This meditation is to be used as a support for your journey of releasing your attachment to smoking.
Why do you smoke and crave cigarettes?
Is it to release stress by giving you a break and a distraction from life?
Is it to offer you a treat or a gift?
Does it allow you that sensation of joy?
Is it to give you a moment of peace,
A break from your day?
What is the outcome of smoking for you?
Is it peace,
Joy,
A break,
Or time to de-stress?
Whatever it is,
This is what we are going to work on creating through a positive habitual pattern within you,
A positive connection that is healthy for your body and mind,
As you are deserving of feeling peace,
Joy,
Lighter,
Healthy,
Not stressed,
And having a break in a nourishing way.
This meditation is that break for you to access these feelings that smoking gives you,
But instead of receiving it from an external force,
We are receiving it internally.
Within you,
These emotions and mental calmness already exist,
And through meditation we can access this space.
Let us begin building this bridge to your desired emotions through connecting to what is within you without an external assist of a cigarette.
Sit,
Lay,
Or stand in a comfortable position with your spine extended.
Begin to soften and slow your breath,
Not forcing deep breathing,
But allowing a natural ease and movement of your breath.
Release any tension you may be holding,
Any tension in the physical body,
In the neck,
The shoulders,
The head or face,
Releasing any tension in the spine,
The lower back,
The pelvis,
The arms,
The hands,
Releasing tension of the legs,
The knees,
The feet,
Just letting it go down into the earth.
Feel an openness in your chest,
A softness in your eyes.
Feel comfort flow through your whole body.
Be aware of your thoughts.
If a thought,
Good or bad,
Enters your mind,
Simply be aware of that thought and allow it to melt away like a snowflake melting in your palm.
Releasing all thoughts of the past,
Letting go of worries for your future,
Your future in five minutes from now,
Five days from now,
Five years from now,
Simply letting go.
And let your mind focus on the one thing within its control,
This moment.
In this moment,
Allow your mind to focus on the inward and outward flow of your breath.
As you breathe in,
You may think,
I am aware that I am breathing in or simply the word in.
And as you breathe out,
You may think,
I am aware that I am breathing out or simply out.
I'll let you take some deep breaths with the awareness of the inward and outward flow of your breath.
Each breath is a reminder that you are alive and well in this moment,
Bringing you a sensation of joy through gratitude for your life.
Breathing in,
Feeling gratitude for the gift of life.
Each breath out is a reminder that your mind is focused on this moment,
Bringing you a sensation of peace.
Breathing out and finding peace by being present in this moment.
Breathing in joy,
Breathing out peace.
I'll let you take some deep breaths with that awareness of joy and peace.
Allow yourself to really feel those words,
Not just to imagine them,
But feel them from within your body.
In times of stress or needing comfort,
Simply focus all of your attention onto your breath.
You are never alone as your breath is always with you,
This gift of finding presence,
Peace and joy is always here and your breath is the key to accessing those emotions and that mind state.
You hold the key.
I'd like for you to come back to this practice as often as you can throughout the day,
Either guided by me or on your own.
Your breath is always available to you.
It is always reminding you to have gratitude for this moment and to be in this moment.
Life is in this moment.
To know that everything is okay,
Right here and now,
If you simply bring your awareness to your breath that lives in the here and now.
If you feel a strong craving,
Place one hand on your heart and one on your abdomen as you do this breathing practice.
This will allow you to connect and focus more deeply.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this practice,
To nourish your needs.
Namaste.
