Welcome!

I'm Candy Foster,

And I am an intuitive and a channel,

And I pull a card for The Collective each day.

Each month I choose a different deck,

And this month I've chosen the Yuletide Tarot from Christopher Hughes.

If you have not followed me yet,

Be sure to do so,

As you will get notifications every day when the daily reading is released,

Along with any other meditations,

Reiki sessions,

Etc.

,

That I have put out.

Thank you for joining,

And I hope you enjoy.

Today's card is number 12,

The Hanged Man,

Reversed.

Sacrifice,

Surrender,

Illumination.

In this card,

We meet two important figures in the development of Yuletide traditions.

The first is the Tree of Life,

The Tree of All Trees.

In mythology,

It bears a thousand names.

All trees are connected to this single world tree,

And the cosmos spin into being around it.

Notice how the tree bears a host of different fruits,

From a variety of trees.

It is simultaneously an oak,

A pine,

A pear,

To name but a few.

Upon this tree,

We meet another enigmatic figure that is often associated with Yuletide,

The Norse god Odin.

His hand covers his left eye,

Which he gave in sacrifice while in exchange for wisdom and knowledge.

Later,

Odin hung upon the world tree for nine days and nine nights to gain the knowledge of other worlds and understand the power of the runes.

In essence,

Odin sacrificed himself to himself,

And in that act,

He learned the wisdom of all things and the wonders of the cosmos and its laws.

His connection to the Yuletide season can be somewhat tenuous,

With many claiming that he is the original inspirer of what was to become Father Christmas or Santa Claus.

In the guise of the hanged man,

It is Odin who hangs from the great tree of life,

And in doing so,

He teaches us about the nature of sacrifice,

Meaning to make something sacred,

And of letting go.

When we sacrifice and give of ourselves with deep intent and integrity,

Enlightenment or illumination can be gleaned,

But the process itself may well be painful and uncomfortable.

The reversed meaning of this?

You are fighting a battle that has originated from within yourself,

And for various reasons,

You have been unable to recognize them as your own doing.

A stoic stubbornness has overtaken your ability to think clearly and make the right decisions.

I hope this message was helpful today.

Thank you so much for joining.

Namaste.
