Healing your inner child depends on your ability to move through life's triggers. Every time you are triggered by a person or situation, your inner child is activated asking you to see him/her and give him/her what they need. Use this breathwork practice to connect deeper with your inner child and heal the wounds that still exist within. Not intended for children.

Hello and welcome to your short integrative session for breath work to move through your triggers.

When we are talking about triggers what's really important here is that we are able to take away the charge of the trigger and lean into the lesson.

A lot of times when we're triggered,

As I've spoken about before,

That's our inner child that's triggered,

That's having a memory,

That's remembering something from the past where she didn't get a need met.

And so what we want to do when we're triggered is we want to first be able to use the breath to take away the charge from the trigger so that we don't react to a person or in a situation from a place of fear and trauma response.

But instead we take away the charge of the trigger and then we're able to clear the mind a little bit more and actually listen internally to what that trigger is trying to teach us,

What that trigger is here for.

Because at the root of all triggers are a lesson.

There is a lesson at the root of every trigger.

There is a wound that hasn't been healed.

There is a need that you are trying to get met,

That your inner child is trying to get met now as an adult.

So what we're going to be doing today is we're going to be doing the breath work first and then at the end we're going to be sitting in some quiet space to lean into and hear what this trigger is here to teach you.

All right?

So we'll begin with the breath work.

So since this is a shorter session,

Remember you can sit up or you can lie down.

It's up to you.

You can do this one seated with your legs crossed or you can do it flat on your back with your legs out and palms facing up.

And if it feels safe just closing down your eyes.

And in this session today our theme is to move through our triggers.

And so the mantra of the session is,

I meet my trigger with curiosity and love.

So if you want to just bringing your hands to your heart or one to your heart,

One to your belly and repeating that mantra.

Being curious,

Why?

And meeting it with love.

Knowing that it's here for you to learn and for you to grow.

The breath pattern that we're going to be doing today,

We're going to be doing two rounds.

We're going to start with 10 conscious continual breaths and then move into 50 bliss breaths followed by 50 blow breaths,

10 conscious continual,

And then one top hold.

We'll be moving through that two times through and then at the end we'll be sitting in meditation and asking what your trigger is here to teach you.

So closing the eyes and beginning with that conscious continual breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Just connecting to your body,

Connecting to your breath.

Staying with that breath,

I meet my trigger with curiosity and love.

Taking three more of those conscious continual breaths,

Nice and gentle,

Nice and slow.

Last one in through the nose and out through the mouth and then moving into 50 bliss breaths just with the nose.

Keeping that breath active on the exhale with the nose,

Discharging the charge on the trigger and connecting back into your truth and your voice.

That's it,

10 more.

Nine,

Eight,

Seven,

Six,

Five,

Four,

Three,

Two,

One.

Releasing that bliss breath,

Taking one cleansing breath before we move into the blow.

In through the nose and out through the mouth and then on the next inhale moving into that blow breath with the mouth.

That's it,

Keeping that breath nice and active,

Focusing that exhale with the mouth,

Leaning into your trigger right here,

Letting the charge release on that exhale and just listening to any messages that want to come through.

Blowing out the breath,

10 more.

That's it,

Moving through five,

Four,

Three,

Two,

One.

Back to that conscious continual breath.

In through the nose,

Nice and gentle,

Nice and slow.

Clearing the frustration on the exhale,

You can let out some sound or some noise if that feels good,

To let go of the tension and the resistance to the trigger,

Just letting that release.

One last conscious breath and on the next inhale we're going to hold the breath at the top.

That's it,

Holding your breath right there at the top and as you hold,

Releasing your shoulders,

Dropping your shoulders,

Releasing your jaw,

Letting go of any tension in your stomach,

Releasing your tongue from the roof of your mouth.

There's nothing you need to figure out,

Just letting any answers,

Any truth come.

Your truth lies within.

The body is ready,

Just releasing that top hold and then moving into the conscious continual breath for the second set.

So taking 10 breaths in through the nose,

Out through the mouth.

Last three,

Being open to hearing any truth,

Any lesson,

What is this trigger here to teach you.

Clearing the breath,

Last conscious continual,

Then moving into that bliss breath.

Keeping that exhale through the nose active,

Letting the inhale happening naturally.

You've got this.

Being open to the lesson here,

Taking away the charge on the situation,

On the hurt,

What is under this trigger?

What is it that you need?

What is it that your inner child needs?

Releasing that bliss breath,

Taking one cleansing breath in through the nose,

Out through the mouth,

Now moving into the blow breath with the mouth.

Keeping with that active breath,

Exhaling with that blow.

Connecting with your inner child,

Visualizing her right in front of you,

What is it that she needs?

What needs were not being met during that trigger?

Was she not seen?

Was she not heard?

Did she not feel significant?

Was she uncertain?

Did she lose her sense of safety?

Just connecting with that,

Releasing that blow breath in 5,

4,

3,

2,

1,

And moving back into the conscious continual,

In through the nose,

Out through the mouth.

Letting anything that needs to come through,

Come through.

Out forcing,

Out controlling,

Just focusing on your breath right here.

5 more.

Last breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.

And on the next inhale,

Inhaling all the energy and holding it at the top.

That's it,

Holding that breath right there at the top.

Acknowledge my trigger and look for the lesson within.

Clearing out any noise right here and connecting with the truth.

Connecting with your needs.

Seeing if you can hold that breath just past the point of chaos.

Noticing any sensations,

Allowing them to be there.

Whenever your body is ready,

Just releasing your breath,

Coming back into stillness,

Placing your hands on your heart,

And asking yourself,

What is this here to teach me?

And just spending the next minute in silence,

Listening for any answer that wants to come through.

What is this here to teach me?

Just letting whatever answers come to you,

Come and knowing that you don't have to figure this out.

You will be shown exactly what you need to be shown and perfect timing if you just remain open with curiosity and compassion towards yourself,

Your inner child,

And your triggers.

I am sending you so much love.

Come back to this practice whenever you're feeling activated and need a release and need a reminder that these triggers are just here to teach you and to help you heal on your journey.
