Welcome to this menstrual meditation.

Giving yourself as much time and space as you need to find your comfortable position.

And whatever position you've chosen,

Give yourself lots of space to settle,

To create your cozy nest,

To land,

To arrive.

Letting this be the sacred transition time from your everyday to this space that you have carved out for the purpose of meditation.

Noticing if the body needs to move or adjust in any way,

And always attending to that.

Making sure that you are as comfortable and as warm as you could want to be the right temperature.

And when you feel that all parts of your body are positioned in such a way that you can really soften and release,

Give yourself the best chance of softening and releasing.

Letting your attention be drawn in and down so that you can really sense into the surface that you're resting on.

And let yourself be held.

For now,

No need to use muscular effort to hold yourself up.

And as you surrender the weight of the body,

Is it possible to also begin surrendering any mental,

Emotional weight?

Letting this be a process that unfolds throughout.

No need for any high bars or great expectations.

Just simply letting be what is.

Everything unfolding just as it is here and now,

Everything valid,

Everything welcome.

Can you let all of you be welcome here?

Exactly as you are.

There's no right or wrong way to be.

There is simply you here in your wholeness,

Carving out this space.

Some days it might feel incredibly restful,

Other days there might be a restlessness.

Transforming everything,

Everything that is arising is always guiding.

And really trusting in the natural ebb and flow of your attention and of your awareness and presence.

Trusting that the ebb and the flow are a part of handing awareness into these liminal states and spaces of rest,

Relaxation,

Meditation.

Letting this be a defocusing meditation.

No need to concentrate,

No need to bring any mental energy.

Absorbing what soaks in naturally and letting everything else wash over and wash away.

And using this time as an opportunity to really tune in.

To let your awareness pour out of the mind and into the body.

And to keep coming back to that reminder,

Pouring awareness out of the mind into the body.

Tuning in,

Tapping into the frequency of your body's language.

Letting your naturally arising breath here be soft and soothing.

Taking in the sounds around you.

Sensing the ground beneath you.

Being consumed by this moment here and now.

And as you let yourself be consumed by this moment feel that you could start pulling away the strings of attachment to the world for this time here and now.

That you could cut the cords of expectations and duties and anything that is required of you so that you can really rest.

So you can listen in,

So you can start to come back home to you,

To your centre.

And to discover what it is you truly need in this moment.

See how naturally arising breath ebbing and flowing and facilitating the cutting of those cords,

The releasing of awareness from external to internal.

And if the breath isn't suiting you as an anchor today feel free to use sensation or sound.

And exploring a softening of the body.

Letting the body be the pathway that leads you to the doorway of your subconscious.

If in any moment you feel yourself arriving to that place,

Trying not to think yourself out or pull yourself away but rather trusting in what lies beyond the letting go.

Exploring a softening and a releasing of the hairline and the forehead.

Of the temples,

The corners of the eyes,

The eyelids,

Eyebrows and space in between the eyebrows.

The bridge of the nose,

Tip of the nose and the eyes.

Feeling the eyes released from any need to look or to see or to know.

Dropping back and down,

My role now completely focused on internal vision.

Sensing the cheeks and the cheekbones.

Feeling the cheeks soft.

No need for expression.

If any expression is present at all,

Let it be a soft natural smile but otherwise the face is expressionless.

Unhinging the jaws.

And feeling the whole of the face.

Inviting the whole of the face to release.

And can you invite the softness from the face to pour down.

The mind and the softness from the face pouring down into the body.

Down through a soft neck and shoulders.

Shoulders dropping down.

Arms heavy all the way from upper arms through forearms through wrists and hands.

The hands totally soft and open here,

Receptive.

Feeling the sensory experience of the palms of the hands.

And that pulse,

The hum of the hands.

Travelling through the arms to the heart space.

Feeling that connection between palms of hands and heart.

Inviting a sensory experience of the heart space.

At this time of the cycle perhaps a little vulnerable,

Soft,

Perhaps protected or perhaps open.

Noticing the quality of sensation at the heart that is there for you today.

Welcoming your heart just as it is.

No labels,

No right,

No wrong,

Just the sensory experience of your heart.

Your heart as your home.

Letting your home be a place that you feel you can really land into.

Maybe you've spent a lot of time in this home or maybe you've been slightly absent.

Getting yourself acquainted or reacquainted.

Welcoming everything,

Everything that is here in the heart home.

Nothing is out of place.

Everything has a purpose and a role.

No matter what is present the heart is always holding you.

The heart home always has a door welcoming you in.

Awareness pouring down all the way through the body past the diaphragm,

Past the solar plexus.

Sensing down into the hips,

The legs.

