Welcome to this guided meditation.
The intention of this meditation is finding your truth.
In this life,
Our minds can be so filled with the thoughts,
Ideas and beliefs of everyone around us.
So discovering or uncovering what is true for you can be somewhat tricky.
So in this practice today we are going to use some questions.
Some questions to ask yourself with the spirit of enquiry to try to tap into what is really true for you.
These questions can be thought of as soul questions.
In many cultures,
Past and present,
The soul is thought to reside in the heart.
And all of us in this life sharing this journey together,
We recognise that balance between the head and the heart and how often we can get lost in thoughts can end up turning our back on what the heart says or not following our intuition or having a gut feel but maybe not fully trusting it.
So these soul questions are designed to strengthen that connection to your heart,
To that deep place of inner knowing.
An important aspect of this practice that is so valuable is to recognise this,
That the enquiry is more important than the answers.
That the enquiry is more important than the answers.
We do not need to get too fixated on seeking eternal truths in the first round of asking these questions.
And in fact,
Every day you are slightly different.
We get a fresh start every day and you are constantly changing.
So how you respond to these questions over the course of a single day may even change.
So let's drop into the body since that's where our emotions and often our intuition,
Our gut feeling is felt.
To create a deeper connection to this body in this present moment,
Let's take some deep belly breaths together.
In your own time,
Just gently lifting up through the spine so there's a bit more length in the body and let's take a deep in breath in through the nose allowing the belly to expand on the in breath and now exhaling out through the mouth.
Deep breath again in through the nose,
Breathing down deep into your belly,
Nice and soft and exhaling through the mouth.
Relaxing the face,
Dropping the shoulders,
Breathing again in through the nose,
Belly expands,
Maybe you feel the chest expand now and releasing and exhaling.
Deep breath again in through the nose allowing the belly and the chest to expand and exhaling,
Beautiful.
Final breath like that,
Breathing all the way down into the belly and gently releasing and exhaling through the mouth.
Beautiful,
Well done.
Now allow your breathing to settle back down and just noticing any sensations in the body after those deep breaths,
Maybe you feel a bit light headed or some tingling,
That's okay to feel that.
It's just the body adjusting after those deep breaths.
And so allowing your physical body to rest in stillness and noticing the busyness of the mind and seeing if you can bring your attention to really notice the physical body in this space,
Really becoming present in your body.
And I'll offer up these soul questions.
And as I say these words,
Let my words be your words as you say them in your mind.
Keeping an attitude of curiosity and also compassion,
Trust in that the answers are inside of you.
The first soul question,
Who am I?
Who am I?
The second soul question,
What do I want?
Or what do I truly desire?
What do I want?
Or what do I truly desire?
The third soul question,
How can I serve?
Or what is my purpose?
How can I serve?
Or what is my purpose?
The fourth and final soul question is this,
What am I grateful for?
What am I grateful for?
Taking a moment to observe the mind and the different responses that may or may not have emerged.
Take a moment to bring your awareness to your body,
Noticing the physical body,
Being curious to notice how some of those soul questions landed.
Remembering that the inquiry is more important than the answers.
So trusting in whatever is coming up,
And with curiosity and compassion as well as discernment,
Trusting that you can uncover more of your own inner knowing that you can find your own truth in this life.
In this life the journey from the head to the heart is an adventure.
Thank you for sharing some of the adventure with me.
As we come to the end of this practice,
Take a moment to honour and acknowledge yourself for showing up and with a spirit of self-inquiry,
Having the courage to look within and to ask those soul questions.
So in your own time,
Taking a nice deep breath into this body,
Drawing that breath all the way in and gently releasing.
And to help you lift out of this practice in your own time,
Starting to move the hands,
Try moving the feet and the legs,
Take a little stretch if you wish,
Being gentle with your body.
And when you are ready to open your eyes,
Doing so very slowly,
Very gently,
Giving yourself time to let the colours and the shapes come back into focus.
Thank you.
