Hello everyone,

Thanks for joining this practice with me today.

Today we're going to work on acknowledging difficult emotions.

And if at any point you need to stop the recording because difficult emotions are difficult,

Please do.

So with that being said,

Find a comfortable position either seated or lying down.

You'll want to make sure that your spine is straight in whatever position that it's in.

And you can just start to relax any tense points in the body.

A lot of times our shoulders and hips,

Wrists can just feel really tense.

So maybe you move those areas a little bit with some gentle stretches or just inhale and exhale into them.

Whatever brings some ease to those tense and tight spots in your body.

And of course you can have your eyes open or closed,

Whatever feels comfortable and safe for you in this moment.

And just start to focus on your breath.

Breathing in for a count of three and exhaling for a count of three.

In for three and out for three.

In for three and out for three.

Take a moment to settle into this moment here.

We don't have to focus on the things that we just came from or the things that are next on our list.

But we can choose to focus on the fact that we decided to show up today in this way.

To take a moment away from the craziness and to tune into ourselves.

And as you're ready,

Begin to think about something that feels really hard right now.

Whether that be an emotion,

A sensation,

Something at work,

Something at home,

Whatever the first thing is that comes to mind.

And allow that to sit with you for just a moment.

Think about why it's hard.

And then as you're ready,

Imagine that feeling.

Kind of a thought bubble forming around that feeling or that thought.

Imagine just allowing that thought bubble to float out through the nearest door.

And just sit with that feeling.

What does it feel like to allow there to be space to feel these feelings?

And then allow them to move on.

And perhaps you choose another thought or feeling that's coming up for you that feels more neutral.

Maybe not so difficult,

But not so easy.

And allow it space.

And then imagine a thought bubble kind of wrapping around that neutral thought.

And as it's ready,

Floating out the door.

And as you're ready,

Bring to mind a positive feeling or emotion or event in your life.

The first thing that comes to mind,

Something that brings you joy and makes you happy.

And notice how it feels in your body if there are any sensations or things that come up for you.

And then imagine a thought bubble around this feeling.

And allow it to float out through the door when it's ready.

And sit with this feeling again of allowing all feelings.

They can all take up space.

Knowing that they don't stick around.

They come by,

We let them in.

Maybe we offer them a cup of tea.

And then they go on their way and we shut the door behind them.

We don't have to attach to these feelings and create a story or make them define us.

We have a choice to allow them to come in and out of our lives every single day.

Bring yourself back to your breath.

Taking a deep inhale and exhale.

And doing that once more.

And thanking yourself for showing up today.

For tending to your mind and your heart.

And knowing that whenever emotions,

Good,

Bad,

Neutral,

Come up,

We can sit with them.

We can have them in for tea and then like any guest,

They will leave eventually.

You can begin to open your eyes and move your body in any ways that feel really good.

Or not.

Maybe just staying still.

I hope you have a wonderful day and I'll see you back here next time.
