Today's meditation is inspired by events that result in emotions that are difficult to manage and overcome.
Let's start in an upright seated position with hands resting on the legs.
Close the eyes and beginning to connect with the breath,
We'll deeply inhale through the nose,
Hold the breath and deeply and slowly exhale through the nose.
Again,
Slow deep inhale,
Hold,
Slow deep exhale.
Continue to breathe like this on your own and begin to observe how you feel right now.
Mad,
Sad,
Stressed,
Anxious,
Annoyed,
Bitter,
Discouraged,
Disappointed,
Pain,
Sorrow,
And truly feel it.
Welcome that feeling,
Not shrugging it away just because it's deemed negative.
Breathing.
Be open to feeling your feelings and emotions.
Allow yourself to experience them.
Be present,
Giving yourself time to express them.
Be human,
Feel,
Breathe.
Remembering deep inhale,
Holding the breath and deep exhale.
From these emotions,
Start to lean out of your fear and into courage.
Just the fact that you're facing your emotions and allowing the feelings to surface is the embodiment of courage.
Safely.
Awesome!
When we don't confront or disturb uneasy emotions,
We let those emotions build up and harden within us.
We then take them everywhere with us and let them trickle into our thoughts and behaviors and interactions.
So soften.
Breathe.
Leave space in your heart for the good stuff.
The more we spread compassion and kindness,
The more we can open ourselves to feeling these emotions more deeply and healing during difficult times.
Deep inhale through the nose.
Hold.
Deep exhale through the nose.
Keep going,
Breathing.
Now see if you can recall and access a time that you felt happiness,
Compassion,
Love,
And love.
Let the emotion take over your body and mind,
Freeing your heart and mind from the grips of distress,
Fear,
Doubt,
Hatred,
And soften.
Continue with the breath.
As we let the more positive emotions permeate through us,
Start now to notice who,
What,
Where those emotions involve.
Helping us remember what's truly important in life.
Your relationships with people,
Your relationship with yourself,
Experiences,
Your health,
Whatever it may be.
Bow your head in gratitude to your life.
No matter how difficult and trying times may be,
There is always something to be grateful for.
Deep inhale,
Slowing the breath.
Deep exhale.
Choosing to live life bravely and emerging stronger from difficulties,
You're subsequently choosing to contribute to a better tomorrow,
Betterment within,
And betterment throughout.
As you go back into your day,
Remember to take compassion and kindness with you,
And remember how compassion and kindness given to you feels,
Especially during difficult times.
