When you exercise,

You make changes on such a fundamental level that after a consistent period of doing it,

You can actually turn on genes that might have laid dormant in your DNA.

Exercise changes how your genes express themselves,

So much so that there are DNA tests that would reveal a completely different person when these genes are turned on.

It's almost like with hypnosis.

You can draw upon and awaken your experiences and resources to change how you feel about exercise,

Completely changing your attitudes and beliefs towards working out.

You can even take on the attitudes and beliefs of people that you know are amazingly successful at reaching fitness goals.

Using your powerful inner mind,

Achievement of this is possible,

And it can all be as easy as taking a deep breath,

Relaxing and focusing on my voice as I count down from five to one.

Exercise Five Close your eyes and relax even deeper.

Four Adjust yourself physically so that you can remain safely and comfortably seated,

Following along for the next few moments with your arms and legs uncrossed.

Three Any outside sounds or noises can only help you go deeper and deeper and even deeper into this relaxed state.

Two Let yourself go and let your imagination become fully engaged in this experience,

At the same rate that your deepening breath allows you to let more physical relaxation just happen.

One That's it,

All the way down,

As deep as you can go today.

You don't have to go tremendously deep into this dreamy,

Drowsy state right now.

You can drift to whatever point feels comfortable for you today,

And at the same time,

Let you think of a skill that you had in your life that you were great at.

Any kind of incredible skill that you could do wonderfully,

It could be wildly simple.

Just pick anything that you feel an amazing level of competence at.

Go back and step into this time,

Step into this powerfully successful you,

In your shoes,

Looking through your eyes and make this real once again.

See what you saw,

Hear what you heard,

And feel what you felt.

Vividly experience this skill again,

And the thorough sense of competence and supreme confidence that you feel doing it.

And moving through time,

From that point to the present,

Bring all this back with you,

Feeling this now as your everyday,

Completely familiar reality.

Maybe if you look clearly enough,

You can experience this as a vibrant color,

Or however your mind symbolizes this.

Once this happens,

Fill your body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes with this warm,

Colorful energy.

Just bathe yourself in it.

It can feel so amazingly good,

And you can make it feel even better as you imagine bringing this feeling of competence,

Enthusiasm,

And confidence into the next workout you see yourself doing.

This feeling and color circulating faster and faster as you jump into this workout and experience how incredibly fun this can be.

Do this with some real excitement as this color spreads to the room you're working out in,

Feeling better and better and even better,

Suddenly bringing these skills to a higher and higher,

More powerful level,

Feeling this amazing runner's high,

Realizing that this is the new you,

With new attitudes and new beliefs,

This new unstoppable you.

You can even drift into the future,

Experiencing this in more and more workouts,

Continually getting stronger each and every time,

Learning more and reaching higher and higher goals each and every time.

And from the future,

Looking back to this moment,

See the timeline and how much everything has changed,

And with this energized color marking your path,

Drift back to this present moment,

Taking a deep breath,

Allowing the deeper parts of your mind to process this,

Making it a reality,

Making it familiar and real with each and every breath.

And since this is so good for you and so healthy for you,

Your powerful inner mind can allow this to happen naturally in the background,

Over and over again at the speed of thought.

And as this is happening,

You can notice what it's like to think of someone else who is amazingly successful at working out,

Someone else who is amazingly successful at setting fitness goals and achieving them with competence,

Enthusiasm,

And grace.

It could be someone you know,

Or a pro athlete,

Anyone,

Even a fictional character,

As long as this person is the personification of someone who loves exercise and does it with so much skill.

Once you have a grasp on this,

You can float into this person's shoes and see through their eyes,

Hear what they hear,

Feel what they feel,

Experience how this person moves through the world,

From their physical mannerisms to their tastes and things,

Their routines,

Their everything.

Where are they now?

Start their day when they wake up and live their day,

Do their to-do list,

Eat what they eat,

Drink what they drink,

And do their workouts in the way that they do them,

The whole time experiencing their amazing attitudes and beliefs towards exercise.

Discover how positive and incredibly fun this is.

What are the positive mental images that this person sees when working out?

How encouraging is their inner dialogue?

How amazingly good and supremely confident does this person feel?

Make this all vividly real and when you know you have this,

When you're deeply convinced that you can experience these new skills,

Float back out,

Bringing back with you only what's beneficial from this person,

Leaving the rest behind.

And now give this a color,

An amazingly vibrant energized color,

As it fills your body from the top of your head down to the tips of your toes.

What does it feel like to be bathed in the warmth of this?

As you feel how incredibly good this feels,

You might be realizing that you can make it feel even better,

Just as you did before,

Imagining bringing this incredible feeling of confidence,

Enthusiasm,

And supreme confidence that you got from this person into that next workout you're imagining.

