This meditation is published with and without music to support your sensitivity preferences, this track has no music or background sounds. This practice is for people who experience sound sensitivity (misophonia), or visual stimulus sensitivity (misokinesia), or both. I have found it to be the most potent practice to retrain the brain and its connection with sensitivities. In this practice you will connect with your deeper self, the one having these experiences of being triggered. We will then introduce you to a trigger (through your imagination), and apply the technique of connecting to your true self (a space of calm neutrality) while being triggered. You can then apply this technique in everyday life while being triggered, giving you a feeling of greater empowerment and a more positive perspective. If at any time in this practice, you are becoming too uncomfortable, stop the practice and tend to yourself.

Welcome to this practice for misophonia and mesokinesia.

This practice will give you techniques to help dampen your triggers to sounds and sights,

Lessening your sensitivity over time while being patient with this practice.

If at any time you're becoming uncomfortable or this is too difficult,

Simply stop the practice and tend to yourself.

Take care of yourself.

Be gentle,

Kind,

And compassionate with yourself.

We will practice becoming aware of two things at once.

When being triggered by misophonia,

It feels like the trigger sound is the only thing happening in your world.

Or with mesokinesia,

The visuals you are seeing become the center of your focus and it can feel impossible to shake.

You can become aware of something else at the same time.

Depending on your level of nervous system arousal,

What you can manage,

And the general stress level you have in your life,

It will become easier or harder to focus on more than one thing at the same time.

Be patient with yourself and know that there will be different times of the day,

Week,

And month that this is easier or harder for you.

In our practice,

You will be becoming aware of your true self.

Your true self is different than your experiences,

Meaning it is different than the experience that you were having when you were being triggered.

Your true self is not your thoughts,

Emotions,

Or body and physical sensations.

It is the one that witnesses these.

Your true self is the observer,

Observing without words or judgment,

Unlike the mind and our thoughts.

Your true self is the one who observes even your thoughts.

Notice how the expression is,

My thoughts,

On this subject are my,

Meaning someone else is here witnessing the thoughts.

We don't say that we are our thoughts,

We say my thoughts.

There's ownership there.

This true self is the owner,

The one who has them.

This true self is something you can imagine or connect with intuitively through a sense of inner knowing.

We will be connecting to your true self while you are imagining being triggered to help build a new tool that you can use while you're being triggered that will lessen your discomfort and give you a greater perspective of true reality.

The reality that you are not the trigger,

The discomfort,

Or nervous system arousal.

You are not the thoughts about this.

You are not the thoughts that you have.

You are the calm center without any judgment or thoughts that is here observing your human self and human experience.

Now before we introduce or imagine a trigger,

I want us first to connect to our inner core,

Our deep and true self.

This is something you can intuitively connect to as it is real and it does exist.

However,

If you're unable to feel or sense it intuitively,

We will just imagine it as your imagination works just as well as feeling or sensing it intuitively.

My favorite way of connecting to this is disconnecting from our thoughts,

Body,

And emotions.

A good way to do this is to ask yourself,

Who am I?

If a thought arises,

Cut it off and say,

No,

I am not my thoughts.

If you feel sensations in your body or hear sounds,

Simply say,

No,

I am not that.

And keep getting a sense of yourself until you arrive at what would exist if your human body no longer remains.

Give this a go right now and don't worry if it isn't working for you.

I'm also going to guide you in using your imagination to connect with this true self shortly after.

Try this intuitive practice right now.

Take a moment to see who is the one observing your thoughts and sense of self.

Wonderful.

Now,

If you are unable to discover or sense this true self,

Let's imagine it.

I will describe it to you and I want you to imagine what it feels or even looks like.

This true self is a space where nothing exists.

A space before energy,

Before matter and form.

Kind of like an empty plate before a meal is placed on it.

This is the true you.

The one holding the experience that you likely have been identifying with.

See,

Sense,

Or feel this empty space using your imagination.

This space of pure calmness and peace where nothing exists.

The space holding the universe,

Holding you.

The space before creation,

Matter,

And energy.

Wonderful.

Now,

Tune into this sense of this space of emptiness now holding you.

You,

The person that you are experiencing.

