Root Of A Belief
In our mind, we carry beliefs that are either self-created or absorbed by our environment. The beliefs we have shape our daily experiences. Together we take a journey to the root of the belief for review if you are ready to let go. Giving up a belief creates room for a new experience in your thoughts and actions.

Hello,
I welcome you to this moment where we will be together for the next 15 to 20 minutes doing a visual journey looking at the roots of a belief something that you're carrying with you that may be impeding your ability to progress and move forward in some way I encourage you to get into a comfortable position and begin closing the tabs inside of your mind that tell you that you need to take care of something or be somewhere or do something right now just allowing the mind to become aware of the fact that you're dedicating this time for yourself and your interior journey and anything that's waiting for you afterward will still be there we don't have to think about it right now my name is Bridget Hopkins and I am honored to be your guide through this mental exercise that will bring relief to your body mind and spirit so go ahead and close your eyes and let us begin imagine that you're standing in front of a floor-length mirror you can see your feet all the way to the top of your head and I ask you to begin paying attention to where your eyes go as you're looking in the mirror do you become hyper focused on one area of your body are you noticing any thoughts or judgments you may actually be having moments of gratitude maybe you've been working on your physical strength and well-being and you're noticing those efforts but just notice where you're looking what you're thinking about as you look there and as the mirror slowly begins to ripple it's as if the reflection is now you looking into a pool of water that's being held inside of the frame of the mirror take a nice deep breath and put one of your arms through and see how that feels for you and if you feel secure go ahead and put the other arm through and put your head and your head back into the mirror and as you're standing in the mirror you can begin to take in the view that you're standing in a beautiful glen remembering to stay with your breath look around you and see if there's anything that's bothering you and if you notice anything that's bothering you remembering to stay with your breath look around and paint the image for yourself an image that's comforting and brings ease to the body we begin walking down a gravel path and i ask you to bring to mind the recurring belief that you hear yourself saying many times throughout the day it may start with the phrase of i can't i won't i don't know it's too much this is so hard i'm not enough as we continue walking down the gravel path and the distance you'll begin to see a beautiful large ancient willow be aware of what the belief is as we make our way down the gravel path be aware of what the belief is as we make our way to the willow tree begin to notice how the wind is blowing through the branches of the willow the leaves are dancing find your way around the base of the willow and please make yourself comfortable perhaps it may be comforting to place your back against the base of the willow or lie down among her roots whatever feels good to you and begin to feel yourself sinking it's as if the ground is opening up to cradle you and hold you and we're sinking deeper and deeper into the roots of the willow see the roots coming from the base of your feet and tailbone and allow them to merge with hers bring to mind the belief that you had earlier and let's trace the roots to find where this began for you give yourself time to follow and flow with the belief to its origin if you notice any sense of fogginess or cloudiness of i'm just not sure what's happening that's okay just bring to mind the root system and allow your imagination to keep walking you through the roots and they may be a little bit more difficult than you think just bring to mind the root system and allow your imagination to keep walking you through the roots and they may become tangled and messy and that's okay keep asking the willow to help you to find the root origin of this belief and we don't need to get caught up in story or any type of discomfort we're just looking for where it began you may get a flash of an image or see a symbol or a color or feel a sensation of warmth or tingling and when you find the root ask it to come into the palm of your hand and as you're cupping it in the palm of your hand just slowly begin to put it into your pocket and let us find our way back to the surface going along the root system of the willow once again seeing the glen feeling the temperature shift you can hear the sound of the tree with the wind and then as you're cupping it in the palm of your hand you can hear the sound of the tree with the wind and asking willow to begin taking you up higher imagine one of her beautiful strong branches wrapping around you and as the wind begins to gust the branch begins to lift and you slowly begin to elevate higher and higher just giving yourself over to being held and supported by these two nature spirits higher and higher still begin taking in the landscape from this height begin reaching into your pocket taking the belief putting it back in the palm of your hand and from this vantage point and this level of support of branch and wind looking at this belief are you noticing something different about it perhaps it has a different quality to it from this vantage point I'd like for you to ask yourself what is the gift of holding on to this and what is the cost asking yourself does this belief benefit me any longer and if you're getting any sense that this belief is no longer serving you you're not benefiting from it and if you're getting any sense that this belief is no longer serving you you're not benefiting from it in any way what would you prefer to believe noticing that you're being held by this very old very wise tree that spent years and years centuries being in this glen of sun and moon and wind and earth day after day year after year growing and expanding each year being marked on the bark of the tree and every cycle she has to let go she has to release all of those leaves and branches and branches that are no longer growing so again what would you prefer to believe what will help you continue to grow in this new cycle and bring that thought form the new belief thought form the one that will support you in growing the one that will support you in expanding and deepening and bring that close to your heart placing your hand on your heart begin bringing that new belief into the womb of your heart space where it can be nurtured and held by you and if you're feeling like there's any sense of resistance or uncertainty invite the wind to come in and clear that space let us make room for this new belief clearing out any of the old dusty cobwebs of yesterday in this now moment as a creator of your own reality you are working a new belief into your system one that fosters your growth and well-being taking a nice deep breath and really drinking it in feeling it settle in that womb space of your heart and we're feeling the signal from the willow tree that it's time to come back down to the ground and slowly slowly slowly begin making your way closer to the soil just take in one final view 360 degrees and as your feet touch the soil take a moment to notice how it feels to be in the soil and if you feel like you're in the soil and as your feet touch the soil take a moment to notice how it feels to be you right now let us begin making our way back to the gravel path and as we come to the back side of the mirror getting ready to go through just notice if there's anything else that needs to be left here and is there anything that you would like to say or do before we cross back over check in with yourself and when you're ready place one arm through and the other arm and your head and your torso and legs and feet and feet and we're back onto the other side of the mirror in your space just slowly begin to move your hands and your arms and your legs give a little wriggle maybe even put your hands up above your head and reach for the sun thank you so much for joining me today and I wish you many blessings as you nurture this new belief
