The sensation of pain can be difficult to manage and bring mindfulness into. Extreme pain is a practice of presence as it ties our body and mind to this moment, it is usually however felt in a very stressful and negative way. This meditation allows you to appreciate the gifts your pain is bringing you. Also affirming the gifts of impermanence that each moment dies and a new one is reborn. It is hard to not take on pain as your identity "I am in pain, I am pain, I am suffering". By listening to this meditation you can listen to the other gifts in this moment, the peace that is offered, the deep inner joy and love that is always accessible to you and building on your connection to these truths. I hope this meditation gifts you a new awareness with your connection to your pain and your body and a stronger connection with your mindfulness and compassion. This meditation is useful for those undergoing surgery, physical trauma or feeling pain anywhere from a 5-10 on the pain scale.

Gently close your eyes and allow them to rest.

Allow a full breath to flow into your lungs.

Let that breath expand gently into your abdomen.

Invite the feeling of relaxation into your full body.

If there is an area of pain,

Relax the muscles and tissues around that area.

Release the stress of your mind.

Soften and release the tension of your body.

Take deep and soft breaths.

The sensation of pain is an ingredient to the experience of life.

The sensation of pain is a reminder that you are alive.

Life's joys cannot be appreciated without the experience of suffering.

It is possible to find inner peace while experiencing the sensation of pain.

Inner peace is within you.

Take some deep breaths and feed your inner peace by relaxing your mind.

Relaxing your mind.

Be aware of all the areas of pain in your body and your mind and say,

Thank you,

My pain,

For reminding me that I am human.

Thank you,

My body,

For all of the moments in my life that I was not in pain.

Thank you,

My suffering,

For teaching me to appreciate non-suffering.

Thank you for challenging me to find the strength to persevere.

And thank you for all of the moments of joy in my life.

Gently be aware that this moment carries impermanence.

The suffering you feel is temporary.

Breathing in gratitude for this life.

Breathing out and surrendering to this moment.

Breathing in calmness.

Breathing out,

Releasing pain.

Breathing in joy.

Breathing out stress.

Softly and gently breathing.

Full and present breath.

Accepting this moment.

Trusting it is temporary.

Finding joy in this moment.

Feeling gratitude for being alive.

Feel your breath flow into your abdomen and softly releasing through your lungs and your nose.

Being very present in this moment and appreciating this moment.

Thank you for watching.

That was so deep. It real got me and held me for the duration. For the first time I really felt what is meant when they say to be content with your physical pain. I’m getting closer to doing that. Thank you so much. The woman’s voice was so comforting. I wish she was on more of my meditations! πŸ’™πŸ§˜πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ™πŸΌπŸ¦‹

I suffer from a condition called Trigeminal Neuralgia (Google) the normal 1-10 Painscale rarely applies as what a normal person will rate a 10 I will rate a 5. Tonight I would have given my pain a 17/10. Having no options I found this meditation. In engaging with your words, my pain has reduced to 8/10. Thank you πŸ’œ I will be saving this for future emergencies

This meditation was helpful for me after dental surgery. I liked being able to focus on the breath and carefully relaxing my mind and body. It helped me shift my attention away from the pain. I also like the background music. It was very relaxing. Thank you!
