel that your forehead is transparent or translucent.
Just sense that lighter energy starting to flood from the forehead through to the brain.
And then soaking in a bath of light and presence.
And just for a few minutes,
Just sit quietly,
Feeling this light and presence and energy moving through your forehead and enveloping the brain.
Just feel your brain soaking in a bath of light and presence.
And as you're resting in this presence and this energy and light,
Think of something that's important to you.
Something you'd like to accomplish that would serve not just you but the larger good.
Something you want to become or some aspect of life you'd like to include that you've been ignoring or some aspect you would like to step away from that you deem unconstructive.
And just in your own way,
Identify what that might be.
And once you've kind of got that in your mind,
I'll ask you to either see it in that light or presence in the brain or maybe say the words like you were stating an affirmation of what you want to accomplish.
So just affirm it three times with absolute certainty that it will be fulfilled.
And then we'll just take a moment to pause and feel it as completely viable and completely certain.
And just give thanks as you end this practice with thankfulness that it's already happened.
Just rest in that knowledge and that confidence.
And we'll slowly lower your chin and we'll create a bit of heat in your hands.
Rub your palms together briskly and as you create some warmth,
Put them over your eyes,
Letting that warmth and energy you've created seep into your face.
And when you're ready,
Slowly reopen your eyes and allow your attention to come back to your surroundings.
Thank you.