And now this color circulating faster and faster as you jump into this workout and feel how much fun this is now,

Doing this with confidence and enthusiastic fun as this energized color spreads to the room you're working out in right now.

Feeling even better and better,

Bringing these skills to an even higher and higher level,

Bringing that runner's high more and more now,

With this fun and excitement fueling these brand new attitudes and brand new beliefs.

Again drifting into the future,

Bringing this with you to more and more workouts,

Getting stronger each and every time,

Learning more and reaching higher and higher goals each and every time.

Then again from the future,

Looking back to the present moment,

Seeing this timeline,

Seeing how much this has changed everything,

Seeing this new color,

Marking out the path even more,

Allow these two energies to merge,

Continually becoming stronger.

And when you're ready,

Drift back from the future to the now,

Taking a deep cleansing breath and allowing the deeper parts of your mind to process this,

Making it a reality,

Making it completely familiar and vividly real with each and every breath.

And if you were to find yourself letting this run in the background,

It's not uncommon to drift deeper into this warm limitless expanse of your imaginative mind,

Where things are infinitely powerful.

When someone is in this timeless limitless space,

You're always aware,

You're focused,

Completely fascinated and totally relaxed.

It's the outer mind that you can let go for a while,

And if you can imagine that outer mind has a pause button,

Where you could turn it off momentarily and allow your imagination to safely take over for a while.

So using your imaginary hand,

Reach out and hit that pause button for now.

Notice it,

Drifting even deeper into this dreamy,

Drowsy state,

This immensely powerful resource state,

Where you can make changes instantly and permanently.

It's certainly possible that in this blissful yet focused state,

You can review things,

You can witness processes.

Notice what it's like when you remember the times that you might have made excuses to skip a workout.

How did that process start?

Was it a whiny voice saying whiny things?

Was it a weak feeling or weak vision of not doing what needs to be done?

Because the moment you realize how this process happens,

Then you have an opportunity to delve deeper,

And realize that this is actually a choice.

A choice to redefine this,

Because at those moments,

Underneath lies all the possibilities.

You see,

When you stop and delve deeper into those moments,

Maybe working out sounds more playful to you,

And you can see it as play,

Like recess at school,

And it can feel like a rush of excitement when you're finally allowed to go out and play.

Maybe when you look past those old excuses,

You feel the thrill of a challenge,

And see yourself embracing it,

And hear a strong,

Booming voice saying,

Go for it.

Only you know how this process is actually working out,

And only you know at what rate noticing this process gives you new and better choices for you to make,

Healthy,

Positive choices,

And only you know how quickly this sends the old,

Weak stuff into the past.

Then you might find that what brought this up in the first place was a sincere need to relax from time to time.

And if this is true,

Then it should come as a relief for you to know that exercise makes relaxation feel so much better.

It gives your body what it needs to rest better,

Making it more pleasurable,

More enjoyable,

And this realization can awaken your desire to exercise.

And the more you awaken your desire to exercise,

Then the more you realize that exercise makes relaxation enjoyable.

And it might be that you feel your days are now only complete when you get in a good,

Healthy workout.

Braving the amazingly good feelings you get from all the movement and stretching,

Breathing deeply with all this oxygen and incredible endorphins coursing through your body.

And you might discover how this allows you to sleep so wonderfully deep at night,

This deep restorative sleep,

Like when you were a child,

Allowing you to awaken totally refreshed,

Popping out of bed,

Charged up,

And fully energized.

You now get to enjoy deep,

Undisturbed sleep.

You can breathe deeper,

And your whole body can feel so much better.

It might be that you can't wait to workout again and feel this amazing runner's high.

All the endorphins coursing through your body,

Completely filling you with energy.

Whichever way this manifests itself,

You now have so many more healthy choices,

And you can decide what's best for you and free yourself from what isn't.

And once you fully discover this,

And everything is fully integrated and whole,

You'll come back to the room.

So enjoy these last few moments of trance.

And when you're ready,

And as I count up from one to five,

You can come back to the room,

Feeling totally refreshed,

And go on with your day.

As one,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Opening your eyes,

And five.

Take a nice deep breath and let everything kind of integrate.

And your job now is to go notice changes.

Last time you workout,

Notice how your attitude has changed.

This has helped me so much already with my struggles. Lack of exercise is always preceded with a thought. I like how you tell us to consider if you genuinely need rest, sometimes I don’t think about how much I may need to and I don’t always “listen to” my body...but then you add, working out helps you relax so much better. Truuuueeee! Hahaha. This meditation has already been so good to me. I’m going to keep going out and noticing the changes. Thank you!
