Can you allow yourself to let go? Part of being human is our desire to want to control things. The reality is there is a whole Universe which exists outside of the realms of your control. If we spend our whole life clinging to plans, we may miss out on receiving what is actually here. There is a quote that: “Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans.” What life is here to be lived? Just in this moment, can you allow yourself to let go? Let's breathe and let go.

Welcome to this meditation practice on letting go.

Allow your body to be comfortable resting in whatever posture feels good for you right now.

Gently closing the eyelids and allowing your body to settle down and to create a deeper connection to this body in this present moment.

We'll take some deep belly breaths and as we do these breaths see if you can allow your belly to really expand on the in breath.

So we're breathing right down into the belly.

So a short exhale to begin and then take a nice deep breath in through the nose drawing the breath right down into the belly and then exhaling out through the mouth.

Another deep breath again in through the nose allowing the belly to expand and rise and exhaling through the mouth.

Another deep breath again in through the nose nice and steady and even and exhaling out through the mouth.

Very good.

Another deep breath again in through the nose feeling the belly expand and exhaling through the mouth.

Final breath like that drawing the breath deeply into the belly once more and then just letting go on the exhale.

Lovely well done.

Now allow your breathing to settle back down following whatever pattern or rhythm that is.

Take a moment to notice any sensations after those deep breaths.

Perhaps there's a bit of dizziness maybe feeling lightheaded it's okay to feel that.

It's just the body adjusting after taking those deep breaths.

And as we start to invite in the idea of letting go I'm going to invite you to play with those words in your mind.

When you hear the words let go what comes up for you?

You can say them in your mind if you wish or say them aloud maybe softly let go.

What does it feel like to let go?

We can explore that now with taking a nice deep breath again into the body and on the exhale as you release the breath letting go.

Drawing the breath in and just let go.

As human beings we love to control things we love to plan and strategize.

The reality is there's a whole universe out there filled with so much that is out of our control.

So right now in this moment can you give yourself permission just to let go.

Saying those words in your mind if it feels good let go.

It's okay to let go.

Noticing if the body responds at all maybe there's resistance to that invitation maybe relief.

Letting go is not about giving up it takes courage sometimes to let go.

Can you take a deep breath in and know that it's okay to let go.

The mind will wander off into thoughts and that's okay it's what the mind does but even with the mind wandering off can you let those thoughts go and can you let go of the judgment around the mind wandering off.

That right now in this moment can you fully invite yourself to let go.

Let go of all that thinking,

Let go of that pressure,

Let go of expectations,

Let go of the stories,

Let go.

It's okay to let go and if there's resistance to that invitation we can allow that resistance to be there.

Opening up enough to allow yourself to notice the thoughts and feelings.

The thoughts in the mind,

The feelings in the body.

What happens when you let go?

Can you trust that everything is as it should be and it's okay to let go?

Can you allow yourself to be okay with whatever's here?

Just letting go.

Like a dog with a stick or a ball the mind doesn't like to let go of thoughts easily sometimes.

So if there's internal struggle,

Struggling with the struggle,

Can we open up and allow that to be there and just letting go.

And let's explore letting go in the body so if it feels good for you you can allow the body to be soft and relaxed.

So bringing your attention to the face,

Allowing the face to be soft,

The jaw to be soft,

The muscles and skin around the eyes and the eyelids.

Just letting go,

Allowing your whole body just to be soft and relaxed.

It's okay if there's some tension just seeing if you can let go.

Then as the body physically releases and lets go welcoming in a deep breath into the body letting go on the exhale,

Allowing your physical body to be heavy and relaxed.

It's okay to let go.

Right now in this moment it's okay to put aside whatever you want to let go of.

There is a quote that life is what happens while we're making other plans.

So when we explore this idea of letting go perhaps life can be lived through you and we don't need to plan so much.

We can just allow things to unfold just letting go,

Allowing and trusting.

And as we start to come towards the end of this practice take a moment to notice,

To check in with yourself noticing how the invitations of letting go landed.

Noticing how the body feels and being so proud of yourself for having the courage to even explore the idea of letting go.

Perhaps it felt easy,

Perhaps there was resistance.

In meditation we are cultivating a deeper awareness of what is here.

Letting go of what we think things should be.

And to gently lift out of this practice keep the eyes still closed and start to invite a bit of gentle movements.

If it's available to move your hands and your feet you can very softly start to move them.

Maybe you want to take a little bit of a stretch and being really gentle with your body moving nice and slowly and when you are ready to open your eyes doing so very gently,

Really slowly giving yourself time just to adjust letting the light,

The colors and the shapes slowly come back into focus.

Well done and thank you.
