When someone tells me that they want something or need/must have something or someone, I always tell them to upgrade their statement. Upgrade your needs to wants and your wants to desires.

Hello and welcome to the next installment of the 21 Day Series to Open Your Heart.

I'm super excited about today because today is Day 5 and that is learning to open your heart by tapping into desire.

So I want you to really think about what desire means for you and when I say the word desire,

What comes up for you?

So we're going to settle into a meditation as per usual and what I'm going to do is start off with the sound bowl,

So you'll hear that,

And then we're going to head right into it.

Okay,

So please situate yourself into a comfortable position,

Ideally sitting,

Ideally with your back straightened and centered and strong and healthy.

And your breathing coming to a slowness,

An ease,

A pace that works for you and is comfortable for you.

And I also would love for you to keep your palms open and keep your hands relaxed and please continue to close your eyes.

And please enter into a deep state of relaxation by breathing normally as you would in and out,

Inhaling and exhaling.

So when you think of the word desire,

I'm not asking you to interpret it.

To analyze it or to go into the story of what the word desire means for you.

It may not mean anything for you,

It may mean a lot of things for you.

I just want you to relax and be open that the definition of the word is going to change for you and it may be all that it means.

So continue to breathe into it.

The next step of this meditation is going to be a visualization exercise.

So I want you to make sure that your eyes are closed and make sure that you're relaxed so you can enter a very clear picture in your mind's eye and you're not keeping your eyes open and looking at other things.

Let my voice guide you.

I'm here with you.

Breathe into that.

So where I want to start by taking us is a visualization of a Chinese finger trap.

So maybe you know what a Chinese finger trap is and maybe you don't.

If you do,

Please be patient with me as I explain for those who don't know what a Chinese finger trap is.

A Chinese finger trap is typically used as a toy and it's kind of a tube,

Almost like a tube.

Usually painted in red and yellow.

It's made of plastic and how it works is typically when you put your index finger typically in the Chinese finger trap and you put in another finger on the other side,

Entering the other side of the tube of the Chinese finger trap.

Typically what happens is that the more you try to get your fingers out of it,

The more resistance there will be to the tube is actually contracted after being initially expanded so that you're trapped and your fingers are both trapped inside of it.

However,

There is a way to get out of this trap and I'm going to use that solution in this visualization utilizing the Chinese finger trap as a partner.

Continuing to breathe the entire way through.

The breath is your guide,

The breath is your compass.

So,

Imagining that in this Chinese finger trap,

You approach it with your index finger and you have your index finger as you and then on the other end of that finger trap,

There is another finger and it belongs,

It represents and belongs to the thing or person that you feel that you need or that you want the most in life right now.

It can be a thing,

It can be a person.

The finger on the other end represents that.

Now,

As both fingers enter the tube or the trap,

They both enter and then as they try to quickly get out,

There's resistance and they're trapped.

You get close to what you really most want and you need it so bad that as you enter this symbolical trap,

The resistance of not wanting to leave and wanting to hold on traps you,

Keeps you there.

So much so that even if you wanted to leave,

You couldn't,

You can't,

It's a trap.

However,

There's more to this.

Now that you've learned that it's important to be careful for what you wish for because now that there's tension from wanting something or someone so bad that now you're trapped with it,

The important thing is to relax.

Relax.

Relaxing to realize that in order to get out of the trap,

It requires coming together.

It requires calming,

Relaxing,

Enjoying yourself with the thing or person you want and you need the most.

Relaxing,

Pausing,

Coming together,

Moving together and then from there,

Very slowly,

You can actually move your way out.

The only way you can move your way out of it is by relaxing and pausing and that's the only way that you have freedom from being trapped in something you're not or still think you want and you need.

You're needing something or feeling like even if you want something or someone,

You're still coming from a place of need.

As though without it,

You're without,

You're lacking in some way.

When you say,

I want this or I need them or I want this or I want them,

It can be a very compelling trap.

However,

It's important to see it for what it is,

A trap.

When you come at it from a place of desire,

As in,

It means a lot to me,

This thing or this person means a lot to me,

I desire them most deeply.

I desire this thing most deeply.

That's when you're really relaxing,

Pausing,

Connecting to what feels most true for you.

Breathe and feel into that.

Before I leave you for the rest of your day,

Remember and speak and even perhaps write this affirmation.

What I desire,

Desires me.

Please release your body and state from this meditation.

Open your eyes,

Stretch your hands and feet and legs.

We go your spine.

We're going to close it now.

And with the sound of the sound bowl,

You are released from meditation.

Have an amazing rest of your day.

Thank you.

It's great to be meditating with you.
