Work can be meaningful and fulfilling.
It can also be a place where we struggle.
We care about the outcome.
We want things to go well.
And sometimes that care turns into tension,
Into gripping,
Resistance,
Frustration,
Or the pressure to control.
When I become overly identified with my role,
My tasks,
Or how others perceive what I do,
I can lose sight of the deeper part of myself.
This is always whole,
Steady,
And aware.
This practice is an opportunity to step back,
To soften the attachment to how work should be,
And to relate more spaciously with what I am here to do.
Not withdrawing from responsibility per se,
But more engaging with presence,
Clarity,
And freedom.
So before we begin,
Just know that you can find a quiet space or still moment.
It doesn't matter where you are.
I do this meditation sitting directly at my desk often.
Or you may want to do it in your car before heading into the day.
Or in bed before you even step out in the morning.
But just a moment is enough.
Right here is enough.
So now,
I allow myself to pause,
And return to awareness.
With each inhale,
I say silently,
I am here.
With each exhale,
This is now.
I notice,
This body is not me.
These thoughts are not me.
This role,
This work,
This identity,
All arising within my awareness.
And still,
Here I am,
Present,
Witnessing.
I am not the work.
I care for myself,
Not because I must,
But because love moves through me.
Compassionate.
Unattached.
I let go of control.
I remain in love.
Let this work be done through me.
With love.
With presence.
Without possession.
I am the witness.
I am the way.
I am here.
I live and act from this identified consciousness.
Freedom is not something to attain,
Because there is no bondage.
I engage with my work in the world with devotion and non-attachment.
Lovingly.
Responsibly.
Yet,
Without possession.
My work in the world is sacred.
Not because it is ultimately real,
But because I am present in it.
Breathing in.
I am here.
Breathing out.
This is now.
Here I remain.
Aware.
Open.
Free.