Your energy body,

Your physical body,

Your thoughts,

Emotions,

And experiences.

Give this deep true self something to live through,

Something to experience.

Experiencing the human you.

Become aware of this true self within your human body and mind now.

Your true self is positive,

Loving,

Non-judgmental,

And peaceful.

It feels content,

Regardless of our outer circumstances and whatever is happening in life,

Whatever our experiences are.

It is the only constant thing in reality.

Everything else is temporary.

Feel this true self.

Feel this constant now and let it expand within you.

Let it penetrate your thoughts by focusing on it.

Let it penetrate your body by sensing and feeling it.

Letting this deeper true self be reflected in your human experience.

You can see or sense this inner peaceful space grow bigger and take up more space as you place your awareness on it.

Wonderful.

Now,

We can slowly introduce the idea of a small trigger for you.

You can imagine there is a stimulus or trigger nearby.

Simply notice your body or mind being slightly triggered for a moment here.

It is okay to be triggered.

It does not have power over you.

It is just an experience.

While you are experiencing this discomfort,

Bring your awareness back now to your core true self,

The one observing this human experience.

This beautiful space within you.

Even if you feel the discomfort arise from the trigger,

It is okay.

That is just part of the experience.

Let's continue to focus on this inner constant peaceful self,

Giving it the majority of your attention.

Grow your awareness on this inner true self.

Let it become stronger and take up more space in your mind,

In your body.

It is a space of love,

Acceptance,

And non-judgment.

Let it be where your thoughts focus on and what they become aware of,

No matter what else is going on in your world.

We dedicate your focus back to this inner self now,

While also being aware of a slight trigger.

Wonderful.

Please let go of the idea of being triggered or stimulated.

Let yourself only connect with this inner true core self now.

You are neutral.

This neutrality is within you,

Always.

Even if you're experiencing fear and darkness,

Your neutrality and calmness does not disappear.

It is always within you,

Always accessible.

Even through the darkest of times,

All you need to do is use your beautiful,

Strong willpower to bring your attention to this.

Bring your focus only to your inner calm and neutral self now.

Beautiful.

Let's do one more cycle of this practice again.

You can slowly reintroduce the idea of a trigger or stimulus for you.

You can imagine that it's nearby,

Or at a distance where it's not too alarming.

Notice your body or mind being slightly triggered.

While you're experiencing this discomfort,

Place as much of your awareness on your core inner self as you can.

Even if you feel the discomfort from the trigger,

It's okay.

Let's continue to focus using our willpower on this inner true self,

The one witnessing these experiences,

Giving it the majority of your attention and being okay with the triggering sensations at the same time.

Grow your awareness of this inner true peaceful self.

Let it become stronger and more powerful.

It is the space of neutrality,

Acceptance,

And non-judgment.

Let your awareness focus firmly here,

No matter what else is happening in your world.

If you're having thoughts arise,

Dedicate your focus back to this inner self now,

While also being aware of this slight trigger.

Amazing work.

Please let go of the idea of being triggered.

Let yourself return fully,

Connecting with this inner calm true self now.

This neutral sense of self also feels like compassion and love,

Because it is non-judgmental.

You are love.

Love is within you always.

All you need to do is use your beautiful strong willpower to bring your attention to it.

Bring your focus only to your inner neutral loving self now.

Wonderful work today.

Check in with yourself and see what you need right now.

Maybe you need to rest,

Or maybe you're excited to take on your day.

This practice is something you can apply when you are mindful enough while being triggered or expecting to be triggered.

Prepare yourself and tune into this deeper sense of self,

The one who is having the experiences of being human and at times being triggered.

This helps to disempower the triggering experience,

As it is only temporary.

You,

Your true self,

Is eternal.

You may also want to listen to this practice twice a day or more to help build this connection to your deep self.

We are retraining your awareness to now encompass your deep and true self.

This can take time,

Patience,

And practice.

Be gentle and loving with yourself,

And only use this practice if it feels in alignment with you.

Navigating the world of sensitivities is really about finding what works best for you.

Thank you so much,

Beautiful soul.

I am sending you so much love on your journey of navigating your sensitivities.

You are amazing.

You are a warrior.

You got this.
