We are joyful beings.

We can thrive and live in a peaceful and happy existence.

Along our journeys we establish walls that block our joy from shining.

Let's work on disintegrating your walls and freeing the constant flow of joy into your being today.

Close your eyes and find a comfortable seated or lying down position.

Invoke softness to flow over the front side of your body for a deep breath in and out.

Invite softness to flow over the back side of your body as you inhale and exhale.

Summon softness to flow in the center channel of your body touching your organs,

Your brain and your heart.

Call softness in on your inhale and surrender tension on your exhale for three deep breaths.

Accessing joy is blocked by our limiting beliefs about joy.

Our first limiting belief we will contemplate is I feel joy when I deserve a reward for my actions and accomplishments.

We are constantly in a cycle of soul growth and expansion,

Trying to be the best version of ourselves,

Setting new goals and desiring more things,

More abundance,

Better health,

Empowerment,

Creativity,

Success.

These desires are not bad.

They provide a wealth of rich experiences in our lifetimes.

We run into trouble when we link our productivity with happiness.

I will be happier when I have more money.

I'm confident I'm healthier.

I am filled in the blank.

This tells our minds that happiness is achievable and something we strive for through our actions.

The issue is we are always striving for more,

To be more,

To dream,

To set goals,

Leaving us in a constant state of growth,

Receiving bursts of momentary joy when we hit our goals,

But then dwindling down to a state of not being deserving.

Do you see how this is a reward system,

But actually a punishment system,

Punishing us when we are not better versions of ourselves and more productive?

We can fear that if we do not have the reward of happiness after we complete our goals,

That we will have no motivation to go out after our desires.

This simply isn't true.

Our joy will be heightened upon completing our goals and serve us with loving gratitude for our actions.

There's no need to struggle between our goals being accomplished.

We can experience joy the whole way through.

What if we rewrote the limiting belief of,

I feel joy when I deserve a reward for my actions and accomplishments?

Two,

I feel joy unconditionally.

Joy is a state of being and accessible now.

Let's reflect on the ways you've been limiting your joy through beliefs of needing to work for it before receiving it and attempt to soften these beliefs.

How would you feel if you didn't have this restriction on accessing joy?

Spend some time tuning in to the reality of unconditional joy.

Wonderful work contemplating and feeling into unconditional joy.

Our next limiting belief we will contemplate is,

I am not worthy of feeling joy.

This belief degrades us and separates us from society.

It says that some people are worthy of feeling joy and you are not.

We are all worthy of feeling joy.

Joy is accessible to everyone.

Suffering is also within our existence and it becomes easy to focus and dwell on suffering.

Even feed the belief that we are meant to suffer.

What we choose to believe we create for our own reality.

We are loving beings who feel good when we are in our joy and when we feel good we are raising the light on the planet.

Others feel our happiness and it raises a smile within them.

It is our human right to feel joy.

It is our natural and intended state of being.

What if we rewrote the limiting belief of,

I am not worthy of feeling joy.

2.

I am worthy of feeling joy.

Let's reflect on the ways you have been limiting your joy through beliefs of unworthiness and not being good enough to live in a constant state of joy and attempt to soften these beliefs.

How would you feel if you did not have this restriction on accessing joy?

Spend some time tuning in to the reality of unconditional joy.

3.

I am worthy of feeling joy.

I am worthy of feeling joy.

I am worthy of feeling joy.

I am worthy of feeling joy.

Beautiful work.

Our last limiting belief we will contemplate is,

I am not a joyful person.

We can believe we were born to live as an unhappy person,

That it's just who we are.

We can feel wounded by our traumas and heavy experiences,

Feel deep sadness and anger and identify with these emotions.

We can say,

How can I be happy when there is so much suffering in my life?

The mind is powerful.

Our beliefs we choose rewire the neural connections in our brain to release hormones,

To react and to feel based on repetitive thinking.

We think thoughts of,

I'm suffering,

I'm not a happy person.

Over and over our body responds to it as our truth.

We feel depression,

Shame and fatigue,

Anxiety.

We switch to positive thoughts of,

I am joyful,

I am a happy person.

It becomes our truth.

Joy springs up within naturally and begins to flow.

It is possible for everyone to connect with this stream of joy if we can let go of the old beliefs that are in the way.

We will always be healing our past wounds and traumas.

That is needed valuable soul work.

But when we identify with our healing journey by saying we are our wounds,

Then that blocks joy from being felt.

We can heal and still have lots of self work to do,

But still feel joy through that process.

It is not a choice between joy or struggle.

Joy can be present when struggle is also present.

It does not need to disappear.

It is always accessible.

What if you rewrote,

I am not a joyful person.

Two,

I am a joyful person.

Contemplate what that would feel like if you released all thoughts and beliefs around joy,

Not being who you are and surrender to joy being a part of your truest self.

Spend some time tuning into the reality of unconditional joy.

Wonderful work.

Now that we have softened some limiting beliefs shielding your joy,

Let's connect directly to joy.

Joy is not attached to anything.

It is not attached to an experience,

A deservingness.

It is not conditional,

Meaning there doesn't have to be something you need to be happy about,

To feel happy.

We can focus on gratitude and attach your joy to positive experiences,

But that still feeds the belief that joy is conditional.

We allow it to be unconditional.

It means it can be accessed at any time.

There is no precursor to feeling your joy.

Let's feel it now.

Let the joy begin as a sensation in your lower abdomen.

See if you can feel a small or slight sensation here.

Be playful and curious with this exercise.

What does joy feel like in your lower abdomen?

It is safe to let joy rise up in your being.

Let it rise up to your heart as your body opens and softens.

Rising up to raise the corners of your mouth ever so slightly.

Rising up to your mind.

Out through your pores.

You are powerful.

You are the creator of your life.

Breathe into the sensation of joy in your body.

Absorb these affirmations into your body.

I feel joy unconditionally.

Joy is a state of being and accessible now.

I am worthy of feeling joy.

I am a joyful person.

I feel joy unconditionally.

Joy is a state of being and accessible now.

I am worthy of feeling joy.

I am a joyful person.

I feel joy unconditionally.

Joy is a state of being and accessible now.

I am worthy of feeling joy.

I am a joyful person.

Absorb these truths into your body now.

Truly wonderful work today.

If you found difficulty in connecting with joy,

Do not be discouraged.

It takes time and patience to unblock the negative beliefs compressing your joy.

Trust that there is joy within you and in time it will rise into your being.

You are a joyful being.

Thank you for doing this work.

I send you so much love,

Peace and joy on your journey.

Namaste.

This was profound. I hadnโ€™t thought of conditional joy as being a type of punishment. That you could only be joyful if you achieved a certain goal - and joy is withheld it if you donโ€™t. Beautiful!

It has struck me on numerous occasions how little we investigate and actively seek to understand joy. Even on Insight Timer there are relatively few meditations on the topic. Thank you for such a thoughtful message on it! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
