Grounding into the heavy, stable, and solid qualities of the earth element prithvī helps to balance a busy mind, scattered awareness, stress, and anxiety, and connects you with your foundation - your sense of safety, security, and resilience. This practice invites you to connect with the earth qualities within your body, mind, and environment to feel more centered and stable. Music by Lachm on Pixabay.

Begin by finding a comfortable supportive position for your practice.

If it's available to you,

You might sit outdoors connecting directly with the earth beneath you.

Or you might sit on the floor or in a chair with your sits bones grounded firmly into the surface beneath you.

You might also prefer to lie down for this practice,

Bringing the entire body low to the ground.

Letting your awareness scan through the body,

Making any adjustments that allow for greater support and comfort.

Letting the spine be long,

The body supported with ease by the surface beneath you.

You might soften the gaze or if you prefer you might close your eyes.

Finding stillness,

Finding awareness of your body,

Resting,

Supported by the earth and held by gravity.

Sensing into the earth beneath you,

The soil,

The bedrock,

Its solidity and density.

Its heaviness.

Drawing your awareness to the earth element,

Prithvi in your physical body,

The bones,

Cartilage and muscle that support and hold you.

The teeth that allow you to be nourished.

The skin and hair that protect your organs.

Becoming aware of the earth element present in your subtle body,

Your sense of self or ego.

The sense of groundedness,

Safety,

Security,

Strength.

And begin to direct your awareness with your breath.

Inhaling earth energy up from the bedrock through the base of the spine and pelvic floor to the top of your head.

Then exhaling,

Sending breath back down into the earth,

Rooting deeply into your environment.

Inhaling drawing earth energy upward to the head.

Exhaling rooting into your seat in the world.

Exhaling sensing the earth's energy offering security and stability.

Exhaling feeling at home within yourself.

Give up TheHere,

Fluffy little tint rallied through your nickname.

Gently allowing your awareness to come to rest on your natural breath.

Letting the rise of the inhale and pause at the top,

Fall of the exhale and the pause at the bottom.

Breathing in and breathing out.

And gradually begin to extend the length of each exhale,

Allowing your awareness to come to rest.

Breathing in and breathing out.

And as you're ready,

Allowing the breath to return to its natural rhythm.

And perhaps bringing one hand to your heart center and offering yourself any words of nurturing and support that your heart is calling for.

I am loved.

I am confident.

I am secure.

I am strong.

I am resilient.

I am strong.

Gently drawing your awareness back to the physical body resting on the earth.

Gradually deepening the breath.

If your eyes were closed,

Blinking them open to take in the space around you.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe.

May you be peaceful.

Thank you for sharing your practice with me.
