So I talk about aliveness a lot,
The energy of aliveness,
Following the thread of aliveness.
Some people have asked me,
What do you mean?
So I want to try and get specific.
I get really inspired by this quote from Howard Thurman,
Who was a reverend for Martin Luther King Jr.
,
Among many other things,
A legend.
And he said,
Don't ask what the world needs,
Instead discover what makes you come alive and go do that.
The world needs more people who have come alive.
So don't ask what the world needs,
Instead discover what makes you come alive and go do that.
The world needs more people who have come alive.
So what I mean by the energy of aliveness is,
For me,
It can be tingles of electricity that might show up on my face,
My nose and my mouth,
In the back of my left shoulder more recently.
When I,
Say,
Watch a trailer for a well-made movie,
A story really well told can do it.
It feels like this internal gong that is donging with vibration.
It can lead to goosebumps.
It can lead to the hairs being raised on the back of my neck.
It can be much more subtle than that.
It is just a moment of profound presence.
Being in the presence of an elder redwood tree usually does it.
Listening to someone I deeply admire,
Like Sir Ken Robinson,
Or reading an author that I love,
Like Octavia Butler.
It can often be a moment of resonance that lights me up in a session with a client.
It can be a moment of synchronicity.
And really,
It is so deeply personal and can definitely happen in a group with those who you share soul resonance with.
It is something that can happen spontaneously walking down a hallway and there's absolutely no trigger whatsoever.
But each time,
It is an opportunity to just pay attention.
It is an invitation to come into this moment and pay attention to what is here.
It can often feel like a green light that just says,
Stay alert and keep going.
Aliveness,
When followed,
I believe,
Is a way for us to stay in alignment,
In connection with our souls,
With this energy that guides us into a more beautiful world.
