Welcome to this meditation on how to shape our destiny.
Let's take the first few moments to settle in.
Sit in a comfortable position,
Perhaps sitting cross-legged on the floor,
Or sitting on a pillow or meditation cushion.
You can also sit comfortably in a chair,
On a couch.
We can lie down.
Meditation ought never be something strenuous or hard or something we need to struggle with.
We should always be comfortable,
Physically,
So that we can receive the benefits.
Now that you've found a comfortable position,
Hopefully,
Let's take a deep inhale together.
Exhale,
Let it go.
Again,
Deep inhale.
Fill the body with breath.
Exhale,
Let it go.
If you haven't already,
Close the eyes.
Draw your attention inward.
And we'll take one more breath together before we begin.
Deep inhale.
Cleansing breath.
Exhale,
Let it go.
Release any worry,
Fear,
Confusion.
Now find a steady rhythm for the breath.
Find a level of comfort in your body.
Find a sense of trust for the path you are on right now.
Without a need to label it a spiritual path or a righteous path or any kind of path,
Just know you are on a path.
And most likely,
You're exactly where you need to be in this moment.
Breathing consciously in a comfortable position,
Listening to something that may help you figure out how to create a future,
How to shape a destiny.
As you continue to settle,
See if you can relax the physical body.
Relax all the tiny muscles around the eyes.
Relax the jaw.
Release the tongue from the roof of the mouth.
And soften the space around the heart.
As we continue to settle and soften and become more aware of the inner life,
We're going to talk about karma,
The actions that we take.
I will offer some questions,
Some things to think about.
And hopefully these questions will lead you to a truth that will help you shape your destiny.
Let's begin.
In between the questions,
There'll be time to reflect.
I suggest listening with the heart to feel the answers,
Not to think about the answers or the questions or the words.
Feel what comes up as you hear these questions.
Let's begin.
What are you doing?
What actions are you taking in your life?
What actions are you taking that not only affect the now,
But all of our tomorrows?
How are we nourishing the body?
What actions are we taking to nourish the mind?
How do we connect to the spirit?
Which words do we use when we speak?
How do our actions help others?
How do we live our lives when nobody else is looking?
Are we selfish with our time,
Our resources,
Our love?
If we have free will and we can choose our actions,
How can we choose differently to create a better future,
To better shape our destiny?
How would we like to be remembered?
How would we like to be remembered?
Keeping the eyes closed,
Take a deep inhale.
Exhale let it go.
Please know there are no wrong answers to these questions.
There are no right answers to these questions.
Meditation ought to be experiential.
Each time we sit for meditation should be a brand new experience,
Should be a new opportunity to learn something about the mind,
The heart,
The body,
The soul,
The spirit,
The breath.
Each time we go within and explore and have the courage to listen to questions like these and to sit with the answers.
This is a very courageous thing.
And what we do moving forward with new knowledge,
New insight,
New wisdom that we acquire from these meditations,
These journeys to the innermost self that we take.
What we do now with this information,
The action that we take becomes our destiny.
We shape our future by action.
Let's take a deep inhale together.
Exhale let it go.
Slowly blink the eyes open.
Notice how the body feels.
Notice how the heart feels.
If you heard something that worked for you,
That was useful for you in this meditation,
Take it with you.
If something did not work for you,
If something did not apply to your life in this meditation,
Leave it behind.
Thank you for meditating with me.
Have a beautiful day.