Can you let the kneecaps be soft?

Shins,

Calves and ankles.

Tops of the feet,

Soles of the feet.

Tips of the toes.

The sensory experience of the soles of the feet.

Inviting that hum and that pulse.

The sensory experience of the soles of the feet to move up through the legs feeling the connection between feet and womb space.

Feeling that connection down through the earth of the feet and up into the earth of the body in the womb space.

Sensing from the inside out the hum and the pulse from the feet being drawn up into the womb space.

So the palms of the hands connected to earth and sky pouring down into the heart and the soles of the feet connected to earth.

Drawing up and being gathered into the womb space.

Breathing and being with heart and womb,

With earth and sky and the ebb and the flow of the breath.

Like the ocean.

With your awareness pulled at the womb space sensing into not only the process of clearing out and letting go that is unfolding within you right now but also that of renewal and transformation.

Each letting go,

A clearing out,

A shedding,

A releasing of old cells,

Old blood,

Old parts of you no longer needed.

Old skins that are no longer comfortable.

Old labels that no longer make sense or fit.

Feeling that clearing out and how it is an opening for the arrival of something new.

A new experience,

A new way of being,

A new chapter in this one precious life of yours.

Surrendering to the clearing out to the process of release.

Each inhalation receiving,

Each exhalation releasing.

And if you could surrender and let go right now,

What might that allow?

The breath massaging your belly,

Your womb space and your awareness bearing witness to the cleansing processes that are unfolding effortlessly and wildly within you.

Letting yourself be carried by currents without agenda or destination.

Those currents carrying you towards the unknown void of your menstrual experience.

Drifting into the unseen,

Into the spaces in between.

Into spaces that can't be thought to but rather must be let go into.

Not unlike the living go that happens as you fall asleep.

Surrendering into that familiar yet unquantifiable space.

Surrendering in that pull in and down towards your liminal experience.

The pull in and down to your menstrual awareness,

To your womb space,

To the nourishing,

Replenishing menstrual void.

A space where nothing is required of you.

The body's invitation for you to surrender into simply being.

Continuing to be carried on currents of breath and awareness.

Moving where they are needed.

Very intuitively.

Feeling that that stream is carrying you.

That you are drifting downstream all the way towards the opening of a cave and within that cave a pool.

Feel that you are floating into the pool within your very own menstrual cave retreat space.

That you are drifting from the daylight into the replenishing darkness retreating from the world.

Feeling soothed by the water,

Calmed by the stillness in the space.

Replenished by the quiet and the darkness.

Letting yourself be here in your very own menstrual cave.

How does saying how you would like to be here and how it feels to retreat.

What it is that most nourishes you as you pull back from the world.

Noticing how it feels to rest and to take space.

To be in your body.

Souls of the feet connected to earth and womb.

The palms of the hands connected to sky and heart.

And naturally a rising breath ebbing and flowing.

A continuous invitation to surrender.

To tune in.

To come back home.

And once more the softness of the face.

Expressionless or a soft natural smile inner or outer.

Pouring down through the whole of the body inviting the whole of the body to be soft.

For the muscles to release and surrender.

The bones to drop.

To notice any pull towards doing,

Thinking.

The breath continuously inviting you to surrender into simply being.

Practising simply being.

How does it feel to simply be.

No right or wrong.

How would it be to not let yourself be sold the myth of consistency,

Predictability,

Infinite resource.

You are a wild thing and like all wild things you must wax and wing.

And your whole being depends on this minstrel ebb.

So that you may have the capacity to fully flow.

The tires must draw out.

And then inevitably,

They pour back in and that fullness.

And then your very own time.

Either lingering here in this quiet space.

For as long as you feel able to for as long as you have the time to.

While letting your awareness softly gradually emerge back out so that you can sense the space around you the sounds around you.

Letting the breath move perhaps a little more vibrantly.

And as you let yourself gradually transition back.

I wanted to share this closing reading.

This is a poem called allow by Dan of Folds.

There is no controlling life.

Try corralling a lightning bolt containing a tornado.

Damn a stream and it will create a new channel.

Resist and the tide will sweep you off your feet.

Allow and grace will carry you to higher ground.

The only safety lies in letting it all in.

The wild with the weak,

Fear,

Fantasies,

Failures and success.

When loss rips off the doors of the heart.

Or sadness veils your vision with despair.

Practice becomes simply burying the truth.

In the choice to let go of your known way of being.

A whole world is revealed to your new eyes.

In your very own time feel free to gradually start to peel and peer back out into the world.

Feel free to bring back any movements.

And then whenever you feel too you might start to bring yourself around but take your time.
